@idh3854 I must admit I don't know the reason, but I would imagine it's due to the livery. It carries green livery and you would expect it's pre-TOPS number (D1755), but it has a modern TOPS ID and that is carried as well (47773) I would imgaine this has to be displayed. Thanks for the comment.
@MG06ZT I doubt that would be the reason, as steam locomotives don't display their TOPS number. Also D7628 on the NYMR doesn't display it's TOPS number, and other preserved diesels are similar. At a gust I'd sat it's what the owners wanted to do, perhaps wanting to have it in two tone green but display the TOPS number too. Great vid btw.

Thanks mate, I heard a rumour she was movin and went for a look see!! It would be beyond words to have her steaming again, but I carn't see it happening soon. Though, imagine her thrashing down the WCML to Euston on 'The Olympics Express' in 2012!!!!!

I'm wondering if they're quietly hoping to steam her again around the 2012 Olympics. But even that might not be possible given how tight money is currently. With 6233 being withdrawn for overhaul later this year, Stanier Pacific fans had better hope that 6201 Lizzie can keep the flag flying.

Yes, it would be great to see her running again. The NRM website only talks of a static exhibit to the end of the year. There is a rumour of 2011 but I don't know. The simple answer is it takes money, lots of money, the more donations the NRM gets the faster they can put it back on the mainline. There are so many loco's needing cash it is difficult.
Cracker isn't she, i believe there were only about 20 of them with the streamlining fitted. They all had it removed by the mid-1940's, but I'm no expert on it. Cheers for the comment.
I wonder why the clas47 diesel had d1755 at one end & 47773 at the other seems strange to carry both numbers at the same time
