You have to admitt that kicking of a CR 250 and hear the engine ting is one of the best sounds in the world! I have a CRF 250R at the moment and its expensive to run a bastard to start when its hot and its just not as fun yes there an amazing bike to ride but bring back the 2 stroke.... nothing beats hitting the power band on a 2 stroke down a huge flat and hearing the engine fly is an expierience in itself

When 2 strokes aquire the correct emissions, four stokes are done..Also by adding fuel injection to a 2 stroke motor will increase performance.. And last time I checked if it takes four strokes to produce power...and only 2 stokes to produce power, wich would be faster and lighter weight?

@husky500cr i agree, parts for my crf450 smr are crazy....$1100 for a 505cc piston and head!!!!! now the bigger companies have started to end their 2 stroke lines, all these smaller companies are jumping on the opportunity and making a bloody good job of it!! while ive got a big thumping 4t i definitely miss the sound of a 2t, very tempted to get myself a cr500 af!!

Direct injection 2 Strokes creates a 4-stroke power band.For most people that is better. But like I many people like that hit. With Direction injection you can have different power curves. It is possible to make a power band that is narrower...than a current carborator2-stroke. Aprilia made a direct injection RS250 and did this. They had easy power curves like a 4 stroke, aggressive curves, and curves that emulated carb 2-strokes with that very hard hit harder hitting than today's 2 Strokes.

They have patented a engine design that; 1)-Uses a sealed lower end like a 4 stroke 2)-Is direct fuel injected into the head like a diesel 3)-its induction is by supercharger so it does not need an expansion chamber or conventional porting cont;

I signed the petition months ago even though it's prob not gonna do anything, if the two strokes had a hard time beating 4 strokes a couple years ago, what makes us think that the frozen in time 2 strokes can even come close to the technologically advanced 4s?

@tobyeo Well what I meant by that I meant 250 2s are no match for the 450Fs. I had the 250s and 125s in mind when I said that. CR500s and KX500s will always be king of the dirt in my book and should be in anyones book for that matter..

Nice vid. I have an 06 ktm 300 myself, and hillclimbs better than my mates wr 450. Right down at idle is where you find yourself a lot of the time if you do any serious off road stuff, and that's where my 300 hundred really shines, it hangs in there and keeps going. My mates 450 will just stall at the hint of riding near idle. Also according to the KTM brochure a 450 exc is nearly 11 kgs or 24 lbs heavier than a 300 exc.

@WoodsCreekFarm That's true but an even bigger and ongoing hit to the wallet are the maintainace costs. Almost every part on a 4 stroke is way more expensive.And If you dont keep them in tip top running condition when they do go, they go BIG !Thats about 3-4 times the cost of a two stroke engine failure as well.I rode my 97 CR about twice a week,fairly hard too, and the when I rebuilt it the 13 year old original crank was stiil good and the three year old top end is still usable,Its on my Mantle

@Motorakid yeah man i know, 4 strokes cost quite a bit. what size is your 97 cr? i have a 97 cr125r and it is still on the 13 year old stock piston and crank! 2 strokes are great machines, i wish the government would quit trying to take them away.
