  • I couldn't care a less about the social conformist modern crap that's around today. This is real music and people will still be listening in one hundred years.

  • I love this <3 just found Dion and I'm in love. I was defiantly born in the wrong time period.. I'm only 15!

  • Great edition.

  • I wish I lived back when this was new. This is the perfect song for a guy to slow dance with his woman. It reminds me of my girfriend so much

  • HMTOlympic is right ... i love this music and i am only14

  • i cant agree more with HMTOlympic ...im only 14 and im a greaser ,and love this music...dions the best

  • I WISHED WE COULD GO BACK TO THESE TIMES WHEN WE APPRCIATED GREAT MUSIC WITH OUT ALTERING THE VOICES AND DANCING CLOSE TO SOMEONE...WHEN TIMES WHERE SIMPLIER GOD I WAS BORN IN THE WRONG PERIOD

  • I love Dion he is one of my favorite artists of all time.

  • Truly, a great old song that takes me right back to my youth.

  • I am only 25 years old and it feels like I was born in the wrong time period. This is the only kind of music I listen to. Especially Dion and the Belmonts. Doowop needs to come back and get rid of rap crap, hard metal. Music nowadays is too negative. Doowop is happy music. They write about love, respect, and going to the drive-in.

  • @HMTOlympic Unfortunately the worlds screwed up, no ones happy with what they have, love is almost non existent and divorces ruin families, respect is about to be taken out of the dictionary cause no one uses the word anymore and drive-ins have been replaced with kfc and mcdonalds. Not to mention the fact that no one wants to go cruising in a honda civic.

  • Dion is fantastic, but he cannot improve on the perfection of the Mello Kings.

  • Good song.

  • this is terrible compared to the mello kings

  • damn this i one of the best doo woops iv herd. damn wish i grew up in that time. and not in todays god awfl shitty mess.

  • The GOOD OLD TIMES

  • Magic :)

  • Singing about feelings ,people never talk today !

  • @dimitrisrocket88 they talk...on social media and yt ;p

  • its as simple as this folks! "ROCK N ROLL FOREVER!! (the black eyed....wot...n dubz...wot a load ov s__te

  • love this song

  • Dion is a better singer than the Mello Kings' lead singer, but their recording is still the better one...more heartfelt. The Mello Kings' lead directly gets across to the girl that he'll love her forever. Dion's singing a smooth song about telling a girl that he'll love her forever...it feels more roundabout.

  • omg That nice recollections. And that times as returning to them? Good alone it can only to remember

  • man he did an amazing job.

dion has such a smooth voice.

  • this just makes me want to cry. music today is just UGH thank god for this music :) this music right here just helped me through the day :D

  • I like Dion but his version of this song has no soul to it

  • I'm sure the late Bob Scholl would certainly approve of Dion doing the Great Mello Kings classic. Absolutely geat stuff and will live forever long after rapp....has gone..my goodness is right! Check out the Mello Kings doing Chip Chip another great tune now totally obscure. Fifty's4ever jeff&suellen

  • Perfect. Slow dancing that Don McLean made mention of so well in his masterpiece song. This was a huge hit in NYC. This is why teenagers had

transistor radios in their ears instead of phones. lol.

  • It sounds like Earth Angel. Love both.

  • Dion is truly the King of DOO WOP. It doesnt matter who singing background for him or whos song he is singing. The way he weaves a tune he makes it his own.He did a beautiful job on this number.

  • song reminds me of my bf sing it to me everytime in the car :)

  • love this version! but still is nothin compared to the original!

  • Thanks so much for posting! Love it!

  • mello kings sing it better git with the program

  • Cool

  • Why this song is so ROMANTIC I could soil myself !

  • TMI

  • Dion and The Del Satins sound great , why would you call them The Belmonts Dion had long ago left them this is Dion as a solo and his studio back up group from Runaround Sue on was The Dell Satins, who sound nothing like The Belmonts.

  • Grest sound DIon. You still sound great. I sang lead with the Castletones in the Bronx and my husband sang back up with the Belmonts (now singing DJ Bobby James.

We play your songs each and every Friday nite.

    Oldies 4-ever Cookie

  • dion adds alittle more of a love tone to this one than the mello kings version...they both are very good but i like dion's version better

  • Véry similiar to 'Earth Angel', no? Still luv it!

  • yeah i can hear it!

  • Fantastic!

  • sounds like Tell Me Why

  • Much smoother than the Mellow Kings but I like both

  • frankie valli did this song pretty well

  • Dion could take any song and make it better! The KING of doo-wop!!

  • Remember doing the strand to this song's tune. wonderful 60's.

  • I love this song ^-^

  • Wow first time I hear this song ! I was searching for Dion and the Belmont's more/songs and I ran into a great cover can'r complain.....

  • same here just heard one song then that lead to another and their all good..

  • Nice song...second only to The MelloKings'

original version, which was one of the

    fundamentals of the doowop sound.

  • three185, I agree. The MelloKings' version is untouchable, even by the great Dion

  • Untouchable, heck! It's FIREPROOF! Yeah!!

  • This song is incredible

  • Great version.

    Thanks,

  • Dimucci had a MUCH better voice than any of the mello kings!!!

This version is very melodic as well, however, if youre looking for that classic sound, go with the Mello's

  • I love Dion and the Belmonts, but they don't touch the Mello Kings on this song. Still, it's interesting to hear another group's take on it.

  • I agree with blisskasden completely! Dion & the Belmonts have lots of great songs to carry their name but this one, Tonight Tonight belongs to the Mello Kings. I blubber and ball like a baby everytime I hear their version of this song, and I am a 56 year old black man.

  • I agree with you. You can tell I am from the doo wop era, I had to ask my 14 year old granddaughter what BTW meant, so I guess that BTW also applies to me. Thanks.

  • First time hearing Dion's version, I am Italian/Sicilian, as are some of the best, Avalon, Dion, Rydell, Fabian, Valli.

  • i really don't want to be biased, but the italian american singers are most passionate! BTW, i'm italian american! ha ha!

  • First time I've heard it too. That's a great list - are you from Philly?

  • I am from Boston, but I always wanted to go to Philadelphia to be on American Bandstand. Just imagine a Summer night and there's this huge doo wop concert at Coney Island and fans from all over get one last chance to go back in time.

  • Great tune Markdale, didn't know it existed. Keep up the good work

    Barry

  • Is this Dion's original version, or an alternate take?

  • Clearly, Dion and the 'Del Satins' Version of this song is, by far, THEE BEST!!

  • Those are not the Belmonts backing Dion on this song. Sounds like the Del Satins, the group he used after he went solo. I have never heard Dion's version of this song before. The header says "hit single" but it wasn't a hit single in the U.S.

  • I love Dions version. As good, maybe better, than The Mello Kings! Dion was the best!

  • I love Dion, but this song belongs to the Mello Kings, whose version is THE doo wop ballad of the '50s. I had no idea that Dion even recorded this song.

  • Most groups back then were Black or Italian. Dion, Fabian, Bobby Darin, Connie Francis, Frankie Valli, Johnny Maestro and so on.

  • a lot of the groups had italians in them too, doo wop groups.

  • This is a correction to your posting concerning groups in the fifties being black or Italians. The proper way to phrase that statement is "Most groups in the fifties were Sicilian or Italians".Thank You.

  • Very in joke I am sure no one got , but I did! Eddie B,

  • I still like the orginal version

  • as do i but dion and the belmonts are better.

  • I never heard this version before~! I do like this better than the Mello Kings song, because Dion` s lead voice was so much better than the Mello King`s lead. The Belmonts harmony was tighter, also.

  • I also love this song...man the 50s...I wouldn't be born for another 30 years though lol.`

  • Golde43-sorry for your loss- May your husband rest in peace-Joyce

  • Thank you Joyce, and Bless you. My husband left his journey on earth for a much better place, 14 yrs ago this Memorial Day weekend (very fitting for a Viet Nam veteran). I learned so much from him and our experiences together. And although one never gets over it, I am leading a very happy, productive life. Sometimes I wish he were here to share in some of the highlights, especially of our two sons, but feel is more than likely is anyway. Again, God Bless you.

  • I just adore this version- even more than the Mello Kings original!

  • I'm 17 and decided years ago that this is gonna be my wedding song when I get married- its so niceeeee :)nothing beats the 50's

  • God bless you Golde43

  • Glad I finally found this version!!

  • This song was on a tape purchased after seeing Dion perform at Summerfest 1992. It has special meaning as I later sang it as a part of renewing our wedding vows before my late husband's untimely death. It perfectly expressed my feelings during a very difficult time. The timing of the song coming into my life at that time was a true blessing, leaving me with with yet another wonderful memory.

  • One of my all time favorite doo wop songs, no matter what version it is!

  • Thanks for this video!!!!!!!!!

  • holy that was totally weird. I made a video for this last week but never got around to uploading it until today and it even has the same image lol. I guess we both have good taste in music.

  • lol. They say great minds think alike!!lol

  • Got a good cover version of this by The Tokens

  • great song.thank you.
