since you are the dwarf noble, which allows you to make BIG money with little help of Gorim, i'd definately save up some money to get a few very cool, very expensive items - like felon's coat, although since you're an archer Far Song longbow is probably more important. i'd also go for andruil's blessing. lifegiver is gr8 as well (although my rogue has key to the city and harvest festival ring - dex and attack bonuses)
I smell Turkey right now... I don't know just throwing that out their. It smells really good. i think I'm gonna pause this video at... lemme see were i am... 3:52 and make a turkey sandwich. I'm kinda debating what i should put on it though, what do you think?
Interesting as always. It looks like you have rapid shot on while using a Dalish bow when fighting earlier. Rapid Shot and the Rapid Aim property on Dalish bows do not stack. Rapid Aim decreases your aim by 0.3 seconds and consequently that's as fast as rapid shot can make you. You cannot decrease the animation coefficient on bow shots which really kills the build with comparison to dual wielding. So you can leave rapid shot off after Dalish bows and take advantage of criticals.
Since I'm doing a (roughly) similar playthrough right now, I can't help but wonder, what's your choice of skills? I assume you're getting 4 in Combat. Will you go 4 into Trap Making or you'll stick to lower level traps (to preserve materials, for example)? Poisons? Herbalism?
Not to mention Coercion. With about 16/17 skill points to spend (high level, tomes, starting skills), it's hard to divide, especially at the beginning.
Also, what are your plans for the second specialization?
I will max combat and traps (you need the higher level traps since they use different, easier-to-get reagents. Metal shards are scarce). Once thats done points go into coercion. So far I used morrigan to craft my pots and I dont need poisions. Later on i will maybe use another char to craft some bombs if there are too few at the vendors.
Ah, so you will use other chars. That answers my questions I guess. As for poisons, since you have one level from the start from rogue so getting it higher wouldn't cost you that much.
But yes, coercion seems to be more important.
I'm planning to limit my interaction with other characters for the end of that urn quest (and perhaps for their sidequests), so leaving out herbalism completely is not an option. I'll need those pots against dragons...
@chilwil07 A little late on advice since I've finished my run. Combat yes, but poison wasn't that important. No, thank you, to max herb. With proper tactics you don't need bigger pots (more than what you can find).
Aww I was hoping for you to show your stats and talents... Also how come you're going for longbow instead of shortbow? Are you going to get Arrow of Slaying and Master Archer?
I will show the stats and talents in the next movie.
Eventually i will probably get AoS and MA, but I will have to get 30str anyways to wear some decent armor and then longbow is far superior (shared dmg factor with str).
I can explain some thoughts behind my decisions in the next video if you would like to.
With the hotfix, shortbow gets 0.6 damage per point of dex, while Longbow gets 0.3 per point of str or dex. So 3 dex means 1.8 damage for shortbow while 3 points in either str or dex equals 0.9 damage for longbow. Are you going to go for Wade's medium armor for -20% fatigue (assuming you can kill High Dragon) or Red Jenny Seekers?
Sorry for the questions; I just recently started playing on Nightmare with a rogue archer and am looking up to more experienced players for build suggestions.
Red Jenny Seekers are useless with rapid shot so I will probably go for Wade's medium for the stamina boost and -fatigue.
I will check the bow calculations again but considering i will need 34 str for wade's medium armor and 34 dex to use Falons -> longbow does seem like the better option.
You would need to use much inferior armor (like T2-3) to support a high enough dex to actually make shortbows better. Not considering there is no shortbow to even come close to Falon's.
At equal amounts of str and dex a shortbow does more damage. The two best shortbows are Whitewood Shortbow (3 damage, 5% crit), in a chest at the loc of the qunari mercenaries in the Trial of Crows quest, and the tier 7 The Dark Moon (2 will, 3 armor pen). But since neither of those have rapid aim you can wear the dalish vendor's hat with 6 attack and rapid aim... just throwing ideas.
heres a little trick i know,if you got warden's peak, you can go and do it as fast as you can and wear wardens commander armor(steel, that is better than med armor) for me only needed 26str,and i had a cunning bard/ranger build, pet got buffed too :P,and i was using daggers, for more dps,and the fact that i couldn't use bows with cunning build effectively ,i did all the quests for the armor and best weapons first :P my build is 26 str,26 dex, rest cunning for now(u save alot more stats so more dmg)

Hahaha. I have to admit, this is pretty pro.
Did you end up finishing Brecilian Forest alone? (eg: slay Witherfang or Vartharon solo)?
Thnks for posting this up. I never knew it could be done haha.
