a few years ago a couple went out to dinner. later that night the babysitter called and asked if she could put a sheet over the clown statue in the kids bedroom. the father said "get the kids out of the house and I'll call the police. we don't own a clown statue." it turned out that the clown was a murderer escaped from jail. if you don't repost this message on 10 videos the clown will be in your bedroom tonight at 3am with a chainsaw sorrry I did this I was scared
WOW. THIS IS TAKING ME BACK TO STUDIO 54, PARADISE, THE PALLADIUM, BOGARTS,LEVITICUS, SILVERSHADOW, XENON, THE LOFT, & PLATOS RETREAT, IN NEW YORK CITY & A DANCE SHOW IN TORONTO ON CITY-TV CALLED BOOGIE, ANY1 REMEMBER THAT. I USED TO BE A DANCER 1975-76. I HAD A LOVELY TIME AND LISTENING TO THIS BRINGING BACK HAVE MERCY MEMORIES, I ENJOYED IT AND WILL FOREVER, TO THE FINE & LOVELY SISTERS THAT USED TO DANCE WITH ME ON THAT SHOW, LETS DO IT AGAIN, REMEMBER THAT SONG? AND RIGHT ON!
I am going the hell insane--who else did this track? I can hear it so clearly in my head but cannot remember the name of the band/singer. It was a little smoother than this one, not as chunky; both renditions are hot.
@stevel738 Ah, should have just searched the 'Tube before asking; it's the Stylistics that did that other version I was thinking of. Both great interpretations of a very unique song.
The last time I heard this was probably in 1975/76. An uncle of mine used to play it a lot. I never had a clue who the artist was then. Nice to hear it again and brings back memories.

Thats a great grove, with slick bass line, thats what I love about all of Van Mccoy's stuff. Thanks very much fo posting this great tune.

This song is just BEGGING to be sampled... if only for :20-:28. That reverb'd snare....

Van McCoy was a good producer but he had a problem:
after very great intros, the tracks always mellowed a bit
and didn't keep what they promised.
This said, I suspect this track is better than "The Hustle":
instrumental break (like 2.03) is an ass mover and deserves
to be sampled in loop
