  • Whats with the handful of jokers finding petty faults with the guys playing. Obviously those who are complaining can NATURALLY do better. If so,.. play it and then post it on here so then we can all judge YOU.! The guy is still learning and full points to him for doing that. I reckon he did a great job anyway and he WILL only get better. Good on you mate, stick with it and ignore the knockers.

  • wooow... amazing!!!

  • 74 people used to play piano...then they took an arrow to the knee

  • How long have you been playing? I really wish i could play this piece. It inspired me to start playing piano. Its beautiful, but i don't take lessons so i know learning it would be difficult. I can read music since i play many other instruments. How often did you play it to learn it?

  • 1:48

    FANTASTIC

  • awesome job! how long did it take you to learn this?

  • @papayakidd Probably 6 weeks or so

  • umm.....i like how fast it is!!! beautifully played sonny!

  • this was in 2006 imagine how good he is now

  • This is so poorly done, the timing is horrible and there are myriad wrong notes. i'd give it 2 stars

  • peace to you.

  • I went through a lot of versions before I found yours. Yours sounds closest to how my Dad used to interpret this song. Thank you so much for bringing back a cherished memory.

  • @TrekkieBear I am glad it brought back memories =)

  • perfect time

  • Dammit I want to see the front pf his face!!

  • @GabyLikesCookies LoL He might get mad if I did that

  • wow. Your speed is ridiculous. Respect. Did you just hold the pedal down the whole time?

  • @EverettMcMahan maybe a little nervous in front of the camera? I also said he had to do it in one take =/

  • @akagrin Oh it was a compliment. I thought it was impressive

  • Comment removed

  • When you are intelligent, you do not complain about people mentioning Stephenie Meyer's Twilight. You just talk about the beauty of this melody.

Want to be "better" than the Twilight fans? Stop talking about how much it "sucks," and move on with your life...

or am I talking to the wall?

  • I just started playing this piece as well and its so hard, you play this so beautiful! Respect!

  • this is beautiful

  • I really dont see how anyone can dislike this video... it may not be the bestest video.. But ANYONE who can play the piano like that, obviously must be talented and very dedicated.

  • It's so bad that most of people know this beautiful piece through Twighlight.

  • @pklinh97 seriously? Does it really matter how or when people found out about this piece? All that should really matter is that they DID find out about it, and now this beautiful music was able to touch more peoples hearts. It doesn't matter if they found this out through Twilight, a rock concert whatever. The only thing that matters is that now it's discovered, appreciated and loved for what it truly deserves. This song is amazing and now, more people know about. That's all that should matter.

  • @OHitschristina26 I agree. Most people think piano is boring or just don't understand it?

  • @pklinh97 better than not knowing it

  • I need a bigger piano. :(

  • youre really good...wow, for your age youre perfect!

  • bellissima esecuzione mi piace

  • This is cool :D I'm 14 and i just finished learning it....its hard but it always makes me smile when I finish... The only thing I would say is that u don't have to play it quite as fast in the middle, it sounds nice slowly too as long as u concentrate on the style. But awesome nonetheless :D :D :D

  • Wow, seeing the amount of work both hands do in this piece has given me a far greater respect for pianists.

  • This is great! Beautifully played I must say, but a bit fast sometimes.

  • It’s really well played! This is a difficult piece, and I’d like to see anyone who thinks it bad play it better.

  • I'm looking for a piano piece to play. Can someone suggest a song for me? Something pretty, not too long and in grade 9 or 10?

  • you played the right notes but for my taste there is not enough emotion

    keep up ;)

  • Absolutely love debussy, and Claire de lune was certainly his best piece! big thumbs up for you :) you played it really well ;)

  • beautiful!

  • i want to learn this, is it hard to play?

  • @JacobxMarley the first page is easy. If you really like it, u will practice hard, and learn it quickly.

  • @JacobxMarley Very. I recommend being at least Grade 5 before attempting it. You can, of course, learn it before then, but it will be much more difficult.

    Hope I helped ;)

  • @elen900 grade 5 hey? not sure how long it would take to get to that. i dont play piano but want to learn. yeah, i imagine to play it well would be difficult. do you know where i could get the sheet music for this?

  • I do, but sadly links cannot be posted on here. Instead, I'll give you some basic instructions.

    1. Type 'clair de lune sheet music' into Google.

    2. Go on the third result you get (titled 'Clair de lune sheet music for free? - Yahoo! Answers'.

    3. The answer on there is the link to the sheet music.

Best of luck, hope you manage to play it; as long as you have the dedication you can do anything with the piano, regardless of grades.

  • @elen900 thats awesome... thanks very much :) found it with no probs with your kind intstructions... should keep me busy a while.

  • actually u were the reincerenation of claude debussy.

  • 1:50 u look like hungry.

  • @warlock0110 what do u mean?

  • @linkdeas3 well i think u just perfectly played it. :)

  • Wow... 1:50+ u fucking ruined it

  • damn, did you see her hands go a 1:50 ? that was awesome. :)

  • Suite bergamasque

  • 1:50 awesome

  • slow down men ... it's not DDay u know :))

  • i fell in love with this when i saw oceans eleven years ago, since then cant get enough debussy...a perfect piece of music

  • bravo!

  • the camera is shaaaakkeeeeyyyyyy woaahhhhhhhh

  • this is really good, I think! I hope I can play this as good as you once

  • Well played for such a youngster but as others, i would definetly suggest slowing it down a tad so that each note is played and appreciated to its full potential. A great effort though.

  • @bbfan77: Ya the middle part is pretty difficult! I find the descent in thirds a bit harder than the quick bit before it. No idea why, the fingering is pretty easy compared to some other bits.

He definitely rushes the signature rolling section at 1:50 (my favorite part), and his fingering on the E-chord right at the end is badly screwed up. But otherwise not a bad performance at all.

One of the great aspects of this should be learning the extended rolling technique. Shame he doesn't do that.

  • the beginning is really choppy all those notes should be connected .... u can change your fingering to do thatt

  • wow... this is ... SO badly played... Clair de Lune = MOONLIGHT. You play hurricane.

  • @Thesakeable clair de lune is an exceoptionally hard composition to play. of course you're entitled to your own opinion and i respect the fact that you have one but really did you HAVE to go and state it in such a way. it was down right mean!

  • @4evaeddy You're right, it was mean to say it this way but I simply do not understand people putting up videos of such bad interpretations... If they can not play it they should not put it up and if they shot a bad attempt they should do another one. Debussy is - as you say - the top level of piano, and it's not like I have no idea, I play myself, it's my passion and Clair de Lune takes a lot of time and a lot of feeling to get it right and it is wrong to do it differently.

  • @Thesakeable So...this is the tipical guy who thinks he can play it better, well let me tell you son, you are no one to speak like that, this is a piece of art, and it must be respected, shut the F*** UP with your DumbLight THING, this aint no space for vampire lovers

  • @ilovemyung Thesakeable means that this guy is playing it way too fast, like at 1:53. And Clair De Lune is French, translated into English as "Moonlight", as in soft and elegant. So it doesn't have anything to do with vampires.

And in all the fast parts it's too loud and has no emotion at all. And Thesakeable never said he could play better than this guy.

  • @Thesakeable no, YOU play hurricane.

  • wow, beautiful :)

  • i knew this song before it was in twilight

i didnt even know it was in twilight until everyone obsessed about it :l

  • shut up you guys -_-" I could care less it was in Twilight, keep it out of the comments. I've heard it even before Twilight was an idea in Stephenie Meyer's mind.. >_>

It's a beautiful piece and what's more important, beautifully played, a bit rushed tho, but still, it sounded great ^^ I hope I'll be able to learn how to play it like that soon.. (that middle part is giving me trouble XD)

    keep it up ^^

  • Also in the ending sequence of ocean's 11... way before twilight... Awesome cinematography and awesome music.. beautiful playing, great job

  • wow this is played really badly

  • @nightcutcom i think it's beautiful. he/she did a wonderful job.

  • Lets face it. Twilight ruins everything... Only if you're a fag and let it ruin it.

If you don't like twilight then why the fuck did you go see it?

  • @franzjoseph31 i thought it was good,so then i watch it,but after watched it,it's completely sucked.

  • nice job ;)

  • you got this. But don't rush it. A good piano player hits all the notes.

  • amazing performance, i'm aspiring to learn this

  • hey ! this is in the book twilight !

anyway i luv it , its a nice calming peaceful song . when ever i hear this i think of the spring and flowers sprouting and birds singing .

  • wow you fucked up the timing, don't ruin it and you missed a shitload of notes

  • @JaemSolitude who gives a shit? its a pretty song

  • wow you fucked up the timing, don't ruin it

  • WOAH MAN!! Slow down...this isn't a race

  • @dawg1157 hhahahahahahaha XD sarcasm all the way XD

  • no te apures tanto que sale feo

  • amo tanto esa melodia... me encanta, simplemente me fascina...

  • Beautiful !

  • I love this piece of music. My mum may be moving the piano from my sisters room which they never use except for doing their makeup which isn't how a nice piano should be used so I thought I should ask for it and learn to play Claire de lune because it is beautiful :)

  • this is really good,

    great playing!

  • i didnt realize hat this was in twilight till now XD hahaha

    BEAUTIFUL SONG BTW ^__-

  • awsome

  • he didnt really feel the music

  • @dorong48 Your very subjective opinion. He was only 14 years old apparently at the time it was posted. He played beautifully...my subjective opinion.

  • @minniemouseek im 14, and i have the interpretation to play it

  • this was a great piece. too bad edward cullen had to ruin it.

  • @pandaislander29 yeh i reckon. now everyone loves this song not because its debussy or its amazing; cos its been in twilight.

  • @planetshakerxx oh please i'm just sad that this song has been posioned by such crap as twilight but i guess that even if you put the best song in the world, in the worst movie in the world still wins

  • @JaemSolitude i ment the song still wins

  • WOW! very good!

  • beautiful just...beautiful.... and by the way the song was in Ocean's Eleven too....and it wasnt made for twiligh...

  • Wow, I wish I was that talented at anything!!!

  • This piece deserves to be in a better movie than Twilight. Too bad there arent any out there anymore. Also, great playing and I see he improvized a little in the begining.

  • @Porter6421 This piece is in Man On Fire to, with Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning :]

  • Amaizing how that salad of notes (starting 1:51) makes sence in such a beautiful way!

  • I honestly don't see what is so great about this piece.

  • Does it really matter where people have heard the song from? It's still a amazing piece.

  • Whoa. I didn't know this was played in Twilight. Debussy's pieces are amazing. And this is not to be loved just because it's in Twilight. But because it's really calming and beautiful :)

  • I love this song, and I'm 12, people think that's totally weird but I find this piece totally calming and beautiful, I just learned how to play it on the piano as well by ear. I knew it BEFORE Twilight too, thank you very much. :]

  • Stop squabbling about twilight. It's a beautiful piece beautifully played, that's all I care about.

  • do you have to use the holding (note) pedal for this? cause if i don't, it sounds stupid, or not right. even if i use legato without the pedal.

    -.-

  • Let's not forget, this song was used in Ocean's Eleven long before Twilight.

  • i got this song from "man on fire"

  • Fuck people get mad because we know it from twilight. makes debussy have more Fans and people who enjoy the music. should thank Twilight for even puting the song in it.

  • @staten0267 yea i didn't know until twilight

  • Comment removed

  • what is this shit? this is not real music. needs moar justin beiber pls

  • You play very good, but towards the end there was some error

  • You play very nice

  • That was amazing awesome vid

  • I learned about this song when i was eight and am taking it on now as an experiment.

  • @Peskymystic Shut up! I hate people who only know this beautifull piece from Freakin Twilight. Yuck!

  • i suggest listening to a recording, as some parts were rushed. dieter goldmann plays it well. overall nice playing though

  • It's ridiculous to be 'disgusted' at how people discovered Debussy. Who cares if it was in Twilight? No matter how hard you think that movie sucked, they weren't defacing it, not even close.

Seems to me that someone who loved Debussy's works would want it to be as spread and enjoyed as possible...despite how they found it out. -_-"

  • @Stilesicious well said

  • @Stilesicious Exactly right. I heard this song when I was younger, but the first time I appreciated it and got up the nerve to go look it up was when it was used in Ocean's Eleven.

  • I usually hate piano pieces from the Twentieth century composers, they usually have a weird tilt in it...

But Debussy..... is the BEST twentieth century composer =)

  • the elitism needs to stop. just be happy that the younger generation/twilight fan base is being exposed to a classic like this.

    this guy played it wonderfully

  • had he listend to the Dali Lama for 7 Years In Tibet before this?

  • wow this is beautiful. This is my favorite song in the whole world. my grandma played it for me often until she died and it has been my dad's and my favorite song for all of our lives:) AND HEY don't b hatin! This is a 14 year old playing this, not some professional. I think he's very talented. Ya, and twilight butchered this classic...

  • This moved me to tears

  • awesome!!!!!

  • No one hate me for saying this, but I had no idea Claire de Lune existed until I saw it in Twilight, and I'm a classical musician myself. I'm a flutist, but I also did teach myself piano and still play piano now. I did hear it in Twilight first, and have come to absolutely adore this piece. But I don't love this piece BECAUSE it was in Twilight. I love it because of the musicality, the sweetness of this piece. It's a work of true genius.

  • sorry, but you played with no passion, no understanding of the piece, just learning notes doesn't make a song, wrong speed :( too much pedale :( this piece is realy tricky because only a few fingers are supposed to be really loud while the rest of your hand has to be very soft.

Try Closing you eyes and play it, you'll get more feel

  • im sorry,im amazed by the snobbery of some of these comments!!! dont you think that the use of this beautiful piece of music in a modern popular film may bring its existence to people who would never otherwise listen to and enjoy it!!!

  • wanna learn this song, tried to. to many sharps or flats. i need an eaiser version lol. but love the song.

  • it is so nice and soothing aaaaah......

  • so beautiful, I DEFINITELY WANT TO LEARN IT!! :D

  • very impressiv :)

  • Magnificent

  • Well done.

  • Bravo ! Very strong piece!

  • I thought it was good. Just make sure you press the notes and the same time at the start. You can hear almost 2 notes rather than a chord.

  • beautifully played. i love this song is so nice!

  • I thought it was played well, but a bit fast...

  • sir/madam you are a astoundingly talented that was absolutely breathtaking i loved it :-)

  • quanto tempo ci hai messo per impararla tutta?

  • Bella'a Lullaby is a different tune altogether. Well played though, Bravo !

  • Bravo, that was wonderful!

  • a lot of people have a problem with fluidity and intensity in certain parts, but i think you nailed it. great job.

  • @xeNdRaNcex

what is that suppose to mean?

  • Clair De Lune is in the part where Bella and Edward dance in his room. 'Bellas Lullaby' is the song Edward plays for Bella on his grand piano in the house.

It is by Carter Burwell... Clair De Lune is by Debussy.

  • Wow! How old is he??

  • that was amazing well done, absoloutely beautiful!!!!!!!! 5 stars and subbed x

  • whats the main chord of the song?

  • why are so many people livid at the fact this was featured in twilight and kids think it was written for the film? when debussy is mentioned in the film ppl might've just missed it. i for one don't hear music for the first time and yet instinctively know who composed it and when, etc. you only learn by doing research - something i'm sure lots of kids who like twilight are doing, therefore learning about debussy and becoming educated in classical music... surely a POSITIVE thing? or am i wrong?

  • It's a piece of music not a song, a song is sung by a singer ?? Very well played too, most play this piece too slowly !

  • wow i didnt even know that this song was from twilight when i learned it

  • WOW you are REALLY GOOD!

  • i am learning this piece too you are very good!!

  • I'm disgusted by anyone who only knows this song from Twilight.

  • Amen to that. I didn't even know it was in Twilight until now. Debussy's pieces are amazing, and really everyone should hear them. :)

  • hhaha, im disgusted by anyone whos seen twilight

  • I know, their minds have been corrupted by all this buffy vampire crap!

    DEBUSSY OWNS!

  • Me too! I hate twilight. But all of the people in my school love that stupid book or movie.

  • @zo12 i totally agree. i didn't know it was in twilight either. that's awful that they put something so beautiful in poorly written teenage drama. My sister used to always play this when i was a kid, so i almost grew up on this song. And even though i've heard the part at 1:51 countless times, it still always takes my breath away. Just magnificent.

  • @PinballWizard976 I don't get it...Why does everybody hate Twilight? It's just a movie, give it a rest. Besides, I didn't hear this song until I saw Twilight either, but I still like it.

  • @meistheblah if you are a true debussy fan, you should be excited that is art is being appriciated. no matter where it was found.

  • @meistheblah better than never know it!

  • @meistheblah get over it, how can it possibly be so terrible? so what if somebody likes this and has only seen it in twilight? Maybe it still brings joy to their lives..

  • @meistheblah I heard it in ren and stimpy... lol is that more acceptable?

  • @meistheblah are you disgusted if i know it from the lexus commercial...thats gotta be better right????

  • @meistheblah I feel the same way... but I discovered this song in "The Darjeeling Limited." I've gotta get points for Wes Anderson, eh?

  • @meistheblah did they use this song in twilight? OMG.

    I don't like twilight, so I didn't know..

Why in heavens name did they use such a beautiful song in a stupid teenage drama like twilight -_-

  • @meistheblah

    thank you!

i played it when i went to camp

    last week

    and all i heard was

    "isnt that from twilight"

    >:(

  • @meistheblah its on twilight?!? that ruins the whole beauty of the song.

  • @meistheblah Dont you just hate that when people recognize music from a TV show, video game, movie, etc.? Like "Oh that song is from guitar hero!" I just hate that.

  • @meistheblah agreed, people who watch it say that they love classical music just cause they like clair de lune but they don't they just like it cause "edward" likes it, i show some of my friends other true beautiful piano pieces like this and they hate it, its so annoying
