Has anyone else heard rumors they are headlining reading 2012? That would be fucking brilliant, I would quite happily pay over £150 just to see Bloc Party! Ive seen them seven times and they just keep getting better!!! :D
Love this song. Hope Bloc Party stop fooling NME around soon and start whacking out some new songs. Ive resorted to stalking Matts facebook page... official quote on the album from Matt... 'The album is going to be called "Matthew" and the sleeve art has already been decided: it's a picture of me doing wheelies on a scooter with flames coming out of the exhaust whilst the other members stand in the background and understandably bow to my superior prowess.' CANT FUCKING WAIT!!!!!!!!
@jakeisamazing55 Ah well there sir, you have come to the wrong place haven't you! I'm sorry our 'Pussy ass homoshit' hasn't pleased your ears unlike a man with a computer does! If talent's really not your thing then I'm sorry the mighty Bloc has offended your humble opinion on 'good music' .
I love how Bloc Party has song after song which becomes my favourite! Helicopter to Banquet to Hunting For Witches to Flux to Uniform to Ares to Mercury to One More Chance to Talons to Your Visits Getting Shorter to Compliments to Song For Clay to SRXT To England To Rhododendron to Skeleton to Like Eating Glass to She's Hearing Voices to Signs to Sunday to So Here We Are to Positive Tension to The Prayer and it goes on + repeats itself! They said new material will be released by the end/summer!
While Bloc Party have had one brilliant album (Silent Alarm), one really good album (Weekend in the City) and an iffy album (Intimacy), they have not headlined Glastonbury TWICE, there albums have never been considered the best EVER, while they are AMAZING at what they do, they have never innovated music like Radiohead, and have never successfully totally changed their sound album after album like Radiohead, you people don't have a clue
I'm a huge fan of Bloc Party but to be honest you are all idiots for arguing that Bloc Party are better, Radiohead are internationally renowned, there last album was number 1 here AND in America, a rare feat (especially for such a cult band)
They have had three masterpieces (OK Computer (widely regarded as the best album of the nineties and sometimes even the best album ever quite frequently), Kid A (widely regarded as the best album of the 2000's) and In Rainbows)
I love both Radiohead and Bloc party, but I gotta admit, alot of radiohead's stuff sounds the same to me. I enjoy listening to Bloc Party more because of all the different types of songs they put out.
to compare Radiohead to Bloc Party is just plain stupid and miss-informed. Bloc Party have more integrity in their shit than Radiohead have ever displayed.
I love Bloc Party. I also love Radiohead. They're both fantastic bands. Why don't we all stop writing poorly worded and misspelled novels on this video in an attempt to prove a point, and just enjoy the video?
Why are Bloc Party fans bashing Radiohead and vice-versa? They are two incredibly talented groups, certainly have their differences, but I would expect the educated fans of each to understand they both have loads of talent.
I don't think Radiohead and Bloc Party should be compared to each other. If you'd take Karma police form Radiohead and compare it to Flux you wont find much similarity, one of the songs are a ballad like half-grunge while the other is almost purely a electric song.
So stop this stupid argument about Bloc party and Radiohead, you cant compare two different bands and come up with a conclusion that "blabla is the better band" then its just your opinion and you should keep it to yourself.
Love the live version. Have they played Flux live like the studio version? In the live version the lead is mainly played an octave lower and Kele doesn't go for the higher notes when singing... but still love it!
@juZby God no. This isn't Bloc Party's festival, because this is a MUSIC festival. There's no right or wrong in music, so when people say that a festival belongs it a band it's arrogant. Do people not understand that music is a form of expression? Bach is fantastic, but so is Aerosmith, but in a festival, music is music and everyone should love what they love. This isn't THEIR festival. This is the world's.
Bloc Party has a ravey vibe that got the crowd jumping, but Radiohead has a more...hippy vibe? Definitely more atmospheric than energetic. Instead of jumping people just sat back and watched in awe.
@MRjoshc328 - naa man... if they did the whole crowd would be sleeping by the time bloc party came on... no joke though... there were ppl sleeping... ont he grass... some standing during radiohead...
I don't even think Bloc Party would allow Radiohead to open for them, the same way Thom York wouldn't allow Radiohead to open for Pixies. Either way both great forward thinking bands!
@MRjoshc328 Id say other way around, since radiohead was first, and more original. Flux is a great song, but I wouldn't say that it tops songs like The National Anthem, and Idioteque. Or maybe just have a split show.
@MRjoshc328 Fuck off! Radiohead are the most forward thinking and original band in history and are held in high esteem and have a massive fanbase. Bloc Party have made their career off copying Radiohead. Not a bad thing especially, but it does make them the ultimate Radiohead support act because they're like a mediocre version of the "Big R" as Kele called them on this night (I was there). So no way. I like Bloc Party, but they can't touch Radiohead. And they'd admit it.
@blurayz3 The Beatles I'll give you, but they were pretty much the first band that can be defined as a band as we know it, so you can't really count them. But Muse sound a lot like Radiohead at times, and also Rage Against the Machine. The Killers? You can't mean that, they sound like a bad U2 had a hideous baby with Bruce Springsteen. Oasis? The ones that literally rip off The Beatles all the time? And would admit it? Yeah their seriously original...
@TheParanoidAndroid1 ok first of all calm down, were all entitied to our opinions.second, the killers are awesome, dont dis. and lastly, are you sayingthat if a band has influences...theyre just a rip off? cos thats what it sounds like to me :P
@blurayz3 No I'm saying that saying a band that wears their influences on their sleeves and who do not make a serious effort to build upon them is less original than a band who try to push thing forward . Oasis, for example, have repeatedly told about their aspirations to be like The Beatles and you can hear it in their music and it's intentional. Same with The Killers and U2. You're right, we are all entitled to our opinions, but isn't the point of these comment arguments to argue your case?
@TheParanoidAndroid1 no, i dont want to argue my case at all, i dont see why people are arguing at all, i just dont agree that those bands are just rip-offs, and that Radiohead is the most forward thinking band in the world.Theyre a good band, ill give you that, but i wouldnt say theyrein a league of their own, not at all.
@blurayz3 You see Radiohead's influence all over Bloc Party. For example, look at the covers of OK Computer and A Weekend In The City and tell me there isn't an influence. Listen to the use of brass and samples on "Mercury" and tell me they aren't influenced "The National Anthem." And listen to the solo on "Hunting For Witches" and tell me it doesn't sound like Jonny Greenwood. It doesn't mean they aren't a good band, but it does prevent them from reaching the heights that Radiohead have.
I feel for people with epilepsy who were not able to enjoy this performance quite as much as I did.

@mynamedoesntfitgah Because you are making the mistake of comparing The Bends to Intimacy
However Kid A can be compared to Intimacy due to them both having heavy electronic elements (and plus they both were after guitar heavy albums)
And trust me Kid A was light years ahead of Intimacy in terms of what you can do with electronic music
