  • Santa?

  • is this still the fastest jet around.Im sure i heard this was the fastest aircraft ever and that every time it flew the structure cracked and warped. i could be wrong

  • @slofty1980 warped because of the heat. You're right. That's why they stopped using them.

  • I WANT ONE

  • the point is and still remains air power of the world the USA do not forget, nasa and aif force are and always be the world domination nation in the skys.....

  • Not with Obama in the White House.

  • @cdlmn63 Yeah, the yanks hoped that the black bird would be undetectable. And sure, it was hard to spot on almost any equipment. But don't forget that all it took was a 19yr old reqruit in northen sweden to spot the SR-71 and successfully lock a missiledefense on it. They tried to fly over undetected but had to turn back or risk getting blasted out of the sky by a friggin' kid.

  • @Nanakiyami The SR-71 made its debut years before Pyotr Ya. Ufimtsev's ground-breaking research made possible today's stealth technologies. The SR-71's greatest protection was its high top speed, which made it almost invulnerable to the attack technologies of the time; over the course of its service life, not one was shot down, despite over 4,000 attempts to do so. All the pilot had to do when a SAM was fired was to accelerate.

  • why shall we see a sr71 blackbird fly? whats the point of it?

  • the black bird experiment,
