  • Typically a surge like this means it's starving for gas and that's why it runs better with the choke on. Definitely check the low speed/idle circuit, especially if it smooths out when a load is placed on the engine. It won't hurt it to run it on half choke if it runs fine without fouling the spark plug or excessive black smoke. I highly doubt the governor needs adjusting since it ran good when brand new. My dad has one of these but no problems yet.

  • carb

  • I have the exact same issue and am going to take my car apart this week. I bought at Lowes and mine worked until right after the warranty expired :-)

  • @jsm99 Sure hope there's a cure -- I took the bowl off my carb to see if there was anything clogged or going on in there, all looked clean and it ran the same once I reassembled it.

  • @CaptDan1998 I hope there is as well. I removed the carb from the block and disassembled the entire thing, soaked it in solvent, and reassembled. It ran the exact same.

  • I have the same blower, one year old and the exact same problem. What is the deal?

  • @CaptDan1998 I have no idea. I could not be more disappointed with it. I will be sure to update the description and let everyone know when/if I find a solution.

  • Hello... I have the EXACT same problem with my Snowblower. What was the final diagnosis?... What did you end up doing?... Thanks

  • @altube01 I have not found a solution yet. I will post it when I do. I have heard it is due to lean conditions, however I rebuilt the (unadjustable) carb and it still has the same problem. Pretty disappointed as this machine is only one year old.

  • this is an issue where I would have to physically work on it to give a diagnosis

  • @donyboy73 Any chance you'll be stopping through Sioux City, IA, then? ;) I'll have to tinker with it then. Any chance of this damaging the engine in the mean-time? Thank you for your response.

  • @jsm99 hey guys i worked on one today and the lady had bad fuel in it. so i drained fuel tank and removed carb and cleaned it out. then i added new fuel with sta- bil and one ounce of sea foam . put it all back together and it too surges so i adjusted the half moon adjustment screw witch i belive is the low idle screw and run the machine on half throttle for about 45 min.now when i start it with choke and then the warmer the blower gets the more i could back off the choke till it ran fine.

  • @1TINBEATER the surging is from the govener bouncing back and forth, run it half choke till warms up about ten minutes then slowly back choke off should be fine.
