Hi Moss, Curly initially arranged the solo and composed my second banjo part using a combination of sources including a piano score. He got 2-3 Classic Banjo arrangements from Clarke and arranged the solo and composed my part (2nd banjo) while we learned the piece as a duo. Clarke began to play the Solo and made additional changes. Curly composed and arranged the Cello Banjo part during our practice sessions playing the low horn solos and regular root-five bass notes. Have fun with it!
Hi Curious, Thanks for your comment! Here's a description from wikipedia: "In 1910 Canadian composer Louis-Phillipe Laurendeau arranged "Entrance of the Gladiators" for a small band under the title "Thunder and Blazes," and sold this version throughout North America. It was during this period that the song gained lasting popularity as a screamer march[1] for circuses, often used to introduce clowns." Some folks even refer to it as "Entry of the Clowns". Regards, Carole Anne

Are you playing the Arthur Stanley arrangement of Thunder and Blazes? Would the cello banjo simply be playing the 2nd banjo part an octave lower?

Wow, I didn't think anything could make this piece of music more awesome, but having it played on three banjos seems to have done the trick.
I wonder why this piece of music is eternally associated with clowns and the circus? Anyone know?
