You know what REALLY screws up the PS3? My big brother, whenever he plays PS3, he shuts it off the back like an idiot. It's not the freakin' PS2, for god's sake. The only time you should turn it off like this is when you can't turn off PS3 normally. When you turn it off incorrectly, however, it will make the PS3 freeze more commonly at randomn points, and a HIGHER chance of getting YLOD. I'll probably tell him about it now. This was from my own knowledge.

I would say it has a bad hard drive. i got the 160 bundle (fat) and never had a day of trouble , still using it to this day. The hard drive is the same size as a lap top so maybe upgrade.

As a tech that fixes ps3 most likely your hard drive went out . All that has to be done is take off the black panel on the side of the ps 3 with a flat head screw driver. Then a blue Philips head screw should appear. UN screw that and slide out the hard drive. Nice thing about this will not void the warranty on the system I have done this many time with my systems
