  • after playing this song myself i cant feeling my fucking legs

  • He's fantastic in the sense that he revolutionized death metal drumming and all drumming in general. But his technique is ass, and double strokes are lame.

  • Pete's drums get beat up like a hooker on pay day.

  • That sounds awesome but can you do any Justin Beiber??

  • Drum triggers can be used to increase speed, get a specific tone, and for consistancy. They can increase speed because you can turn up the sensitivity, and just rapidly tap the double bass.

  • @MusicSportsPolitics Except... nobody actually does that. It's actually harder to play lighter at faster speeds, first off, and secondly, ANY playing past 240-250 is going to be pretty light, that's just physics. Have you ever actually played a set of drums, or, better yet, one with triggers?

What it will do is make quiet (ie. fast) double bass sound full and powerful, especially if it's double strokes.

  • @Steve128967 Nobody does that? Yeah, I play guitar in a metal band (metalcore, blah I know, not my choice), and the drummer uses triggers for a couple songs. And I am not quite sure what you mean by the faster the playing the lighter, considering each hit is an individual sound that will register. And, most people instictively hit harder when they try to drum faster, but if you practice light hits, it can go muuuuch faster.

  • @MusicSportsPolitics I know basically everybody in metal uses triggered bass, however I meant nobody "taps" so they can go faster. Read.

What I'm saying is, because of physics, the motion HAS to get smaller as it gets faster... this means a single stroke roll at 240 cannot possibly be as loud as it is at 200. And it isn't. Quite simple.

One can play faster relaxed, playing soft initially = more power/control overall after you practice it. I used to have problems like that.

  • @Steve128967 For someone who doesn't articulate his opinions very well, you're quite sassy.

The motion does not have to get smaller. Someone with insanely fast feet could make a big motion, and still go fast. Or, someone who is using a smaller stroke could have very powerful feet/legs, and could gain enough speed in that small amount of space for a heavier sound.

And my point was that I have personally played in a band, and talked to drummers that do 'tap' w/ triggered bass to go faster.

  • @MusicSportsPolitics LMAO! That is COMPLETELY untrue, and renders the rest of your argument demonstrably bullshit because you have no clue what you're talking about. These are not my "opinions", it's fact.

Power from bass drum strokes is determined by how far the beater travels from its position of rest into the head. If you think there is ANY way that the beater can somehow travel the same distance at 260 bpm as it does at 100 bpm, don't even bother replying. Holy shit...

  • @Steve128967 Haha, don't exaggerate the numbers. All I am saying, if one bass drummer is going at 240 bpms, the other at 260, that doesn't necessarily mean the faster one will be lighter. The physique, and technique of each individual drummer plays a part as well.

  • @MusicSportsPolitics Um... yes it will be... two different drummers might play 260 bpm at varying levels of volume (not much because that's the beginning of "ludicrous speed" aka 260-300 bpm) depending on which kicks harder due to having done more power exercises or something, but the difference between 240 and 260 will be speed, obviously, and also volume... because the motion just gets smaller as you go faster. That is literally HOW you get faster in the first place.

  • @Steve128967 Ok, and at this point you are basically proving my original post. Drum triggers can be used to regulate the volume, and the consistancy of the volume, while allowing the player to play at faster speeds. I am not quite sure where your arguments are coming from, we agree on basically everything.

  • @MusicSportsPolitics No I'm not... you've proven you don't know anything and by your own admission don't even play drums. What the fuck? I'm not even talking about triggers at this point...

Yes, they make it sound more powerful and maybe more consistent than it is because they use a single sample sound, but in fact it's HARDER to play with triggers because mistakes are so much more evident when everyone can hear it loud and clear... I've already disproved that it doesn't let you go faster.

  • @Steve128967 Ok, let me organize our thoughts.

If A) Playing faster makes the sound quieter

and B) Using triggers lets your regulate the volume

Than C) Triggers would let you play at a faster speed while still having a powerful sound.

    So, just stop.

  • @MusicSportsPolitics The trigger doesn't make your actual acoustic playing any louder... however it will seem (ie. through the monitors) much louder than it actually is because at 250+ bpm, a fast double bass roll will not be audible, end of.

Triggers don't "let you" play at a faster speed... your feet do. If you can't play at a certain tempo then how the fuck will "tapping" let you do so? WITHOUT spazzing and not havingcontrol. Seriously... get a clue and think about what you're saying.

  • @BenjaminLOfficial no just for bas drum

  • @BenjaminLOfficial but those triggers make him sound like shit

  • @BenjaminLOfficial i never said they make you go fast u dumbasss i know theyr used for volume but he uses em up the ass why spend money on a good st and god heads if your not gona even use the sound if it was his bass i understand but wtf

  • yeah, the best salvadoran drummer ever

  • PETE IS MORBID ANGEL!!!

  • fuck you triggers >.<

  • @XxLudwiGxX94 god damn you people bitch so much about triggers explain what is so wrong about using them! They where designed to provide a consistent sound that is all, so why is there so much fucking bitching!?

  • @brutalnessities1 im not bitching "oh they make you go fast" i know what theyr for dumbass but he uses triggers up the ass its not even kool

  • GODDAMNIT!!!!! Pete DOMINATES!

  • Behold The Godfather of Blastbeats!

  • 0:48 - 1:06 liken that part

  • No wonder he's so skinny...

I'm afraid he is going to hear Ilud Divinum Insanus and want to make his own project :(

  • holy crap!!!!!

  • Sin Duda uno de los mejores bateristas de todos los tiempos,...con una de las Pioneras y Mejores Bandas de Death..... Morbid Angel. Ave M3T4L..

  • anyone know why he has two triggers on each drum?

  • @jameshutton0 Because fuck you. That's why.

  • @MyBandNameWasTaken

fuck off if you're not going to be helpful.

  • @jameshutton0 lol In all seriousness, I think it has something to do with having a different sound if you hit different areas of the drum head.... That's the only reason I can fatham having 2 triggers on a drum

  • @jameshutton0 Vader's drummer does that too, at least in the studio. He was talking about it, and I'm pretty sure it's incase a trigger misses a hit for some reason. That way hopefully the other trigger picks it up.

  • fucking amazing

  • this must be SO exhausting!

  • you can believe that is from el salvador ?? yea.. pete sandoval !!

  • The blastmaster!

  • I tried to play this one drums, but after 0.48 i could'nt move my feets :(

  • Pete, You Dominate!!!

  • @WITNESSITALL Pete Sandoval. . . Sloppy? Are you r-tarded or something? He reinvented the blast beat, invented the swivel technique and the one footed blast. Also the fills are just plain awesome, and hard to play unless you sit down and learn your single strokes for a year or so. Plus the drums sound like shit because its from a camera not actually recording. go and find the song Dominate and listen to it.

  • @Punjabi192 just because he 'reinvented' something, doesn;t mean he's going to be the best at it. Any drummer with sense would realise this is quite sloppy. Don't get me wrong he's a great drummer overall, he was just having an off night perhaps. Every good drummer has his days

  • @WITNESSITALL

    hahahahahahhaha worst comment ever

  • @WITNESSITALL lets see you play dick nose

  • @WITNESSITALL the only thing that is sloppy is your asshole dick nose

  • Morbid Angel it is classics as Mozart and Beethoven (in Death Metal)

Now it is a lot of musicians playing faster, but it is better (I don't know)

  • 2 fags are emos

  • the salvadoran commando is the best

  • He makes it looks so easy....but we all know how difficult this could be for drummers when first starting out.

  • this is not just drumming pete is the first chapter of death metal history!

  • this must be so draining to play, i appreciate 100% i really do, however, is it not more satisfying to sit back on a nice steady funk groove? you cant really say there is any feel to this? as technically perfect as it is? please dont shout me down, im not a metal drummer, i do play funk, but i do own a lot of metal albums. cheers guys.

  • @funkfactor1 There is a feel to it. You play some death metal and you feel like your are crushing everything in your path. Plus its a whole lot of fun to play. The songs you play are constantly changing(this makes it difficult genre to learn) this makes every song fun to play. There are many reasons to play death metal outside of techincal capablities.

  • @thisisformusiconly i see your point, i dont have the feet or the kit to play this kind of stuff! lol

  • @funkfactor1 Would you enjoy to play this type of genre? If yes, then you can do the rest! When i first got my drumset(i have only had it for 5 monthes, but i have progressed very well!) i was unable to do anything, but i wanted to play death metal. My blast beats where off, my double bass was off, my speeds were slow, and varying, i could not do any fills, and had no creativity. now, 5 monthes later, i can double bass nicely, blast beat at around 210! and i can play some fills. continued.

  • @funkfactor1 Part 2 of my comment. i can also be creative sometimes. Basically all it is, is a lot of practice. Genres of music like Jazz, funk, metal(some genres), take some time to learn. Others like pop, or rock, or alternative, can be played quite easily. Take some time out of your day and practice you will always become a little better. REMEMBER THIS IS PART 2 OF MY COMMENT!!

  • @funkfactor1 I know you are probably like ("JESUS STOP REPLYING") but i felt like more opinions can't hurt. The feel about death metal drumming COMES from the fact that it's so technically perfect. If it was even one bit sloppy, you can instantly tell. Sloppy blasting sounds like absolute shit. I can't blast properly yet. My left hand can't keep up with my right so they sometimes line up, sometimes they don't.

  • @monkeychunkey hey, i like to take all comments on board! ive been playing for 22 years and like to think of myself as a competent drummer, its just an genre i have never got round to playing. i am not knocking this guys skill as he is obviously immense. However after listening/watching some lars ulrich live stuff, i dont have quite the same opinion of him lol some of the loosest playing ive ever heard!

  • Kai Hahto could play same, but Pete is a legend

  • Best drummer ever, best band ever etc etc.... What the fuck you fucking people? Shut the fuck up! Take your verbal diarea and gift it to your mother in a motherfucking celophane giftbag!

  • is he doing doubles at 0:53?

  • Best garden party music ever!

  • @JohnQuincyWydell I wasn't dissing Pete anyways, he's one of my top 5 metal drummers for sure.

  • WE WILL DOMINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my goshhhhhhhh, excellent, good perspective cam ... pete symple... THE BEST

  • chilotemaniaco pudrete, tal vez el trauco es el mejor batero para ti jajajaja

  • Even his snare is triggered.. man of triggers!

  • @rsman169

You`re triggered..i bet this is a provocative post. In case, for people who really believe this shit i must tell you Pete fuckin Sandoval does not use triggers.

  • @JohnQuincyWydell You see those little things on the edge of his toms? Triggers. Dipshit.

  • @JohnQuincyWydell Uhm... hate to break it to you, but he DOES use triggers on all the drums... You can even see them fairly clearly.

  • Those bass drums are sick!

  • He's pushing 50.. awesome

  • Fucking Awesome....but i guess..Justin and his Mom didnt liked it..

  • Doesn't miss a beat. THAT is the power of Sandoval.

  • Re-upload!

    Original: watch?v=HVHI2tckHjM

  • Pete el mas grande de la historia¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • salvadorean rulz!!!!!!!

  • YESSSS SOUNDS LIKE A PiSSED OFF TRAIN!!!!!

  • pete is good but triggers sux!

  • His blast speed is nothing amazing, but his stamina and power along with his fast double bass is what makes him the commando.

  • Pete is cybernetic, clearly.

  • skim n bones lol

  • WOW !!

Pete (Comando) Sandoval is a beast, and I agree to DALEE9 ... Pete is the best drummer ever.

  • no drum microphone ?? he use a triggers ?? :D

  • I would HATE to be Pete's Bass drums.

  • Inhuman Commando.

  • worth a mention he's pushing 50 and plays in army boots.

  • salvadorian power!!!

  • Sandoval was an innovator and definitely the best of his peers, but drummers like Derek Roddy and George Kollias have surpassed him.

  • i don't care about triggers. Pete's still the best

  • he plays the drums funny, why is that haha

  • He's great, still one has to admit it is a bit easier to play with triggers. One doesn't have to hit that hard and therefore lose some speed.

  • He knows something...of universal secrets!

  • O,O

  • Who cares who the "best" is? I'd rather be into a whole range of drummers with different styles...some people aren't concerned with being clean and technical and just wanna play with balls out intensity and I think that's just as great :)

  • why the double triggers on the toms ?

  • the best and fastest drummer is from El Salvador

    hell yeah

  • he plays so fucking tense no wonder why he gets injured so much, plus he's like 80. Killer song though

  • sick shit

  • THE BLAST-BEAT MAN

  • Probably the best death metal drummer of all time, so fucking tight both live and studio...

  • brilliant

  • kollias is the younger evolution.sandoval.2.0 =D

  • Fuck yes, can we get something like this but while he plays 'Summoning Redemption'? :) Rhetorical question there...would be cool though.

  • machine gun

  • he wears those huge boots because they slow him down or else he would go so fast that everyone in the room would die..

  • I think you're right. Really. I'm barely holding on right now. Tell my mother I love her.

  • @TheDarkomen9 HAHAHA!! For some reason, that comment made me bust up laughing so loud. :)

  • @TheDarkomen9 I wish I could give this just as many thumbs up as Pete has kicked those drums heads!

  • @TheDarkomen9

ti malakies comments grafete re papares?? poso vlammenos eisai?

  • RESPECT,nothing more,nothing less

  • is he wearing... moon boots? shit, i suppose he can wear whatever the hell he wants. he has the right, drumming like that.

  • meio tosco !!! sem logica ...

como ele consegue tocar tao rapido ??? isso cansa so em ver !!

mas e um bom baterista sim, sem duvidas.

  • MASTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Never heard him without the triggers till I saw this. The hits are right on time. It's amazing that he still has the stamina for this kind of drumming. He looks like a marathon runner to me.

  • @chilotemaniaco puede ser... pero pete es el padre del blast beat, y todos y cada uno de los bateristas que han tocado death metal desde entonces le debemos mucho a este tipo (yo le copié la posición del brazo para el blastbeat);

  • I hate triggers on the studio albums , everything sounds to nice and clean ,but on the concerts its must have .

  • pete sandoval salvadoreno latino buenismo de lo mejor dsfruten amigos desde el salvador

  • holy shit shut up with the trigger debate. no there is nothing wrong with using triggers. however, i'd say it's comparable to the claim that there's nothing wrong with using keyboards in black metal: some people like it, but it sure as fuck isn't kvlt. i have never and will never use triggers, but i'm not gonna talk shit on a blastin' brother who chooses to use them.

  • lol yeah.. ddrum triggers at that.lol pete is still a god. heavy ass metal like this...triggers are necessary. otherwise it will be hard to tell the kicks over guitars and bass and such. well at higher tempos that is.

  • @JaffyNuggz

When Roddy wanted to learn how to drum, he "gave Pete a call" by listening to Morbid Angel.

  • yes he's using triggers, you can clearly see them on his kit. you see those red things? yes those are triggers

  • Pete is the best drummer ever!!!!!!!!!

  • @DALLE9

Faster then a Gatling machine gun, in Portugal we say as good like old oporto wine, the older the better.

    Fan since 1990.

  • @DALLE9 one of the best together with Flo Mournier

  • @DALLE9 damn straight metal brother!!

  • ooooooooooo pete,,, el mejor baterista de este maldito y asqueroso mundo

  • is he using ddrum triggers?

  • he is using trigger but you cant hear them because its recorded from behind so its all acoustic

  • what's trigger?

  • a trigger clips on to a drum rim with a sencer touching the actuall skin. when the drum is hit, the trigger picks up the vibration and sends a signal to a module which converts that signal into a sample. that sample is then sent to the speakers and out comes your triggered drum sound. it is popular in metal to make sounds more clicky sounding so they cut through the mix better. an untriggered bass drum would not be heard through most metal bands and it also keeps all the hits the same volume.

  • Well, you can also have dynamic triggers that vary volume levels depending on how hard you hit the triggered surface.

  • are you shure he is using triggers? i thing he don't need it. He is great old school drummer not as today's fakers :-).

  • There is NOTHING wrong with using triggers. There are other instruments out there on stage besides the kick drum, and triggers make it so that you can change the sound so it doesn't fucking make everything else inaudible. That, and he's prolly playing at least an hour long set, so not having to hit as hard will deff keep your stamina up, considering he does shit-tons of double bass.

  • ok, thanks for explanation, in every case with or without triggers, Pete is great drummer ;-)

  • im sure he sucks at death metal thats why all the best drummers look up to him and mention that he is one of the most cleanest drummers to be heard if you listen to that fake death metal shit people are playing today they sound sooo bad as opposed to this

  • @Cornerstone2590 But still Pete is main influence for a lot more drummers than Lyle Cooper. If people like Gene Hoglan or Sean Reinert say that Pete Sandoval is good - then I just have to admit that he is good indeed.

  • @Cornerstone2590 Dude you suck on the drums. You couldn't play this song on your best day. I went and watched your sorry excuse for a drum solo. Thanks for the laugh.

  • @fabman7 fransisco paoli with fleshgod apocalypse is a pretty good good drummer, as is the drummer for kataklysm both definitely arent fake

  • rrdrums110

When this guy was playing a true Death Metall you were still in a dick of your daddy and dont knew in what mother would get into..

  • rrdrums110 fuck you

u dont know a shit go lisent

    u new metallica

  • do you work for vic firth or something? Like the sticks hes playing with even matter. Maybe you just suck and think thats what makes a good drummer

  • this is sick

  • one of the skinniest and most bad ass drummers i've ever seen lol..

  • ANIMAL!!!

  • Awesome. PETE DOMINATES!!!!! Hail Morbid Angel.

  • Wow, those blasts fucking suck huge donkey balls.

  • UR A FAGG

  • pete is great! if it wasnt 4 him, roddy, yueng, talley etc wldnt have been born. he started it all, & 4 a guy whois old as shit, hes still fast as hell. faster than ne of us, no doubt

  • Yes. Why am I a queer?

  • If you want speed check out Derek Roddy, Alex pelletier, tim yeung, George kollias, Marco pittruzella, flo mounier, nicholas barker. Sure Pete isn't the fastest or most creative, but all these guy had to be influenced by him because he was one of the first to do blast beats at such high tempos. Different styles of music use different styles of playing, why you gotta hate on this one?

  • ahhahaha

have you ever heard gateways from morbid angel

    queer

  • ummm...dunno about that

id get pissed just sticking to the same tempo all the time

  • dont know if anyone can match the speed of pete but he does lack feel

  • as far as speed goes plenty of drummers can out do him

  • but they all sound like shit and have no rythem

  • who?

  • RYTHYM,RYTHEM,RITHIM,RITHYM?F

  • Mmmmm .. those blasts rape my ears ..

  • rrdrums110 your stupid hes been around since the 80"s you clearly are retarded

  • I agree that a lot of other talented drummers from other genres could play this music just as well. However, to your previous comment about metal and radio play....when the last time you heard jazz/fusion on the radio? Never! And don't say some crappy AM or college radio either.
