Whats with the handful of jokers finding petty faults with the guys playing. Obviously those who are complaining can NATURALLY do better. If so,.. play it and then post it on here so then we can all judge YOU.! The guy is still learning and full points to him for doing that. I reckon he did a great job anyway and he WILL only get better. Good on you mate, stick with it and ignore the knockers.
How long have you been playing? I really wish i could play this piece. It inspired me to start playing piano. Its beautiful, but i don't take lessons so i know learning it would be difficult. I can read music since i play many other instruments. How often did you play it to learn it?
I went through a lot of versions before I found yours. Yours sounds closest to how my Dad used to interpret this song. Thank you so much for bringing back a cherished memory.
I really dont see how anyone can dislike this video... it may not be the bestest video.. But ANYONE who can play the piano like that, obviously must be talented and very dedicated.
@pklinh97 seriously? Does it really matter how or when people found out about this piece? All that should really matter is that they DID find out about it, and now this beautiful music was able to touch more peoples hearts. It doesn't matter if they found this out through Twilight, a rock concert whatever. The only thing that matters is that now it's discovered, appreciated and loved for what it truly deserves. This song is amazing and now, more people know about. That's all that should matter.
This is cool :D I'm 14 and i just finished learning it....its hard but it always makes me smile when I finish... The only thing I would say is that u don't have to play it quite as fast in the middle, it sounds nice slowly too as long as u concentrate on the style. But awesome nonetheless :D :D :D
@JacobxMarley Very. I recommend being at least Grade 5 before attempting it. You can, of course, learn it before then, but it will be much more difficult.
@elen900 grade 5 hey? not sure how long it would take to get to that. i dont play piano but want to learn. yeah, i imagine to play it well would be difficult. do you know where i could get the sheet music for this?
Well played for such a youngster but as others, i would definetly suggest slowing it down a tad so that each note is played and appreciated to its full potential. A great effort though.
@bbfan77: Ya the middle part is pretty difficult! I find the descent in thirds a bit harder than the quick bit before it. No idea why, the fingering is pretty easy compared to some other bits.
He definitely rushes the signature rolling section at 1:50 (my favorite part), and his fingering on the E-chord right at the end is badly screwed up. But otherwise not a bad performance at all.
One of the great aspects of this should be learning the extended rolling technique. Shame he doesn't do that.
@Thesakeable clair de lune is an exceoptionally hard composition to play. of course you're entitled to your own opinion and i respect the fact that you have one but really did you HAVE to go and state it in such a way. it was down right mean!
@4evaeddy You're right, it was mean to say it this way but I simply do not understand people putting up videos of such bad interpretations... If they can not play it they should not put it up and if they shot a bad attempt they should do another one. Debussy is - as you say - the top level of piano, and it's not like I have no idea, I play myself, it's my passion and Clair de Lune takes a lot of time and a lot of feeling to get it right and it is wrong to do it differently.
@Thesakeable So...this is the tipical guy who thinks he can play it better, well let me tell you son, you are no one to speak like that, this is a piece of art, and it must be respected, shut the F*** UP with your DumbLight THING, this aint no space for vampire lovers
@ilovemyung Thesakeable means that this guy is playing it way too fast, like at 1:53. And Clair De Lune is French, translated into English as "Moonlight", as in soft and elegant. So it doesn't have anything to do with vampires.
And in all the fast parts it's too loud and has no emotion at all. And Thesakeable never said he could play better than this guy.
shut up you guys -_-" I could care less it was in Twilight, keep it out of the comments. I've heard it even before Twilight was an idea in Stephenie Meyer's mind.. >_>
It's a beautiful piece and what's more important, beautifully played, a bit rushed tho, but still, it sounded great ^^ I hope I'll be able to learn how to play it like that soon.. (that middle part is giving me trouble XD)
I love this piece of music. My mum may be moving the piano from my sisters room which they never use except for doing their makeup which isn't how a nice piano should be used so I thought I should ask for it and learn to play Claire de lune because it is beautiful :)
@planetshakerxx oh please i'm just sad that this song has been posioned by such crap as twilight but i guess that even if you put the best song in the world, in the worst movie in the world still wins
This piece deserves to be in a better movie than Twilight. Too bad there arent any out there anymore. Also, great playing and I see he improvized a little in the begining.
Whoa. I didn't know this was played in Twilight. Debussy's pieces are amazing. And this is not to be loved just because it's in Twilight. But because it's really calming and beautiful :)
I love this song, and I'm 12, people think that's totally weird but I find this piece totally calming and beautiful, I just learned how to play it on the piano as well by ear. I knew it BEFORE Twilight too, thank you very much. :]
Fuck people get mad because we know it from twilight. makes debussy have more Fans and people who enjoy the music. should thank Twilight for even puting the song in it.

@Stilesicious Exactly right. I heard this song when I was younger, but the first time I appreciated it and got up the nerve to go look it up was when it was used in Ocean's Eleven.
wow this is beautiful. This is my favorite song in the whole world. my grandma played it for me often until she died and it has been my dad's and my favorite song for all of our lives:) AND HEY don't b hatin! This is a 14 year old playing this, not some professional. I think he's very talented. Ya, and twilight butchered this classic...

I'm a flutist, but I also did teach myself piano and still play piano now. I did hear it in Twilight first, and have come to absolutely adore this piece. But I don't love this piece BECAUSE it was in Twilight. I love it because of the musicality, the sweetness of this piece. It's a work of true genius.
sorry, but you played with no passion, no understanding of the piece, just learning notes doesn't make a song, wrong speed :( too much pedale :( this piece is realy tricky because only a few fingers are supposed to be really loud while the rest of your hand has to be very soft.
Try Closing you eyes and play it, you'll get more feel
im sorry,im amazed by the snobbery of some of these comments!!! dont you think that the use of this beautiful piece of music in a modern popular film may bring its existence to people who would never otherwise listen to and enjoy it!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
claire de lune was in twilight? is this supposed to be bella's lullaby or what it was constructed from? cuz bella's lullaby is sounds nothing like this.... thankfully...
Clair De Lune is in the part where Bella and Edward dance in his room. 'Bellas Lullaby' is the song Edward plays for Bella on his grand piano in the house.
It is by Carter Burwell... Clair De Lune is by Debussy.
why are so many people livid at the fact this was featured in twilight and kids think it was written for the film? when debussy is mentioned in the film ppl might've just missed it. i for one don't hear music for the first time and yet instinctively know who composed it and when, etc. you only learn by doing research - something i'm sure lots of kids who like twilight are doing, therefore learning about debussy and becoming educated in classical music... surely a POSITIVE thing? or am i wrong?
@zo12 i totally agree. i didn't know it was in twilight either. that's awful that they put something so beautiful in poorly written teenage drama. My sister used to always play this when i was a kid, so i almost grew up on this song. And even though i've heard the part at 1:51 countless times, it still always takes my breath away. Just magnificent.
@PinballWizard976 I don't get it...Why does everybody hate Twilight? It's just a movie, give it a rest. Besides, I didn't hear this song until I saw Twilight either, but I still like it.
@meistheblah get over it, how can it possibly be so terrible? so what if somebody likes this and has only seen it in twilight? Maybe it still brings joy to their lives..
@meistheblah Dont you just hate that when people recognize music from a TV show, video game, movie, etc.? Like "Oh that song is from guitar hero!" I just hate that.
@meistheblah agreed, people who watch it say that they love classical music just cause they like clair de lune but they don't they just like it cause "edward" likes it, i show some of my friends other true beautiful piano pieces like this and they hate it, its so annoying

When you are intelligent, you do not complain about people mentioning Stephenie Meyer's Twilight. You just talk about the beauty of this melody.

I do, but sadly links cannot be posted on here. Instead, I'll give you some basic instructions.
1. Type 'clair de lune sheet music' into Google.
2. Go on the third result you get (titled 'Clair de lune sheet music for free? - Yahoo! Answers'.
3. The answer on there is the link to the sheet music.
Best of luck, hope you manage to play it; as long as you have the dedication you can do anything with the piano, regardless of grades.

claire de lune was in twilight? is this supposed to be bella's lullaby or what it was constructed from? cuz bella's lullaby is sounds nothing like this.... thankfully...

@xeNdRaNcex
what is that suppose to mean?
lilboy111 2 years ago

It's a piece of music not a song, a song is sung by a singer ?? Very well played too, most play this piece too slowly !
draymannorfolk 2 years ago 2

Amen to that. I didn't even know it was in Twilight until now. Debussy's pieces are amazing, and really everyone should hear them. :)

Me too! I hate twilight. But all of the people in my school love that stupid book or movie.
idioticscheme666 2 years ago 2
@zo12 i totally agree. i didn't know it was in twilight either. that's awful that they put something so beautiful in poorly written teenage drama. My sister used to always play this when i was a kid, so i almost grew up on this song. And even though i've heard the part at 1:51 countless times, it still always takes my breath away. Just magnificent.
PinballWizard976 1 year ago 2
@PinballWizard976 I don't get it...Why does everybody hate Twilight? It's just a movie, give it a rest. Besides, I didn't hear this song until I saw Twilight either, but I still like it.

@meistheblah get over it, how can it possibly be so terrible? so what if somebody likes this and has only seen it in twilight? Maybe it still brings joy to their lives..
annaices 1 year ago

@meistheblah I feel the same way... but I discovered this song in "The Darjeeling Limited." I've gotta get points for Wes Anderson, eh?
ButtPoopWiggle 1 year ago
@meistheblah did they use this song in twilight? OMG.
I don't like twilight, so I didn't know..
Why in heavens name did they use such a beautiful song in a stupid teenage drama like twilight -_-
MelaniexAnubis 1 year ago
@meistheblah
thank you!
i played it when i went to camp
last week
and all i heard was
"isnt that from twilight"
>:(
xZeroTheZombiex 1 year ago
@meistheblah its on twilight?!? that ruins the whole beauty of the song.
chihuahuasarecute123 1 year ago
@meistheblah Dont you just hate that when people recognize music from a TV show, video game, movie, etc.? Like "Oh that song is from guitar hero!" I just hate that.
YHKKS909 1 year ago
@meistheblah agreed, people who watch it say that they love classical music just cause they like clair de lune but they don't they just like it cause "edward" likes it, i show some of my friends other true beautiful piano pieces like this and they hate it, its so annoying
