  • are these cousins of the triops?

  • daphnia are fishfood O_o??? hehe, ill tell mr.r to put the culture in his fish tank and watch what happens xD

  • You know, I thought I had a tankful of Daphnia going but after looking at this, maybe not.

Mine tend to almost hop (sink, hop twice, sink and so on) rather than swim like these guys. Perhaps I have a thriving cyclops population?

  • I think those are brine shrimp.

    :P

  • @vuxthebest I'm pretty certain they're daphnia! Admittedly I'm no expert though

  • @SlimTwisted my cyclops seem to swim through the water whereas the daphnia I have do the same as yours. I think it's just a sign that they're big and juicy

  • You must be very proud.

  • I am going to order either daphnia pulex or magna for a 55 gallon fishtank I have in den . No fish yet but due to indirect sun water turned green going to try daphnia if not will go with uv. room has ac so light doesnt heat up the water but does turn it green plants doing great but water is green

  • That's awesome... so how do you start a daphnia culture. I need one for my fishes and fries.

  • I have a small collection of ostracods, which are similar to daphnia. Every once in a while, I drop in a tiny piece of food for them to feed on, and their numbers grow insanely fast! four days ago, I put one piece of wheat chex in, and now there are hundreds of them.

  • nice...i need to get a hobby like this
