can THW do barrels and rack at sandlaper shows? (thats not how its spelled but whatever) like if u have a speed racking horse that w/t/c s then speed racks, if you took her in barrels and she racked would she be DQ'ed? cuz my friend said u would be, witch is gonna suck if i have to hold her back... but i know we'd do good in speed racking cuz once she starts racckin she does not break gate to go faster. :)
@peacelovehorses3 My Walker does Jumping, Dressage means you go into a gaited class specifically if you go into competition but they can be really fun! I do small jumps. They arent made specially to jump, mine wants to because she loves me and I am a jumping junkie. Hahaha if it doesn't work out, find a horse who can if thats truly what you want or have fun with your walker, they are truly amazing to behold.
My name is Kaycee I'm ten yars old and I love your horse, I was wondering if it is easy to train walkers to jump and ride english? I have a half linger but I neeed a difernt horse to learn to ride english at the riding school I want to go to.
ok so my friend just told me today how Tennessee walking horses walk and trot how they're trot isn't like diagonal legs its like one side then the other
well is the canter the same as other horses or is it different like the trot and if it is how like how do they're legs go apposed to the normal canter with other horses
@jazminestryder I can totally relate! Every week I embarrass myself to I'm so bad at cantering! I always lose my stirrups my feet flop around and last week the horse I was riding took off on me and jumped! It was really bad and just embarrassing
I wish I was that good at keeping a consistent canter... I'm almost 2 years into riding in November 2010 and I suck at it. :(
I am really bad at it, and I can't get the right lead a lot.
Any fellow horse people out there that can give me some help??
I could really use it, when I rode just today I was better bc my feet didn't fall out of the stirrups. But I'm still having problems, a lot of problems. I embarrass myself every week. :( Please help!!!
@jazminestryder i know this comment was a while ago and youve probably improved but ill give you some advice.i used to have trouble picking up the correct lead (both of them) all the time. my trainer then told me to exagerate bending to the side you want the lead on. so if you want the left canter lead exagerate bending left. and vise vers. it works miricals! then you can gradually decrease how much you bend once you start getting the hang of it. oh and remember to ask with your inside leg :)
Are you guys in Indiana or near? i think I might have seen you and a group of Tennessee Walkers on a trail ride. I was there with my own Paint TW. I just remember seeing a horse like that and we were all showing off out gaits.
Very nice canter, both you and the walker no what you are doing. I was wondering how you got him to canter, I can't get my walker to canter in the round pin?
maybe the round pen is too small for your walker? rocky had a lot of problems in the beginning with cantering in circles, because he wasn't really balanced enough to do it with me on him I think! I did a lot of training with him and now I can canter him in a really small circle too!! How old is your horse?
well, he around 20 I think. He still act like a younger horse, spirited. He lately lost some muscle mass. I don't own him, I free lease him or just spoil him and his buddies. I have a video of him in the round pin, if you wish to see. thanks :)
I love a natural rocking chair canter,my classic champagne stallion when i asked him for his first canter ,surprised me when he somewhat reared to perform the gait correctly and natural like they do --awesome horse ,awesome gait
That's a really nice canter. How did you get this horse to have that relaxed rocking chair canter? I've just taught my TWH mare to canter, but need to add that last refining touch to her canter.
yes this looks wonderful! So much better than the movies in which the horses walk so weird because of soring. This movie shows us how Tennessee walking horses are used to walk!

animals7673 9 months ago
@animals7673 well rocky has a very very soft canter, so it's easy to stay in the saddle :D and also just go with the flow and relax your hips :)
