I made this tonight and it was really good. It was quick, economical, and hearty. I added some extra pasta per my family's preference then popped it into a casserole dish in the warmer to help tighten it up a bit more. The kids loved it and it made a ton so I have left overs (bonus!). Thanks so very much for passing this recipe on!
Dear Betty, I would love to try this recipe. The food you make looks really delicious. Thanks for sharing this recipe. By the way, can you make a recipe from your grandmother? Please answer comment. - Jason from Malaysia
@Louise4251 Hi Jason, Thanks for your comment on the Mac 'n Cheese Skillet Casserole. I don't think I have any recipes from my grandmother; she was a great cook, just didn't write instructions down.
this recipe is wonderful. thank you so much. i am a subscriber and fan of your videos, i asked you before if you ever considered auditioning for "The Next Food Network Star". but anyway, i love Hamburger Helper lol. one of my favorites is the chili macaroni kind, which is very heavy. with this recipe of yours however i can cut the fat by half by using hot dog chili with zero fat, yet when i cook it it tastes just as good as that horrible boxed dinner ive loved so much. thank you so much betty
I accidently clicked on this video cooking lesson but ever since I watched it. I watched mostly of your cooking video as its very easy to learn. (^_^)
I had put your videos into my favorites :D hihihi
Do you have facebook account? Coz i would love to add you as friend if its ok with you.
Thank you so much, Betty..for the easy cooking lesson makes me want to learn more about cooking. (^_^)
hi Betty again, thank you for your quick response on your (3 bean salad recipe) it seem like you have great hobby & enjoy it too & may I say you have a really great personality too
hi Betty it me again, Thank you for your quick response on the your (3 bean salad) sound like you have a great hobby & enjoy it alot & may I say you have a really great personality too
The cheese sauce was an interresting idea. I've always done the chili fresh made and combined the macaroni with it. I'm going to try the cheese sauce next time. Thanks for the post.
I'm really just getting into Macaroni and Cheese a strange as that sounds. I've never liked the boxed variety even as a kid. I made homemade Mac N Cheese recently for my husband and son, and found out that i do like it! I live in Florida and it has been unusually cold here, and I was thinking of making a big pot of chili, but instead I'm going to make this. Looks delicious, I can't wait to try it! Thank You for another great recipe Betty =]
I hope you like the Chili Mac 'N Cheese. I also have 3 other macaroni and cheese recipes in bettyskitchen, if you want something a little different! Thanks for your comment!
Awesome dish! Unfortunately I don't have canned chili anywhere around where I live. Any substitute? But I bet that mac and cheese would already taste good without the chili sauce!
It would be fine without the chili sauce. Also, if you should make chili, you could use the leftovers for this recipe! I have some *great* chili in bettyskitchen! Thanks for your lovely comment!
Hi do you have a recipe for cheese skillet and home fries (like they make in friendlys restaurant) I'm from the UK and love to eat that each time I go to the US but would really like to give it a go at home!! Thanks!!
I'm not familiar with "cheese skillet and home fries" or with Friendly's Restaurant. Our restaurants around here do serve "cheese fries." That might be similar. They are very good!
Brilliant. :) I didn't know what kind or recipe I was looking for until I watched this.. It's so simple, but something different! I will be making this this week. What do you recommend serving with it? I'm sure a salad would be great, but do you have any other ideas? Thank you, Betty!
Thanks! And thanks for planning to try it! To be honest, a green salad and some French bread would round out the perfect meal. If you are just really bummed out on salads, try a green vegetable that you like..maybe green peas, asparagus, green beans, or a (made from frozen) vegetable medley--with broccoli, carrots, water chestnuts, etc. Use individual servings of olive oil to dip the heated French bread in. Good luck with your meal!
Thanks for the suggestions! I am kind of burned out on side salads, and funny as it sounds, when watching this I never even thought of other veggies! :) I think I will make it with some brocolli (which I love with pasta) and the french bread with some toasted garlic and olive oil! Thank you!
Another great (and super easy) recipe, Betty. I really appreciate the ease and deliciousness of this dish. Perfect for weeknights...and about a hundred times better than a boxed hamburger skillet. Thank you very much for posting.
You are quite welcome! It's about as easy as recipes come!--but it makes a hearty meal that one would think took some time and effort! Thanks for your kind comment!
I needed this video two days ago Betty! I guess now I`ll just half to upload my visit to...WENDYS!!! I try to fix it next weekend! Unless you come out with something easier before then.
I *really* don't think it can get any easier than chili mac 'n cheese! (If you don't want to make the cheese sauce, you can prepare a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese, and then add a can of chili to it--not quite as good!)
