My family drove across that bridge a lot when I was a child, and I did every day twice a day to go to and from school... The 2 biggest things I remember and hated...the hum of tires on metal, and actually being able to look out the car window and when you look down and expect to see road, you see right through the "road" to the water (or ice in winter) below you. I never felt safe on it, and I for one am glad it's gone, and had I been there, I would have clapped too....

we clapped cos that bridge was impossible to drive on and they've been promising to replace it for years. furthermore, it had been closed a year before they even blew it up.
I'm a little bummed I didn't know about this. How often to we get to watch a live bridge implosion? Thanks for documenting, Chuck. (btw, check out my latest :10 films...)
Fantastic video. I had just dropped my camera down thinking it was a delay when BOOM! I'm glad there were plenty of other folks out there to record it.

That BOOM! was so loud, it was heard indoors way out in the suburbs!

My girlfriend heard it in Fridley. She said it sounded like train cars slamming together when a train starts moving.

Hey Chuck. Great location! I'm glad someone was out there to put a different angle in the mix. Thanks for being awesome (pants).

Awesome slo-mo! Great zoom, too. You captured the explosive flashes quite nicely.
Note first crossing here was 1905 (not 1887 as Weeks incorrectly reports).
