  • nice vid

  • You should be called: killhermits101productions

  • 🌺but you should get a much larger crabitat for the crab- like ten to 15 gallons

  • Good video 🐚🐚🐚

  • Please refer to LHC at landhermitcrabs(DOT)com so you can learn how to PROPERLY care for your crabs. Also refer to hermit-crabs(DOT)com.

  • hermit crabs need a sand or substrate to burrow because they molt. they will get stressed and die

  • Hermit crabs need so much more to live and thrive by. For proper care as how to get your hermit crab to live for possibly decades visit Crab Street Journal. They must have a proper warming source, and a humidity level to breath through their modified gills. To know this, one needs the gauges to do so with. , A proper diet and ocean/sea water with a fresh water pond is also needed. With this set up, they might live a couple of months. A basic proper set up will cost one approximately $100.

  • this is animal abusement!

you love them but i dont think they love you

    dont use gravel only

dont recommend to buy a starter kit

  • @Fishandanimalcare

    Exactly!

There are so many videos about hermit crabs that are so wrong !

I feel really sorry for the hermies :(

  • 1. gravel isnt good for them bcuz when they molt they need to burrow to shed their exo-skeleton

    2. You shouldnt buy hermies with painted shells

    3. You need to have extra shells for when they molt and get bigger

    4. when you buy a hermie you should pick the most active one not the ones that dont come out of their shells.

    5. You need a saltwater bowl for them to bathe in.

All im going to say is that you didnt do any research before you bought him and now he has to suffer, poor little guy :(

  • that gravel is bad for them , and no sponge they grow bacteria

  • HERMIT CRAB KILLER!!!!!!!!

  • I have one too, her name is Hermitione (HR-MYT-IH-OWN) She's name after Hermione but we emphasissed the end

  • I <3 Mine too. Her Name is Gracie...

  • sigh, please please, listen, you are killing the crabs!

    no starter kits

    no pet store food

    saltwater and freshwater and there

you have an awful substrate the need sand of coconut fiber

    they need a buddy

    they need a heater

    they need changing shells

they don't need a pooper scooper

they need a ten gallon tank

  • plz just do it rite'

  • you need a special kind of soil, they like to dig. and also they dont need a sponge. all they need for humidity is a spray bottle and a lid. you also need moss for them to hide in. and if you have soil, you wont need a pooper scooper. :)

  • do the right thing and take this pathetic video down ... should be entitled HOW TO KILL HERMIT CRABS !!! critter keeper is wrong, gravel is wrong, food is wrong, keeping one hermit crab is wrong, where is the heater, what is the humidity ... whether you are a kid or not this video is offensive ... sponges harbour mold and bacteria and should not be used ... where is the salt water ??? sorry kid, i hope in the last 2 years you have educated yourself better on hermit crabs ...

  • get a better tank it deseves more

  • YOU MOTHERFUCKING ZERO YER OLD HERMIT HATER!!!!!

  • what about a light and a heater he will die tommorow

  • 1. Hermit crabs need atleast a 10 gallon aquarium 2. They need both salt and fresh water. 3. They don't drink from sponges. 4. Need atleast 4 inches of SAND or COCONUT FIBRE BEDDING 5. They need a freind 6. Commercial food is BAD FOR THEM 7. They live up to 8o years in proper conditions 8. Painted shells are bad 9. Need atleast 5 atural shells each 10. Meat is the main part of their diet. 11. will not live a long life in this death trap
  • is ur crab dead?

  • Horrible cage

  • gravel isnt a very good idea they burrow to molt and thatcage is too small you put all that stuff in it there is no room for your hermit to move around

  • You dont know shit about hermit crabs.

  • Sand not gravel they molt you know? Not to be rude?

  • Like Hermit crabs? Well click HermieTv below to watch hermit crab shows!

  • thats to small no gravel!!!!!!!!!! how many hermits crabs do you have? you go puppster!

  • y did u put gravel in there???? dat was gay and stupid

  • dont use gravel they love to dig and need to dig when they molt use sand hahahahahah ur such a nub

  • great video

  • @Aqcheercaptain I think it would be pretty pointless to agure with you, so i wont

  • Thanks for all the advice. Nice video.

  • i rocomend a starter kit hahahahaha, making it seem like he has anything else dude use potting soil or eco earth rocks are worse thatn sand

  • You Should Have a 10 gallon tank

  • You obviously don't love them very much..let me guess. That hermit crab is dead. Worst setup I have ever seen.

  • dont use gravel bc if u do they cant burrow in it if they where to molt all 5 of me hermit cranbs have molteted

  • At-least get eco earth. thats the least you can do.

  • Unlike other comments, I think this is a very good video! It covers everything that a first time hermit crab owner needs to know. To everyone who is hating, the pet stores wouldn't sell gravel if it's bad for the crab. I personally feel that both sand and gravel can work. I have used both. Good luck with your crabs! :)

  • @speedstacker51 I think your right!!!!

  • @speedstacker51 You're kidding, right? Pet stores only care about money. I'm not going to hate on this video too much, because I've seen worse, and lots of people are under the misinformed impression that keeping a crab in this condition is perfectly okay. I thought the same thing when I got mine, but after some research, you will quickly realize that crabs are actually delicate exotic pets. They require much, much more than this.

  • @Skitzabeth I use sand now. My crabs are very active, they get fresh fruit, veggies, & bread for food, and they have water, and I mist them everyday and I have a wire cage i put them in almost everyday to get more excersise. And they don't live in one of those cages that would take up half my room. My crabs get a comfortable living area which I can afford. Not a palace. If you can afford to put them in a huge cage thats great! If I had more money I would consider buying a more "decked out cage"

  • The panted shell is bad that can eat the paint if it chips off

  • Wut the fuck your trying to teach people hermit crab tips and your using a fucking starter kit?

  • TOO SMALL!!! Don't get a pet if you can't properly take care of it!

  • Do you even have extra shells little boy

  • dude really gravel? get some sand...you can even just play sand at lowes. its like 2.50 for a 50 lbs bag.

  • $5 for a sprayer/mister

i can get one for like $2 at target

  • This kid is an idiot. He calls himself hermit101, yet he only seems to have one video and is trying to teach people how to look after their hermits by demonstrating on his 1 DAY OLD STARTER KIT that contains the wrong equipment.

Youtube makes it too easy for little dick's like this to encourage people to kill or ruin the lives of their pets.

  • gravel makes the hermit crab legs hurt so get some sand

  • you need sand instead of gravel so they can burrow in the sand because they do that a whole lot

  • you should die you know that! i should have adopted the crab

  • Terrible Video. You should delete this and don't bother to make another.

  • you dont use gravel.you use sand

    /

you have to use 3 inches of sand.

  • You can give them tappp! you can use the bottled water but tap has chlorine! use things like water coditioner kind of like the stuff you put in an aquarium!if you wouldnt put that water in you aquarium then dont give it to the hermits either

  • you dont know NOTHING about keeping your hermit crab safe and happy. OMG U MAKE ME SO MAD

  • OMG u are going to KILL ur hermit crab!!!!!!!!!!!! Starter kits are BAD!!! You need to get an aquirium, how would u feel to live in a square little box? I have 4 hermit crabs and i have them in a 5 galon tank. I got it at walmart for $35.00

  • Okie sorry but the gravel is NOT deep enough, and Gravel isnt good to use for your hermet crab. DUH! You dont know what your doing dude. You need to watch youtube, hermitcrab CARE videos so you know how to care for ur hermit crab.

  • R u trying to kill this hermit crab

WOW what king of owner r u

    2 thumbs down

  • @jacoblover2502 I completly agree. This guy sucks!

  • 1 its to small 2 they cant dig in gravel 3 they need fresh and salt water 4 how do you keep you humitey high in there it needs 70%-80% 5you substrate needs to be 3 times as high as your largest hermit crab 6 they die from chlorine in tap water 7 hermit crabs live in troops 8 no painted shells!!!!! 9 you need more shells 10 you need a heating pad or lamp for temp. 11 your crab isnt moving because you can't care for them
  • This cage would be fine if you fgot them a play pen so they could exercise ever day but i do recommend a bigger tank. you can get big plastic containers at walmart or target for cheep

  • Ur rite i just got a hermit crab starter kit and the crab doesnt have a whole lot of space to move around

  • shutup the cage is fine, good cage

  • you must not love them if you ceep them cramed in there i bet they only live a month

  • Are you trying to kill the hermit crab. Enclosure is too small, you don't use gravel they can't burrow in gravel. This guy doesnt know anything about hermit crabs!!!!!!!!

  • HOW CAN YOU RECCOMEND THIS!!!!!?????

  • Wow you took the words right out of my mouth corkwhore I can't believe people do this to there animals

  • You need way better substrate and separate water bowls for salt and regular. Your crab is going to die with a

Painted sell get more shells. You need

A ten gallon tank with lid and another crab to accompany him/her. That Is if it's not dead already. You also need a heating pad and thermometer/hydrometer do research before you

    Buy any animal. I'm disgusted.

  • Wow is this video on how to

Kill a hermit crab? Epic failure.

  • Hi, I'm not trying to be mean but look at my video for hermit crab care. I think you will be in for a shock. I've spent over $300 on my hermit crab setup and that's not uncommon. I would like to dispel a hermit crab rumor THEY DO NOT DRINK FROM A SPONGE they are wild animals, do you really think they found a wet SPONGE lying around on a beach and thought oh! I'll drink out of this instead of that lake over there! really? i don't think so.

  • TAKE SAND THEY NEED IT TO MOLD!!!!

Where is your saltwater????? they need it.

  • Boring but informational.

  • you love them? YOU LOVE THEM!?

GET THEM A BIGGER CAGE RETARD

  • this is the perfect crabitat! id u want ur crabs to die

  • come on man, do your research

  • this should be a video on how NOT to care for hermit crabs ... you never keep just one hermit crab, they need a bigger tank and friends, they need salt and freshwater, that sponge is doing minimal for humidity, the substrate is completely wrong and should be at least 3 inches deep and not gravel ... i really hope no one takes this advice, because this video is how to slowly kill a hermit crab, not how to care for one ... what climbing can a crab do in that cage ???

  • never ever us rox bad hermit101 bad

  • NEVER USE ROCKS!!!!

  • You need more hermit crabs to keep him company, also get a waaaaaay bigger cage.

  • 5th crab you owned HA!!!! what happened to the other 4?

  • I've owned 1hermit crab, and I got it 2days ago, and I know not to use gravel or a plastic tank >.>

  • you r not suppoed to use gravel no wonder he dont come out tht can hurt his little feet and tht sponge is way to big ur supposed to have enogh space so he can dig dur but he caint molt in gravel

  • how old r u

  • i know hermit crabs are awsome

  • Sorry but there is so much wrong with your crabitat.#1-Dont use gravel as a substrate.#2-You need atleast a 10 gallon.#3-Dont use tap water unless you declorinate it.#4-Dont use shells as a water dish.#5-You need to supply them salt water.#6-You need atleast 3 crabs.DO YOU GET MY POINT?DONT GIVE CARE ADVICE IF YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING.(NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN BTW)VISIT MY CHANNEL FOR MORE INFORMATION.(THUMBS UP SO EVERYONE CAN READ)

  • @HermitCrabCare123 lolz man your the first to know as much about hermit crabs as me this kid is screwy.

  • Comment removed

  • Get a life louser !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you shouldn't because it is hard for then to dig in maybe around the food and water bowls just a little bit so the the food and water bowls to rub off the sand and other substrate.

  • cool

  • Bad cage Dood!!!! UMMMM get another Hermit crab i mean, get three or More!!!! Your pore hermie is lonly it needs buddies!!! If you look in the wild theres HEEPS of them theres not one is there?? Your right you ARE a beginer!! LOL

  • MakeupKnowItAll is right.

  • you need at least a 10 gallon tank don't use gravel sand and coconut fiber are the best

  • @animallover201013 can you use gravel like for fish bowls?

  • Hey- Im not sure what setup you have now but I thought I would clear up a few things for other people. A cage needs to be alot bigger (around 10gallons) so that it can keep the humidity up - around 70% humidity. Gravel should not be used- the crabs need to molt so the burrow down therefore sand, crushed corral should be used. All water should be declorinated too. Final note- never keep a hermit crab on its own! minimum of 2 - more the better without over crowding!

  • That sucks it's small...u need 2 so they won't get lonely...and gravel isn't good because it can cut there claws so get sand or the soil stuff..u obviously have no clue what ur talking bout... Not trying to be mean

  • not too be mean

  • WOOW worst crabitat ever!!!!!!! im sorry but you need coconut fiber, WAAY bigger tank and more than one crab .... if you have two... then thts sad GET A HERMIT CRAB GUIDE BOOK ..... i feel soo bad for them!

  • i think you should get another crab because the hermit crabs like to travel in packs, and no gravel but other than that everything is...PERFECT!!!!!!!!!;)

  • your right mine died when i got mine he was already dead.

  • Don't ever get the starter kits, they don't give the proper things you need. What you need is at least a 10 gallon glass tank, sand as substrate, water dish, more than one hermit crab, humidity gauge, thermometer, heat mat and/or heating lamp, and a lot more things than that. People say that hermit crabs are low maintence pets and good for beginners and that is completely wrong. They take a lot more care than the pet stores or most people call for. I hope this helped.

  • i'm getting some hermit crabs in april! i can't wait to get them! this video gives very good advice :)

  • I am pretty much an export on crabs so if you need any tips just ask me anything!...first off youll love crabs ... they r soo interesting in soo many ways, any way have any questions just ask me byee!!!!!!

  • no for your hermit crabs you need sand not gravel at least 3 inches deep and a 10 gallon tank but it depends how many your getting

  • i tried to use wat my local pet shop uses but my hermit hates it nd love to eat bannas nd apples is dat ok?

  • yeah it is better for them then the commercia food.

i feed my hermies peanut butter veggies fruit and the commercial food.

  • yes thts fine crabs actually can have over 50 different things to eat...like Broccoli, carrots, orange peals, little pieces of cut up meat, peanut butter, Even bark from trees.. but wash it before you let them munch on it

  • your crab cannot borrow in gravel

  • Comment removed

  • Are you talking about the gravel? they need a good sand or soil, not gravel. They cant molt in gravel and will be forced to molt above ground

  • yes they do smarts,

they burrow when they molt there shell

  • @DartDevil381 No dip

  • you should use an aquarium glass tank ! and much more bigger more climbing things !!! and a good substrate that they could dig in too and to molt in ! dont use stones , gravel !!u can use beach sand bake it in 300 degree Celsius !.

  • you gota get a bigger tank and some more crabs. crabs love to live together.

  • And I dont know where your getting your crabs but their like $6.00 in canada $15.00 is a ripoff!

  • i live in canada and mine is $15.00 too

  • Yeah sorry, petsmart is like $6.00 but most are around $15.00 Petsmart crabs are usually sick and stressed though

  • Comment removed

  • in mass.. they are $7.00...i think thts a good price too

  • Those pellets are crap, feed it tuna and vegetables and stuff! also ditch the gravel and the pooper scooper is a money ripoff from petstores. They should live at least a year or 2.

  • you need some eco-earth or some playsand or somthing that they can molt in. Also a better tank. maybe a ten gallon glass aquarium. (I have a twenty gallon that I'm setting up.)

  • i got a ten gallon for 14 dollers

  • hay techdeckaction you dont need sand that size tank is good for two stop telling him what to do

  • i didn't really watch the vid yet, but ur cage is too small, not to be mean. please get ur crabs a larger tank. I AM NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN!
