Very well executed and explained Brandon. Even if the opponent were to roll you to your guard like some people are asking, you can still get the tight finish on the submission.
i tried it yesterday and your right i just thought there was a moment when your going to lock it in that the guy might be able to shift his weight and roll but no way yesterday when i did this move my partner was tapping quick...thanks for the post and the move sir. good one
Can the guy on bottom roll you if he he switches his hips since your locking your leg and commiting to this calf slicer, i only ask since im sure you've used it and see if you have some insight on it before i decide to try it out on the mat later
With one of his legs locked up in the calf crush and his other being taken off of the ground, I'm not sure how he could generate any kind of momentum for a roll. Similar to how holding the leg in the spider-web prevents the person from rolling. With your butt on the ground and legs both in the air, it's hard to roll if a person is holding onto you.
Maybe if you wanted to feel extra safe, you could try a guillotine hold on his head to further prevent movement in the direction opposite your calf crush?
If you have that calf slicer locked in he is tapping in my experience. Both legs are controlled which means his hips are controlled and its a topside calf slicer with you body weight doing the slice... pretty much tap time in my opinion and from what I have seen and done
That is slick as hell........i will definitely try that
