@JessHester1 Kui Yuan Yuan may have been underscored in 97 but in this olympics China was overscored waaaay more than any other country. Plus have you seen nastia's dismount from beam at the 2008 Pac Rim? she does usually under rotate the twist, but that is the best triple twist dismount i have ever seen

This sport is Artistic Gymnastics, most gymnasts especially the Romanians and Shawn Johnson and most of the American team are not artistic. Unfortunately, the scoring system favored powerful tumblers to ARTISTIC gymnasts, part of why Russia got robbed each and every time that wasn't in the team final. If not for the country Nastia competes for people would say she'd be robbed too!

Great reaction from the largely Chinese audience-they were great with all of the foreign gymnast while naturally enthusiastic for their own countrywomen.

Nastia did an awesome job at these Games-she medalled in every event she competed in. Terrific.

@smsflippygirl I got her autograph at the 2005 Woga classic. I wished her luck in competing in nationals that year, which was her first at the senior level. I predicted great things for her, and I certainly wasn't disappointed!

Her body isn't right for gymnastics but she's still great at it i bet if she had shorter legs she would be able to land her tricks better and work on harder routines. at 8:43 when it's showing her start in slow motion her legs throw off her balance and she still lands it perfect. she's truly amazing

If she has stuck her beam dismount like in all around, Shawn Johnson would have not gotten that gold.

I believe both Nastia and He Kexin were overscored in the bars final. Nastia should've gotten the silver(sans tiebreaker), Yilin Yang shoould've gotten gold, and He Kexin with bronze.

Nastia's routine is NOT perfect! She has several form errors in this routine, flat feet and a very bad-looking dismount. Yang Yilin should win gold, He Kexin silver, Beth or Nasia bronze. Nasia's this routine is also slow, labored.

She totally deserved the AA title-that day, she was the best gymnast out there. No doubt about it.

But she had much better routines on bars, then this one.

I am with you guys, Nastia is sometimes overscored because of her recognized name...She is a great gymnast but does not always deservbe to win gold...some peeps have a hard time understansing that...someone else always comes along with a more difficult routine than the "hot" gymnast of the time: fact...(Shawn J. in balance beam, He Kexin in bars;the same difficulty but more innovative)get used to it peeps...besides she is moving past her gymnastics prime and will probably retire soon

It wasn't flawless, but it was the epitome of elegance. I can't get over her lines. They're exquisite. I don't think we'll ever see someone work the balance beam quite like Nastia did. She's unique.

No doubt she is a great and consistent gymnast but no matter how many times I watch her, she just does not excite me. Her beam and bar routines pack difficulty and she hits but the choreography always seems to lack spunk in her release moves and tumbling

I agree,people seem to forget that INNOVATION always gets rewarded....He Kexin's bar routine has the innovative release combination that takes your breath away and make you say oooh,Nastia's does not.....Her routine is beautiful though....

He Kexin has more visible errors than Nastia. Yang Yilin deserved gold, and Nastia silver. He Kexin's routine was very good, but not worth gold.. maybe bronze, but I prefered Beth Tweddle's routine. Kexin is overrated. For the tie breaker, they shouyld have looked at qualifying score, or something.

Shawn had a higher A score by 0.4. Nastia had to be perfect (and she almost was!) but it was still not enough for gold. I agree, her beam work is breathtakingly beautiful but I didn't mind Shawn winning gold. She's an amazing gymnast indeed and I can't wait to see her compete at Worlds :-D
