  • Dylan would be probably is giving massive props to someone keeping a true tone rather then rely on crappy drum machines auto tune and comp created loops.

  • As far as i know bob dylan neither invented the hamonica nor was he the first person to playit along with a guitar...so move on ladies and gentlemen and enjoy the tunes

  • OH WOW! AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR AND HARMONICA?! HE'S COPYING BOB DYLAN!

Jeff Tweedy isn't trying to be Bob Dylan.

    He's being Jeff Tweedy.

    So. Fuck off.

  • I also disagree with the idea that he's having a good time.

  • Accusing someone playing folk music of ripping off Dylan is a nerd's way of shit-talking something without having an actual reason. Beyond the whole guitar/harmonica thing, there's not a whole lot in common. You nerds just got served.

  • nobody can play harmonica and guitar anymore without being called a bob dylan wannabe so since bob dylan has done it nobody else can.......if music was like that it wouldn't be around

  • he's just playing music, having a good time and loving it

  • whos Dylan?

  • Whoever thinks Tweedy is trying to be like Dylan, then you obviously need to open your ears. Tweedy has a way better voice and overall better feel. His songs are his. Think of all the other musicians today... all the music is rooted from the 60s. It's just the way music works. When you hear something it becomes part of you. Maybe he sounds kinda like Dylan but lots of people do because he was such a big musician and so well known and well listened.

  • I just think this was the original way Jeff played it by himself then shared it with the band and what came out was the studio version...I don't think he was thinking of Dylan at all when he wrote/played this for the first time and this is how he would play it say in his basement drunk or what not and not in the studio with a full band

  • Dylan wasn't the first guy to play harmonica, strum an acoustic, and sing folk songs. Who's to say Tweedy wasn't influenced by the performers that influenced Dylan? It's all been done before.

  • @fiercelyme You are so true, what about woody? U.T. did it all, being from St. Louis and seeing them a few times. Jeff and Jay are unique, everyone heard someone play before them. He may like Dylan but he's not ripping off anyone so "texscot316 fuk off !!!"

  • @jczother Do you ever converse with real people face to face, jczother? Do you normally interject with "f*k off !!!" and "dumb a**" when you're talking to them? Here's a little tip -- over-the-top expletives add nothing to the persuasiveness of your argument, but rather make you seem ignorant. I can entertain the possibility that Tweedy was influenced by someone who influenced Dylan, like Guthrie. Fine -- you got me!

  • folk music is handed down. Dylan played other people's songs all the time.

real artist don't get hung up on things like that.

  • I actually saw Tweedy and one of his sons at a Dylan show at the Aragon in Chicago a few weeks ago, so he definitely is a fan of Dylan.

  • I think it's similarity to Dylan's early sound is obvious, what no one can contest is his talent and ability to transcend this sound and create the others... if others don't get it... I am sorry for their loss.. :-)

  • He's obviously emulating Dylan, and he knows that, and he knows people know that. It's an homage. The album version of this song is much different. Tweedy is plenty talented enough to play it any way he wants -- he doesn't need to rip off Dylan to be good -- he's doing it on purpose.

  • @texscot316 well said tex Tweedy is the man

  • thanx ...

  • @texscot316 You're nuts man. He's as original as Dylan and has a long way to go.

He is with one of the greatest bands ever most of the time. Last time I checked You used a harmonica when you did a solo set, dumb ass

  • @texscot316 As much as it sounds like Dylan, it also sounds like an unrecorded crown jewel of Springsteen's 'Nebraska.' Jeff's voice gets pretty uncanny.

  • @texscot316 fucken amen

  • Shut the f**k up

  • he's just playing good folk music. this is so different than bob dylan...did you realize that? you think just because he's playing harmonica and guitar that he is ripping off dylan? stupid. what song of dylan's is this even similar to? can't people write and play music that is in the style of their favorites? if you don't like folk music, then stfu

  • don't insult others when your understand is so small that you don't know what the concept of inspiration is.

  • Look at this! Is it Oasis in your "Favorites" category???

... how did you qualify Tweedy? Stereotypical?

Maybe you have balls, but you sure have no hears.

  • Your lame if you go to peoples profiles just to counter argue.

    LAME.

    Anywho, Oasis aint typical broski.

not my fault you got cocks and balls covering your ears to realize this dickery

  • Pepe le loser

  • these shows are magic,it's an unplugged show and at the end he does a couple of tunes "unplugged"!!

  • LOVE JEFF TWEEDY, LOVE WILCO

  • You're a tool bag for saying "tool bag"

  • you're pretty witty.

  • Listen man, don't tell me shit I already know.

  • lol. are you like always on youtube?

  • what are the songs jeff plays backstage in the movie trying to break your heart. he sings something like "last night i had a dream i killed you and i was ok with it" something along those lines. can anyone help me with that?

  • well the quote in your comment was from via chicago on the album summerteeth

  • "i dreamed about killing you again last night, and it felt alright to me"

    Via Chicago - Summerteeth

  • one more question (sorry lol): what is the song playing in the sceen where jeff is throwing up and the guy asked if its the meds. the lyrics go like, "i said all i said and done all i can do, i cant get along with you" thanks again

  • It's called sugar baby. I believe the original song is by Dock Boggs. I know it's not on any wilco albums but you can get it off itunes. It's on the harry smith connection folk music tribute or something like like that.

  • it sounds so good

  • rocked Brookyln this yr....thanks wilco

  • Bob Dylan-esc

  • Wilco owns Bob Dylan (yes i know there is no 'wilco' i am saying the band)

  • can't agree with that, man. both great though.

  • agree wholeheartedly. the guys in wilco are far greater musicians and i think tweedy can rival dylan as a songwriter any day.

  • No one can Rival Dylan, he brought fire from the gods - but he may channel him.

  • amazing...

  • this is brilliant, im so happy wilco is tearing it up

  • tweedy is a hero

  • Fantastico, inspirationalisco, wilco musico woah o

  • Best comment evar!

  • Great songs-great artists deserve great comments. haha

  • Tweedy is better solo.

  • if i could i'd give you a thumbs up and a thumb down;

    depends on certain songs

  • He does a version just like this on "Sunken Treasure: Live in the Northwest." It's actually must better on that too; soundboard quality.

  • It reminds me of some of Springsteen's solo stuff, particularly the "Ghost of Tom Joad".It's cool!

  • I agree. I love that album

  • If i would have to pick a Springsteen song that this song reminds me of it's "Mansion on the Hill". It was off the Nebraska album. But yeah, i could see the ghost peeping his head too.

    Great song isn't it?

  • Anyone know where I can get an mp3? This is an incredible version.

  • The song is on his Live DVD, "Sunken Treasure" and mp3 downloads of the performance come with it.

  • god is a dangerous word, but he is definitely better than most people i know.

  • Aren't we all so out of tune?

  • so dylanesque

  • indeed, but very nice! makes me want to listen to more of his solo stuff...

  • Yeah, it would have been better to say, "I am so... out of tune... with you."

  • jeff tweedy is god!

  • he doesnt have that verse in this version...

  • I got my name... from rock 'n roll. Great.
