I love the book Starship Troopers and I absolutely hate this movie. In fact, I think it may well be my least favorite movie I've ever seen. It's does such a dishonor to the book, and is absolutely positively nothing like it.

The cardboard cut-out characters perfectly match the people in the book, who are nothing but puppets voicing Heinlein's own militaristic beliefs throughout. The book is just a vehicle for his views but raises some interesting questions never the less. The CGI was and still is, outstanding.

I've read the book when I was in my teens, it was an OK book. This film however basically sets out who the good guys and bad guys are, and as the film develops shows you that the good guys aren't good guys at all. It perfectly showed how propaganda works in modern society.
You remember 9/11 don't you. Do you remember Operation Ajax though? That's what caused 9/11.

My coming of age was when I realized my "democratic republic government" - wasn't.
The film perfectly reflected that. You have to remember this film was made before 9/11 - yet it captured exactly what the United States did after 9/11. If you know something about US foreign policy, you can see how much propaganda the US uses today.

All that needs to exist in order to sustain any hierarchy is poverty and ignorence. As far as i can see the people in starship troopers are well fed, have good jobs are happy in a nice clean world without geo-politocal distinctions of any kind, theres no racism, ageism, sexism, thier inteligent, cultured, disciplined people, whom also have achived interstellar travel. This is an example of an apex civilisation. An example to follow..

Number one kicked some much ass, it was my that was my favorite movie all through the 90's I could not stop watching it. Number two was an incredibly terrible movie I could not believe that they made it. But it was no where near as bad as The Departed thats 3 hours of my life that I'm not getting back.

It was a good movie in its own right. It was ultraviolent, just as expected from the director of Robocop.
But I've read the Heinlein book and was saddened that the only thing it took from the book was space troopers and giant bugs.
Now there'll never be a good Starship Troopers movie just like the book

Number one kicked some much ass, it was my that was my favorite movie all through the 90's I could not stop watching it. Number two was an incredibly terrible movie I could not believe that they made it. But it was no where near as bad as The Departed thats 3 hours of my life that I'm not getting back.

i just saw starship troopers 2. it was the worst film i had ever seen and after watching it i was like, what the hell was that all about. lets just hope that the third one one will be as good as the first one.

hey everybody,watch this movie again,and you'll see that its just like a comedy,it dosen't make u scared,anxious,it has no great lines,no REAL characters 2relate 2,it actualy sux if u compare it 2other movies,the good movies make u feel what's hapening,not just hear&see.The writer had a realy great ideea,but the director didn't pick the right actors,set,or had the right lines :).Oh btw , starcraft was more intriguing,blizzard realy works on stories,try STARCRAFT/WARCRAFT/DIABLO2
