I was at this very concert. He performed the entirety of Low, followed by the entirety of Heathen, and then threw in a few old favourites (Ziggy Stardust, I'm Afraid of Americans, etc.) as an encore. Such a privilege to be there. So good to find footage on youtube! :D
it`s called LOW because of the state of his mind at the time,Warszawa reflects his obsession with central Europe at that time,he is not being assisted on the keyboard they are playing different parts
David should come to Warszawa nowadays, after all these years... the song would probably have none of these unnerving and strangely pessimistic overtones. Our Polish capital and Poland in general has immensely changed ever since Bowie's last stay here in 1976. Sir David, feel welcome to come to Poland. I recommend that You also should definitely see my home town of Lodz. Instead of spending Your leisure on the Bahama beaches, Your stay in Poland will inspire You to write new stuff, I'm certain.
@warhols25 I am agree! Poland now is "new" country.David mial byc w Polsce w 87,niestety za malo bylo chetnych.Szkoda,ja-bilet mialam...a koncert odwolano.
@butterwings77 funny, i started to re-listen to the Low album a few weeks ago and i was amazed by how fresh this still sounds. I also think that Low is by far the best of the berlin trilogy, AND that Scary Monsters is an incredibly overrated album. it sucks to be honest...
thats his guitarist Mark Plati helping out , I think I was at this in London on the southbank where David was curating a festival , he played the whole of Low , i was there great gig!
I don't think he actually sang the vocals that high originally on the album either. The tape of his singing that part was sped up to higher the pitch. This effect can all be done quite easily on computer nowdays, but trickier to acheive then. A lot of credit should go to producer Tony Visconti for this classic album who is often overlooked when mention is given to the work of Brian Eno on the 'Berlin Trilogy' of albums.
w 90 którymś też miał być koncert.bilet chciałem już kupować a tu odwołany z powodu zbyt małego zainteresowania.posłuchajcie se kurwa dody i feela

the albums called low profile people always think its just low but on the album cover is bowie playing the profile part

I never realized this before, but Bowie was doing what Peter Gabriel perfected a decade later with his work with musical texture.
As an instrumental track, this is still a little too minimalistic for my taste, and it does sound a little dated.
That being said: Low has some great songs on it. But not as good as Heroes, Lodger, and certainly not Scary Monsters (his best, in my opinion).

Heathen Tour?

I saw this in 1978, he opened the show with it in Philadelphia, and of course it blew me and my 17 yr old brain away.
But why is someone "helping" here on keyboards??
....
narablog 2 years ago 7
Beacuse it's not playable with two hands. It has many layers or something like that. This is a very difficult piece of music.

@narablog It's more he had to have someone helping out on those high vocal parts he can't reach any more, bless him!

That melodie is so haunting! After all the years still great. Just as the whole Low album. I wish he'd come back!
