I have a bookcase that looks like that, but when I pull one side out from the wall there's no hidden room. Is there a trick I need to know to pull it out from the wall and reveal a hidden room?
@nathaniel1220 I didn't see a gap once the door was completely closed, but even if there was, it's nothing a piece of rubber weather stripping wouldn't cure.
Very nice job. But to make it look more real I would not finish it flush with the wall. I would have it as though it is pushed up against the wall. Looks very nice though
@jacksonbaseball22 actually what you are probably seeing is the shadow caused by the handmade fluted casing that the bookcase insets into about 5/8 of an inch. The actual gap is less than 1/16 of an inch. You can walk right by it and never know that it would open. The home owner was quite pleased.
I think its a little too close to the doorway. People might notice how similar in size and shape your bookcase is to a typical door in the house.
