  • I'm not being harsh, but when people say 'why don't peta pay for treatment?' at the end of the day the dog is not their responsibilty, the owner should take better care of him & provide significant medical treatment. If the owner can't afford the treatment, the kindest thing is to put them to sleep, the owner made it clear he didn't care for the dog when he didn't want him back. Like Ingrid said the dog was just another thing, an object.

  • Heartworms are treatable in their EARLY stages, but the treatment is expensive and is not without risks, treated dogs go through weeks of discomfort while the worms are killed and expelled from their bodies.

  • They didn't have to euthanise the dog. They could have paid for his or her vet bill. They don't know that he would rather die.

  • ok this is nice and all but I've read comments from PETA about pits needing to be put to sleep anyway, and they total spay and neuter of pets to basically wipe out them as "a pitiful version of the original". I also understand PETA is against pet ownership period. I wonder, is PETA against abortion of infant children? I know they wouldn't like it if cows/horses/etc. were given abortions but what about human babies? Since people according to PETA are animals too. So are they?

  • There are other groups that focous on "life." When 60,000 cats and dogs are killed in solely the US each day due to overpopulation, and abusive owners, so many lives could be spared by simply neutering/ spading your pet. "People" are what PeTA is fighting against. And PeTA does believe in 'pets' assuming they're loved and cared for (they reunited hundreds of pets with their families after Katrina). PeTa has saved countless lives and is one of the most amazing organizations in existance.

  • I don't understand when people cyr out "There is an overpopulation problem!! there aren't enough homes!!. But if you look at the proliferation of puppy mills and pet shops in recent years that claim does not make sense to me. Obviously there are homes available or puppy mills wouldn't be making any money.
