  • First comes Epona, then comes any other form of transportation.

  • People hate the train because link is supposed to have a horse/boat... So why's no one mad at the change in skyward sword to a bird? You people are stupid. It doesn't matter what link uses to get around.

  • 9135 rupees lol thats the most ive ever seen! haha

  • unfortunatly my freind spoiled this game for me by showing me the ending about 3 years ago, maybe 2.5. but, nontheless, i got the game yesterday

  • @jacketsj You should hunt him down, and kick his ass!

  • Really great review..thanks!

  • I really hate the trains, boats, and all the other transportation shit in Zelda games. So annoying.

  • Wait a second... In the video, when Link fights that fire-and-ice boss, Fraaz, he already has the Lokomo Sword! Doesn't he get it later in the game??

  • @WildShadowWarriorCat In castle town there is a place where you can go and fight smaller enemies and bosses again.

  • @XcandyXchanX Ohhhh yeah! I remeber now, thanks! :D

  • "Look out, GameSpot!"

    Lul

  • did you ever give this game a score out of 10?

  • @curiousepegasus

He gave Spirit Tracks an 8.5/10.

  • @Lights3287

    Good! :-)

  • Youtube is fucking garbage it buffers every 10 seconds I can't believe this site is so popular i guess its for retards FUCK YOUTUBE FUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK FUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBEFUCK YOUTUBE

  • @trollbie ok and?

  • @trollbie Fuck your shitty internet speed

  • @trollbie That is because you computer is a worthless piece of shit. Have a nice day.

  • I thought this was a big improvement from Phantom Hourglass. Phantom had you replaying the same dungeons over & over, traveling between islands on the boat is incredibly boring & repetitive, and there's nothing to do apart from the main quest.

Spirit Tracks, on the other hand, has plenty of side quests, the main temple's dungeons are far more varied (and you do NOT have to play the same dungeons over & over), and traveling via the train, though kiddy, is actually somewhat challenging & fun.

  • Look out GameSpot!!!!

  • i hate how they decreased the lenth of the boomarang in this game. its so short compared to PH

  • link rides a horse! not a train!

im sorry, i just can't past the train part even though this game may be a very good game

i miss the old times on a boat and horse...

  • @JVmaster101 Link has only rode a horse in two games.

  • @10samm10 actually 3

    oot

    mm

    tp

and i know its still not a lot, but a train seems a little unnatural to me

sorry everyone, just my opinion :-/

  • @JVmaster101 The way I see it, three games is too much. There must be some variety, if every Zelda game had a horse, it will feel like you are playing the same game over and over again.

  • @10samm10 no link has rode a horse in 4 games, not 2

  • @nerad1994 Only proving my previous point.

  • This game looks Radical:)

    Good review.

  • So glad I ordered this... I own PH and I'm totally disappointed because the Temple of the Ocean King just causes anxiety... the dumb stealth and time limit and repetition were horrible features. I'm exited to get this in the mail :)

  • this game was great except for the flute those were really hard

  • Did anyone else hear Domination Rod? Whut!? C'mon, GS.

  • And i was wondering y zelda was saying gamespot.

  • why is Link called HotSpot...?

  • I just got this game 3 days ago and I'm at the second temple. This game is a lot of fun and I've hardly found anything I don't like. The only problem I've found was that instead of playing a song, I wish they would've let you collect faries and those faries would bring you back to life. It just gets annoying to play a song just to heal you. Also, I wish there were pieces of the heart so that you could get more hearts easier than buying them or defeating bosses.

  • @Jblox100 Why? I'm thinking about buying it :$

  • why do they get people with speech impediments to do reviews

  • @kurt2552 You're an idiot

  • @trollbie at least i dont sound like this guy

  • @Jblox100 Ever played Zelda II?

  • thanks for the review

  • i hate the train! its so slooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • I think the dungeons and the items were superb. I just didn't like the train at all...

  • can u just use the buttons not the touch screen

  • @bluehawk2121 nope

  • This game is good, it's Zelda after all, but I wouldn't say it was better than Phantom Hourglass. Also Zelda screams 'NO' in Japanese as far as the dialog goes. Yes, I AM a pedantic ass.

  • is it just me or the psp is dying slowly and very painfully. the only god game coming up is dissidia duodecim.

  • @DjVader112 While i'm not a PSP fan at all, this is just plain wrong, it has some amazing games like Valkyria Chronicles, Tactics Ogre and Parasite Eve 3 to name a few.

  • @MadSnake123 well I guess your right. parasite eve is a kickass game:)

  • FUCK OFF NAVI!

  • I'm sorry but using the touch screen for movement and actions is NOT INTUITIVE. It's annoying! I think they should've gone to the D-Pad movement for this title, or at least give an option! It makes complete sense for drawing boomerang paths and whatnot, but for running around and attacking enemies it sucks complete ass.

  • I hated the train the boat is far suparior. The train removes all the exploration from zelda. It was an awful decision and it ruins the game despite the well crafted dungens!

  • i like phantom hourglass better

  • ARGH im stuck on the last dugeon on this game sooo frustrating

  • Help GameSpot! *Falco Hit!*

  • at the beguining i thought zelda said: "look out grandpa"

  • 4:23 Link hits giant bug in the butt!

    Link :"You stupid bitch!"

  • 6:37 hapend to me O_o I got chased by a phantom and then another phantom hits me down XD

  • @johnkevindarkzelda ops!! I mean 6:49

  • Lol, I'd have just let Gamespot get mauled.. SILLY ZELDA!

  • heeeeeeyyyyy, youre the guy who said that new super mario bros wii is the hardest super mario bros game in the series!! play super mario bros 3

  • yo ya termine este juego y esta bien chingon la verdad me encanto

  • I think this game was better than PH. The only thing I didn't like about this game was that it wasn't a new legend, story, or whatever you call it. But I'd give this game like an 8 out of ten (:

  • owned at 7:55

  • Lol wtf you get killed in a cutscene RIGGED!

  • i'm gonna buy this as soon as i finish phanthom hourglass.

cant believe i haven't finished it yet, its freaking zelda man :( xD

  • @raket94 i finished it 2 years ago its very easy

  • @erizo908:

:D That's pretty similar to me. I'm 15, but playing old games is a big part of my gaming hobby. In fact probably half of my favorite games are over 10-12 years old.

I don't own an *actual* SNES, though. Yet. I've played lots of those games. Just through different places.

  • I bought this game and a DSlite for my dear poor friend who lives on the other end of the world. She really loves it and it helps her forget her worries when she plays ^_^ I could not have asked for more. This is a marvelous game.

  • @Quezillacolt45 you have a good soul dude, god bless you:)

  • I think Phantom Hourglass was much better than this one.

I thought the pacing and 'repetitiveness' of PH were superb.

I just didn't get as into this one.

  • Help me, GameSpot!

    (Byrne punch him)

    GAME OVER!

  • I hardly played this zelda, probably cause of my bad experience with PH, and as soon as the idea of repeat dungeons just made me go "AHHHH not this again!!" - seriously probably the one thing I hated about PH, not just that though... the overall shorter normal dungeons ...and the touch controls were again a turn off for me...

  • This seems to be an interesting and fun game. I'm thinking of buying it after I get a DS Lite. Is this a good game to start with or should I look at Phantom Hourglass instead?

  • @nightfeather123 I think you should get PH first, but if you want to get ST first, it's no biggy..

  • ive never played a zelda game in my life an i was just wonderind...im thinking to buying this but im still not shure is this a good title to start at or is there another in the series thats better (like the ones fore wii or anything) some 1 pleez tell me

  • Help me GameSpot!

    *runs to the rescue*

    *Falcon PAWNCH!*

    *death music*

  • I really didn't like the two Zelda games on the DS for one reason. THE CONTROLS! I REALLY hated the controls. It kinda ruins the games for me.

  • PSP sucks!

  • @nortalus haha your cute, the NGP is better in every aspect

  • @TheDarkHavok ur replying to a comment that is 10 month old!!!!!!! not only its sad... it was when ngp news was not out yet . also y u compare next gen with current gen...its like i say ps scusk and u say ps2 is better ???? at last, u havent really got ur hand on one how can you seriously say EVERY ASPECT is better

  • @dandansfu Well I was at the announcement and I got a pretty decent look at the tech, imo it looks entirely better. Sorry about the really late reply, I didn't see when you posted the comment.

  • zelda:gamestop!

gamestop :anything i can help you with

zelda: Im in Need in a video game :O!

    gamestop: what kinda game?

zelda: a game where link is in

gamestop: heres aa nes with the orignal zeldas snes n64 & nintendo gamecubde,Ds,wii!

  • I love this game!

Help me, GameSpot! I'm in need of video game reviews XD

  • man, i thought the DS had better graphics than that.....

  • I guess he wanted to test us (damn him!) Hyrule is a strange place, the rules of logic just go out the window! :P

  • ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!! GAMESPOT is enriching Uranium !! RUN FOR COVER!!! (maniac scream of fear)

  • @erizo908

Must be strange playing games that were made way before your time! oO

I think the old style games are the best, for me gameplay is essential so thats what I judge games on, Zelda has it all, I just love the feeling of you being the only hero and fighting against the odds.

Im a little lame but im thinking bout getting some sort of Triforce tattoo, I need a second opinion, what do you think, cool??

  • @tokyojamez

just dont make it too big

  • the only boss were you use link and zelda is the end not for each boss like the reviver said

  • this was a great game. the only disappointment I had was I was hoping that this would be a new legend/tale,not connected to wind waker or phantom hourglass. I was also hoping to fight Ganon. oh well, beggars can't be choosers. I was so excited when I got this

  • @TheSlickAndroid yeah i agree but they keep the ganon fights for the platforms

  • @applecri5p

true, the only time I've seen Ganon on handheld was as an unlockable final boss in the Oracle games, someone disguised with his silhouette in Link's Awakening.but the demon king seems kinda like a poor mans Ganon, they're too similar,he looks like exactly like Beast Ganon. but I'm not gonna keep on nitpicking.

something I like is that the feel of the game and the final boss kinda reminds me of Majora's Mask.

  • @TheSlickAndroid Yeah im playing it currently, i agree some of the music has a majoras feel, and for Ganon guess we will have to wait for the next platform zelda. the hand held zelda games seem to be designed to keep us busy till the next big zelda for the wii

  • @applecri5p

I haven't finished, but I'm worried because I've heard from a lot of people they've finished it as soon as they got it,I don't know though.

also, I agree, most of the handheld Zelda games feel like filler episodes to play, while you wait for the next big console Zelda game.

  • @TheSlickAndroid Ganon is dead in the adult timeline.

  • @KoronofHearts I thought Ganon was dead in the Wind Waker timeline(which this game takes place in).

  • @TheSlickAndroid My point exactly. WW is thestart of the Adult timeline, and Majora's Mask is the start of the child timeline.

...and yeah, Ganon's been dead for a little over 100 years by the time of Spirit Tracks.

  • @KoronofHearts oh. I thought Ocarina of Time/Twilight Princess was the adult timeline.

  • @TheSlickAndroid Ocarina of Time was both; it was the split. TP takes place during the child Timeline supposedly sometime after Majora's Mask.

  • @KoronofHearts

How the hell are Link and Zelda still alive and why do they still look like kids?

  • @BeautyBoyTV All the characters are the descendants of the ones in PH and WW except for Niko. Niko is just really really old.

  • @BeautyBoyTV dude... it LOZ logic. besides each game (except for the ones with sequels) have diffrent Links in them

  • @TheSlickAndroid its not like ur a beggar ... i guess u paid the full price it had on release too?

  • @Hobbykicker50 (sigh) Yep. It was pricey.

  • @TheSlickAndroid I got this at shop for 17$ x3

  • @nintendoplayersmash same here. games are way too expensive if you ask me.

  • @TheSlickAndroid Ganon can't come back fool he's dead in both timelines with no way to resurect him again, I WANT NO ARGUMENTS FROM ANYBODY ABOUT THIS IM THE BEST AT ZELDA NOBODY IS BETTER I HAVE NEVER DIED IN ANY ZELDA AND NEVER WILL I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT ZELDA EVEN THE OFFICIAL TIMELINE NOBODY CAN GO AGAINST ME IF LINK WAS IN FRONT OF A JUDGE I WOULD BE HIS MUTHAPHUKING LAWYER IM THE GOD OF ZELDA NOT U ME ME ME!!!!!!

  • @trollbie You should be careful. Link kills trolls too.

  • can you use that sort of boomerang of phantom hourglass in spirit tracks?

  • I don't even know how the fuck Phantom Hourglass has higher scores on Metacritic and Gamerankings. Spirit Tracks beats the shit outta that game in every category besides humor.

  • I hate The tower of Spirits, so many damn stairs, would it have really killed the to put a lift in that place!!

  • God damnit, I don't get it.

First people complain about having to go through the same damn areas again in Phantom Hourglass.

Now people are complaining about how long it takes to go up fucking stairs? God damnit.

    lulz, Jk.

  • Ha!, well what can i say, us old timers have been adventuring since Ocarina of time, it leaves our knees weak, i might ask Nintendo to install a stair lift in the next installment, that would be awesome!! :D

  • xD Wouldn't that be absolutely amazing?

My knees are perfectly fine, I've been adventuring since 2005. Yah, I'm quite young =O

But don't think that I hold myself back. I've played every Zelda at least once (not passed though =O).

    The CD-i ones don't count.

  • Legend of Zelda, Stannah lift to the past! ha ha~

Good on you kid, you gotta try the CD-i ones though, thats fun times (crazy animation!) :D

  • But they look so...corny. The animation made me kinda sick xD

  • Have you checked out "The angry videogame nerd's" review of the CD-i games, that guy makes me laugh!! :D

  • I haven't seen that episode thing, but I absolutely love his videos xD

  • @tokyojamez n64, old?

im 14 but ive only played "a link to the past"

in my old snes, im so glad to have the original cart still working

it feels so weird to play games that are older than me.

i mean, mario kart, mario world, dk country...good ole days

its good to see that nintendo keeps its good sequels

  • @erizo908 totally agree, I love the NES and the original Legend of Zelda and if you have an NES you should look for it!

  • @MajorasWrath97

exactly, when I first when up the stairs I thought,"Oh thank God! its not like the temple of the Ocean King"!

  • @tokyojamez

at least its not nearly as bad as the damned temple of the Ocean king! I think I lost a large amount of my sanity because of it! It would NEVER end. I'd have to keep going back and it got MORE and MORE frustrating. I don't get it. if that old guy (Oshus) is the freaking Ocean king, then why the hell didn't he just make it where you could just get the map and go!? hes the OCEAN KING! why couldn't he help you skip through all that crap!?

  • DAMN DID I SEE THE MASTER SWORD!?

  • @Th33mporor

no offense you technically did but in this game it is called the lokomo sword

  • @chuggaaconroywatch okay

than i was just wondering i'm in the fire temple right now and don't know

  • 3:19

    Two things:

One, how the heck did they get that many Heart Containers?

Two, how the heck can you suck that much against that boss?

  • 1. There's always a lot of Heart Containers/Pieces of Heart available through side quests and such. I believe for console games it's 20 max., and for handheld games (at least PH and ST) it's 16 max.

    2. It's definitely possible.

  • That is the second boss. You can have a maximum health of 7. There are no Pieces of Heart in this game, either.

  • Sure, you can have a maximum health of 7 normally, and there aren't any Pieces of Heart - but I'm pretty sure there are full Heart Containers like in Phantom Hourglass, and you can get some of them pretty early.

  • I meant the maximum health at that point was 7. That's all of the Heart Containers possible: 3 from the beginning of the game, one from the first boss, one for 'Take 'em All On,' one from Rabbitland Rescue, and the last from an Anouki shop in the Snow Sanctuary.

  • Maybe he beat the game and got to go through it again with all health? I dunno

  • the player is playing the "take em all on" trial where you fight all the bosses again back-to-back

  • There's an area in castle town where you can refight bosses

  • This dosent have much to do with this game (well nothing really) but dose anybody know when link dose talk? Yes he dose.(and i dont mean in zelda 2) In Wind Waker when you call Medi Maker or a statue he says "Come on". Just a fun fact.

  • Of course he talks - technically, he's talked in just about every 3D one since OoT by grunting and saying random things when he uses his sword.

  • Does.

  • My favorite series of ALL TIME is Zelda. Always has been, always will be.

  • wow its dominion rod not domination rod

just when i thought gamespot was never wrong

  • lol gamespot, fail the hookshot has been around before! 4:10

  • yeah, its been around for atleast the last 19 years. :)

  • not in the handheld games

  • "LOOK OUT, GAMESPOT!"

But still, does anyone find that Spirit Tracks seems a lot like Wind Waker?

I mean, your train is the King of Red Lions, your Spirit Flute is the Wind Waker, you're still the same oval-eyed short blond kid in a green suit who everyone knows and loves.

    ....Right?

  • Well, yeah, I think ST was kind of supposed to be a spiritual sequel to WW (I know it's a sequel story-wise, since it takes place 100 years later, but I meant gameplay/design-wise).

  • @Battleoner well this is the sequel to phantom hour glass witch was a sequel to wind waker.

  • The ending was hilarious!

    Zelda-"Help me, Link!"

    Link-"!! Get away from her!"

    Byrne-"....(Smack)"

I really enjoyed this review! XD

  • That was a realllly good review ..

  • Comment removed

  • zelda>navi

  • "I giggle with glee."

    Lmao.

  • link looked cute when he got smacked by the big dude @ the end of the video

  • great review...

    7:55 SMACK

  • cool

  • Nice review, and its and awesome game!

  • dsi mic is beside the front carmra

  • All I had to hear was "superior." I'm getting this.

  • lol, Gamespot!!!!!!

  • Look out, GameSpot!!

  • @AlquimistEd did you know Gamespot is bad for your hair? do you know anybody who didnt pull out his/her hair while watching their reviews or GOD FORBID ... READING THEM

  • @AlquimistEd Funniest name ever for this game.

  • Comparing Spirit Tracks to OoT is like comparing Oranges to Apples. They're both sweet, but saying which one is better always has a counterargument.

  • the dsi dosent have a mircophone so what do they

  • No, I'm pretty sure it does.

  • @zik2670 yes it does next to the camera

  • it does have a mic I think you will find.

  • indianna jones !!!!!!!!!!!

  • wierd, but very informative

  • im buying this today

  • In no way is this game better than Phantom Hourglass. The flute duets make an extreme annoyance later in the game, and most of the challenge in boss battles comes from fighting the camera instead of the boss itself.

  • But Phantom Hourglass was more of a once-over game - it was fun the first time through, but after that and the very few sidequests, it got boring. This one looks like it has some good replay value.

  • i want to play this game soo badly! gonna buy it on monday though, but i can't wait! xD

  • i like ocarina of time its one of my favorite

  • You use too many long words for me to understand what you're saying. : (

  • bitch slap!!! 7:52

  • Help me, GameSpot!

  • I love you.

  • thank you.
