  • Yeah, I like it too :-)

  • Lol we made fun of the automated voice so much in D.C

"Step back doors closing.... Step back doors closing..... HEEYY!!! STEP BACK! IM TRYING TO CLOSE MY DOORS!!"

  • I'm a metro operator and i'm white.

  • @SpiderPig115 What union represents metro operators? I am a railroad employee and we use the UTU

  • If you value your life, you won't travel on the Greenbelt after 5PM. Violent blacks are on the prowl at that time.

  • Why are all the metro system drivers black? Why would they trust monkeys to run this public transportation system?

  • @Lrdvltr suck my banana ya hairy ho

  • @broxboy86 You're a chimp. Your life has no value.

  • So many wild chimps on the Metro and driving the trains. Its a miracle that wrecks do not happen on a daily basis. Planet of the Apes style management. Stupid fuking chimps!!!

  • @JackRoller008 This system would be so much more effective if it wasn't entirely run by niggors.

  • Passengers, not customers

  • @TheDylanJoyce You read my mind! I said the same thing lol

  • @SummerBaby1984 i did?

  • @TheDylanJoyce Yeah you did lol :D

  • there was a dude standing in the way in nyc subway, my brother told the dude to look out so we could go on... the guy said fuck no and he said " if you were an adult" my brother said its your lucky day asshole and dropped that motherfucker... people around us clapped lmao... fun day until the police arrested my bro..

  • Ha! Classic Metro!

  • ding doong ding doong!

  • Was that Michael Moore entering the train at the beginning? lolz. J/k. to me it kinda looked like it.

  • lol I think the voice got mad

  • wow i think i was on that train.... LOL the door kept opening and closing...

  • That happens on almost every train. I have been on a train where the driver kicked everybody off because he couldnt get the doors to close, some tool was holding them open.

  • thats what they call a "dorker". man i need a car lol i love the subways though

  • Or the traffic is to much and other reasons

  • in nyc the only exception to the move between cars ban is if the police or train crew tells you to in the event of an emergency.

  • nobody in nyc cares if its illegal to cross between cars, lots of people do it and i do it and cops and crew dont care, its a stupid rule.

  • I miss DC metro. I miss the voice...

  • @wdazzle

Yeeees, me too! I went to DC in November 2008 and I really loved that voice! Infact, everytime my sister and I entered in the metro, I repeated to her the voices's instructions! *__*

  • In Australia if you push on the doors of a bus while it's in motion it activates an automatic brake. This is easy and really funny if the bus is crammed with you and your school friends.

  • Its true. In NYC, there is a vestibule between each car that you can walk through,

  • ive lived in DC most of my life, and I hate that robotic subway voice

  • it's sorta reprtitive o.o

  • What was the point of posting this video, lol.

  • ahh people are stupid sometimes.

  • what train?

  • it the dc train

  • what line?

  • it looked like the red line

  • *voice* STEP BACK BITCH!!

  • @triniyankee HAHAHAHA! LMBO!

  • the guy hoo walk in a 056 looked susopishis

  • wow I only rode The metro once... Too bad you can't pass between cars still? I once had some guy going off about the U.S. government.. I quickly ran to the car behind me (as well as another guy) so I can ride without hearing the guy ramble.

The metro was great I love the open feel of it.

  • You can pass through the cars.....just be sure that you dont get caught. lol If a Metro employee or a Police officer catches you doing that, you will either get arrested, pay a BIG fine, or even both. Its because those are emergency doors.

  • wow really? That's nuts...

  • I heard that someone can move legally from car to car on the New York City subways.

  • no, it's illegal to move btwn cars on the NYC subway

  • herenthere, technically it is illegal to move between cars on the nyc subway, but people do it all the time anyway, and there's no enforcement. there are automated announcements on some of the newer cars, at least on the numbered lines, saying it's illegal and dangerous, but no one pays attention.

  • cops dont even care, i havent seen anybody get ticketed or fined for doing that yet.

  • you cant move between cars??? seriously? why? that sorta seems ridiculous

  • That's only for emergencies, or it is intended only for the conductor's use.

  • munimannersdotcom

  • OMG that bulldaggah got PISSED!

  • pointless video. could've been any door on the train being blocked.

  • OMG DC Metro I miss you so much

  • Now they just close on you.

  • If you call that blocking the doors then you haven't seen the trains during rush hour traffic!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Omg i miss the ding dong i coming home soon DC!!

  • I like the new voice over as long as the ride is still the same.

  • Dc Metro >>>>NYC Metro ...hehe Go DC GO

  • its a new train i live in dc

  • The doors opened again while they were closing because the operator pushed the open button to let someone else onto another car one button 36 doors per side do the math. Also if you cycle the doors rapidly the door chime circuitry cannot keep up

  • I miss the ding dong.

  • I do too! Doors Closing....Ding-Dong.....*doors close*

  • rotf,

    i hate when that happens.

  • Jack ass! Step back, doors closing!

  • She should have said, "Get you Ass in or out Qickly so the darn doors can close!"

  • I remember it used to say. Doors Opening *DING DONG* doors closing * DING DONG* haha

  • YEA I MISS DEM DAYS

  • me too!

  • Please stand clear of the doors. Thank you. Doors closing.

  • Yeah, is that voice new? Last time i rode the Metro was in 2005

  • Yep, they have new voice overs in 2006

  • What I would say to that person that is in the way of the doors would be "Get the heck away from the doors!"

  • hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Wow, that's so cool! Their trains are way cooler than New York City's trains.

  • its not a stupid video its cool...What line was that on blue, green what?

  • The automated doors on the Rohr cars used by Washington, D.C. Metro are similar to the SF BART train automated doors (Rohr Industries also built the A and B cars for SF BART).

  • Though these aren't Rohr cars. Based on various interior details, these appear to be Breda rehabs.

  • Gotcha.

  • Note: it wasn't the guys fault...he just happened to be standing near the malfunctioning doors

  • Actually, it doesn't necessarily have to be the one door. The operator has to open and close all the doors to get one that's not closing properly. Thus on a typical six-car train, if one door's not closing right, all 18 doors must be opened and closed. The operator can tell which car has the problem by looking at the red lights on the exterior.

  • @WashingtonDCguide

yep. cause he never moved and it still closed

  • Did anyone else notice the train stopped again at the end of the video?

  • I love it when the METRO malfunctions! I live in Chicago, but my aunt and uncle live in Silver Spring, so we take the red line to get to DC. I remember we had to get out of the train because it was short cirtuting. The train start4ed moving and the doors opened when we were in the tunnel. This is a pretty funny video though. Nice job!

  • There is nothing that pisses me off more in the morning than trying to get to work and having that shit happen. Stupid, lazy, fat people not finding a perfectly good, open door like the one in this video and instead trying to crowd another one to get in holding everyone up. Fuckers.

  • Me too! I hate it when tourist try to hold the door for a huge group of people, like it's an elevator & just stand in the door & wave @ everybody to come on over. & the train has to hold, it sucks! Then they act all surprised when the door trys to chop their hand off...wish the doors did that. But it's da best when the train operator calls them out on the speaker, haha!!

  • today in philly on the mfl el the operaator was like get off the door get off the door

  • Favorite was when someone was standing in the door, the T/O announced, "Sir, don't stand in my doorway like that!"

  • they should make the doors more ..whats the word... like when the doors close.. you would have to be a bodybuilder to hold them back... hey... let this train go or get crushed.. take your pick

  • lol Metro might get sued if that happens.

  • is it only fat people ? or the late business person sticking their briefcase in the doors ? or the guy who is trapped at the entrance.. you know those guys.. the ones who wanna badly get on the train n when the doors slightly open they step forward and quickly step back when it shuts and plays that game until the train pulls off... i in my teen years have given those guys a friendly wave goodbye

  • I wish they would bring back the simle voice, 3 seconds of doors closing, now its seven seconds, metro trying to speed up time?

  • That happened when Metro's general manager at the time, Dick White, actually started riding his own transit system and observed the bad behavior of its regular riders. His solution? Replace the door chimes. Note that White was dismissed not long afterwards.

  • it was a shame i liked the old one with the familiar two toned chime and the cool feminine voice that simply said "doors opening" and "doors closing"

  • did they just install this new voice? i haven't been back to arlington in a while... i miss the chick voice too. in chicago there's just this pretentious pompous guy talking "this is jackson! in the direction of travel, doors open on the RIGHT at jackson!"

  • Ahhh, the 'CTA Guy' voice. I know really well the voice you're talking about, as I hear that guy's annoying voice all the time whenever I ride buses and trains in Chicago!! However(as much as I dislike the 'CTA Guy' voice), the nasal(sp?)-sounding woman who does the prerecorded voices on Pace suburban(Chicago) buses is worser, IMHO.

I live in Chicago, btw, in case you were wondering, and know all these things, since I ride public transit here all the time.

  • New voice as of 2006 iirc. This is actually a second version of what the new voice was supposed to be. The first one didn't come out to be very good. Theres still some cars that have the older voice.

  • This is the old noise from the Washington DC Metro-now its this musical scale-I've been there recently-The doors obviously don't always do that-someone but have pressed a button to many times!

  • I LOVE doing that on the N train....only on the N train

  • i dont like the xylophone charms, they should have the old charms back

  • How about the old mechanical trolley bells

  • When it did the two note charm, instead of this charm, anyhow, the reason it sounds different is because these are the newer models and plus the way they sound out side when stopping or going is different two due to new motors.

  • Get out of the fucking way dumb shit

  • the voice thing is really funny "Step back doors closing"
