Dennis Kucinich is the only Democrat-from-the-Democratic-wing-of-the-Democratic-Party running for president and he is being marginalized and ridiculed. This means American democracy is being marginalized. All we can do is organize and fight back. Get active and save American Democracy. Volunteer, send money, write, speak, anything you can do to help.
people cannot rely on the hope that everyone is playing fair, when the system gives you every encouragement to step on whoever you can to get to the top. the US version of libertarianism is thinly veiled social darwinism.
even if we assume the impossible, that everyone will start on equal footing, this would not ensure fairness or democracy. once someone "lost", they would become the downtrodden with no recourse; they would be subject to the will of the "winners", who would still be competing and not willing to sacrifice greed for the good of another. the mindset and social norms engedered by such a sytem makes it utopian to think that deregulation would fix the problems.
deregulation is disasterous in a capitalist society, look at what laise faire (sp?) did to the system in the 20's. people were working, believing that if they worked hard they could be the next rockafellar. the result was huge profits by the market defauders and mass suffering as the markets imploded due to a lack of regulation. regulation is the only thing that can keep it on life support, before individualistic fraud implodes the entire system again.
there is no way ron paul can make the system "fair" without changing the underpinnings of captial concentration, and de-regulation under our current system will only lead to further concentration. the only way that this competition can be fair is if ron paul is planning to erase inheritance, redistribute capital, magically make everyone have the same business connections and education, it is impossible; this plan would only work in utopia.
i was talking about the deregulation of hedge funds, who have defrauded the market for their own benefit and caused the current instability with no SEC oversight; deregulation furthers the economic totalitarinism that ron paul is against. these newly deregulated pools of capital essentialy manipulate the market , making it impossible for fair competition; even if the same rules applied to mutual funds!
Dennis is the real deal. He seems to be the only democrat taking on the republicans. Dennis' articles of impeachment of Cheney were on CSPAN today. Please check it out if you have't seen it.
just letting these destructive groups go is not going to work, there needs to be a concrete effort towards peace and bringing the war criminals to justice.
im an independent also and can see hillary and obama as toeing the line on the "war on terror" and invading iran. i would never vote for such a candidate. while i agree that ron paul is not your average GOP candidate, I dont see his peace plan as practical. he wants to offer peace, but embolden, with deregulation, the interests that continually push for economic imperialism and militarism.
What's up with the Democracy for America? Kucinich won the poll and now they are saying the winner needed 66% of the votes to get their endorsement. Was that stated somewhere prior to the poll closing? I bet more people would have voted if they knew this up front.
Well it looks like it's still just up to us. Please help donate to Kucinich today! If Ron Paul can raise millions, Kucinich should be able to get double that!
imagine fastlining the decline of all social service in the US. I agree with ron pauls ideas when he talks about the undue influence of the federal reserve (private banks, and corporate influence, but what does he propose to fix it? he wants to deregulate across the board, which would only embolden and empower the halliburton's, mobil/exxons, and dick cheneys of the world.
its utter nonses to have powerful pools of capital in the hands of a few elite, make them even more unaccountable, and hope they will give US citizens a fair shake, its not a utopian world. deregulation under the bush administration has led to nothing but declining living standards. i think most average americans would sacrifice their 60$ tax return in return for making these parasites pay back the money they are stealing from us to provide health/schools, housing,.. basic human rights.
i associate it with totalitarianism because the basic structure is anti-democratic. it is based ownership of the economy in the hands of an elite, who then get praised for "giving" a livelihood to people in what is suppossed to be their country. what is the benefit of providing jobs, which would be increasingly low wage and with no benefits? people can own their capital and work for their own benefit, without a middle man owners/managers stealing from what their labor is creating.
ron paul is essentially rubber stamping this current system by saying that the setup is perfect and that all that is left is to allow things to go further and faster down the path they are already going. deregulation can only work once people are working for their own benefit. US libertarianism, and capitalism , is utopian in todays american society. pools of capital are strong enough to simply dominate any kind of resistance that a tax refund is going to provide the average person.
how can you ask why i consider our economic institutions to be totalitarian when you then say "we depend on them"? that is exactly the point, they dictate the flow of wealth in this country; which would only be more skewed with deregulation. like it or not, the only tool that US citizens have right now to stand up is the state, which is suppossed to be democratic, and if we do not wake up soon that will be gone too!
I've never heard about Kuchinich in Australia before, but now I've heard what he has to say, I like him. The points he raises, most of the world ponders similar questions. Why was there no impeachment? An now Iran? America really controls the world and it would be a relief to restore some sanity. Blessings from Earth +++ The Saint ++++

also, the idea that ron paul will be giving people "independence" from middle men is a bit laughable. he wants to default to corporate interests and large pools of money, which will make us completely reliant on totalitarian economic institutions. right now the only protection that the people can possbily have from these dangers are a state where collective involvement gets uncorrupted people like kucinich elected and further change with the help of grassroots organization.
the idea that small governement is a traditional governement view only exists in GOP rhetoric and is never really happens under a republican administration. they just run up the debt, which leads to taxes, and increase the size of government then leave the mess for someone else to clean up.
Kucincih...You are a great guy and I support you. But, why didnt you say anything about Mike Gravel being banned from the debate in Philadelphia! I was sure you would bring that up.
"It was the darndest thing I've ever seem. It was bit, it was very bright, it changed colors and it was about the size of the moon. We watched it for ten minutes, but none of us could figure out what it was. One thing's for sure, I'll never make fun of people who say they've seen unidentified objects in the sky. If I become president I'll make every piece of information about UFOs available to the public." Dennis Kucinich 2007?
Just a note about the UFO siting. Based on his description it is exactly what my daughter and I saw out in the mojave a few years ago. It is a manned government stealth zeppillin ,shaped like a trangle. When it move over our place out in the desert what struck me was its slow speed I thought some sort of helicopter but there was no
sound. Then it covered the whole nite sky. Kucinich ask someone at the pentagon and see if I am lying.
Granted they are polar opposites. He has a valid point about the similarities. Libertarians are against government regulation of corporations.
Workers and unions have struggled for decades to win the standard of living the middle class now enjoys. Working class and middle class people need a government that works for them in terms of a living wage, health care, housing, higher education. That is where libertariasm fails miserably. That is why Kucinich is the best choice.
I watched the debate and especially liked the bash by corporate shill Tim Russert. Kucinich didn't do the Clinton Shuffle and I respect him for that. Dennis Kucinich is the only democrat I could support. His honesty and truthfulliness were on display, I hope "We the people" didn't miss it.
Dennis did well in the debate but I wish he wouldn't have been so nice to Russert when he baited him with the UFO question. Good grief. And these people consider themselves serious journalists. I like Kucinich and his ideas, but I don't like his campaign. Just like the rest of the politicians with scripted rhetoric like this trying to coerce the people that he is best for the country. The reason his "friend" on the republican side has attracted so much attention is that he speaks from the heart. believe me, intelligent people will listen.

I was at the Boston March on Oct 29. Most people were well informed on the issues, however, many had not heard of KUCINICH... I was shocked. Lets everyone reach deep into their pockets and make Dennis KNOWN to the masses!!!
As for the news cast - two things and its not boobies - first, Ann appeared out of focus with the sign behind her sharp. Switch it. Second use a second camera, as you are doing, but go to it with an edit, so she does not have to be seen on camera switching her focus to the second position. It looks low budget.
I think that a lot of the location footage of Dennis appears to come from volunteers. Try to keep Elizabeth in the shot and try for an angle to unifies the height difference. We can do everything to help Dennis. Go door to door with your DJK t-shirt and ask for money. Call in every radio talk show and push for recognition.
Reading the comments, I agree that when I saw Dennis interviewed recently, he was too quick to use a practiced smile. I know he is trying to put the right look out there, and it's tough, but it is important to be real.
Don't get me wrong, all democratic candidates are extraordinary people, but when they come into the position of power it is only modesty and dedication to the service of mankind that can protect them against human weaknesses, which we all have.
Anne? Genius, Pure Genius with the Cleavage ... we need more o` that; I know it sounds pervy, but trust me on this. Kucinich and Supporters: Persistence and Boobies, a Winning Combination!
where's the unity? Mike Gravel has said he is a fan of Kucinichs's policies, so why make it sound like "run of the mill" that Gravel is out of the NBC debate? Why not highlight the fact that money has been used as an excuse to silence a man who is for peace? More unity required if we are to get Kucinich/Gravel 08!
I constantly run into people that say they love and support all Kucinich's positions and that it's too bad that he has no chance to win.I can't help but believe that,if every person that expresses this sentiment actually votes for Dennis, the"common wisdom"would be turned on it's head.
I am 100% behind Kucinich and his policies, however, everything about him and his campaign strikes me as a bit overly-cautious, over-thought, and disingenuous. Kucinich may be honest and good, but he comes across as un-genuine, and over-thinks how he will appear. Dennis, just be real, any message you have is really diluted when much of your thought-process is taken up by thoughts of your image, and when to smile etc. Just be real.
This is not a negative comment. You are right about the overuse of the smile. Dennis often seems to talk directly to the issue without a prepared statement. When he does this it looks genuine. It can also appear muddled unfortunately.
Yes, unfortunately, the ability to communicate one's message is of the utmost importance. I know it's hard to navigate the minefield of do's and don't's, but the bottom line is, people in general are great BS detectors, they can tell when someone is being real vs rehearsed. Spontaneous vs overthought. The most impact one can have is to be fearless but not foolhardy in one's communcations.
I was hoping this episode would cover Dennis at the Arab American Institute conference that took place in Detroit yesterday, as I wasn't able to go. Great episode though! Keep up the stellar work!
this should be a forum where serious questions are addressed. it would be nice if you answered viewer questions, maybe 3 a week, or atleast 1. i know dennis is busy, but that kind of interface would benefit him greatly. his internet support went up when he was sending respose vids to people on youtube, this would just be an evolution of that
I may not be able to contribute much financially, but I bought my t-shirt and wear it everywhere I go. It definitely gets people talking & asking questions. This weekly update is so informative & entertaining. Thank you! Every show gets better! Dennis rocks!
I added 2 video responses-a rough of a news piece I put together on the Boston Mobilization 10-27. There were many, many Dennis supporters there but not many signs on the march for any candidate- perhaps as a sign of solidarity. There is also a Howard Zinn piece.Pay close attention to how he ties everything together- very Kucinich-like-should be usefull!
Lookin' good. Like the 20/20 program idea, very trendy and economical. Anyone who has access to a list serve program should try to get these circulated on them. Could it be an emerging campaign character? "An economical president that will spend your dollars wisely"...
Since the corporate media will not cover Dennis we must do all we can to spread his name. Everyone should have a bumper sticker on their car and the cars of all their friends and relatives. If you ask people you will be amazed at how many will allow you to put on a sticker.
Also get lawns signs on properties that have visibility and call talk shows. All of these cna be done with no money and can make a huge difference.

Call in every radio talk show and push for recognition.
clarkb45 4 years ago 2
Reading the comments, I agree that when I saw Dennis interviewed recently, he was too quick to use a practiced smile. I know he is trying to put the right look out there, and it's tough, but it is important to be real.

We don't have a perfect candidate, they all have some personal flaws. God help us all.
happyprometheus 4 years ago

Another good episode.
I constantly run into people that say they love and support all Kucinich's positions and that it's too bad that he has no chance to win.I can't help but believe that,if every person that expresses this sentiment actually votes for Dennis, the"common wisdom"would be turned on it's head.
Kucinich in "08"!!!!

12233445566abc 4 years ago
This is not a negative comment. You are right about the overuse of the smile. Dennis often seems to talk directly to the issue without a prepared statement. When he does this it looks genuine. It can also appear muddled unfortunately.
clarkb45 4 years ago
Yes, unfortunately, the ability to communicate one's message is of the utmost importance. I know it's hard to navigate the minefield of do's and don't's, but the bottom line is, people in general are great BS detectors, they can tell when someone is being real vs rehearsed. Spontaneous vs overthought. The most impact one can have is to be fearless but not foolhardy in one's communcations.

Maybe Michael Franti will license his song for free to the Kucinich campaign! Dennis needs a powerful slogan: like Power to the People!
War out.

Dennis Kucinich 2008!
Dennis really should choose Al Gore as his Vice President...
Ron Paul is coo, I'm glad that he supports peace and all, but there is really way to many other issues that I disagree with him on.

SUGGESTION
this should be a forum where serious questions are addressed. it would be nice if you answered viewer questions, maybe 3 a week, or atleast 1. i know dennis is busy, but that kind of interface would benefit him greatly. his internet support went up when he was sending respose vids to people on youtube, this would just be an evolution of that
thedaoofplus1 4 years ago 4
I sent you 100 dollars.
It's all I have to send right now but, I will send more later.
And I love my t!
Thank you for all that you do!
Please make it to the presidency!
America and the world needs your leadership.
