I've been logging since I was in high school during the summers. Then when I got out I started full time. Before that I was messing around on equipment when I was about 6. So I have just a little experience in this. I laugh whenever I watch this show and shows like axmen. They pick the most retarded crews to be on these shows. Our crew would put all these guys to shame.

Loggers are great people. Folks trying to make a living. it's the greedy guys in suits a thousand miles away that make the real money, and the bad choices that effect us all.

My only complaint is that this is not the whole story. Discovery and History Channels should tell the whole story.

Logging is hard & dangerous work, I did some pulp wood work here in the Hawaiian Islands in the mid/late 70's. started out as as Cat skinner...put in all the logging roads...me & Butch, then I went over to Capitol Wood Chip & drove a lodding truck...all hard work. My 1st day on the job we lost a driver, logs came right through the cab. We were pulling on an average of 40 tons net weight every load.

Wish Discovery could have filmed us up in the Largest Game Preserve in Northern Ontario.

Kenworth Engineers came for a ride one time... They were impressed with the sensor data they could have recorded on our trip. They were not ready to make a Kenworth that tough!

its funny to watch the tree huggers go on and bitch.. they think we go in the woods and cut anything...there is alot more to it... alot of times we cut old growth  so new growth can grow..u dont understand..and another thing if it wouldnt be for us we wouldnt have lumber to build our houses, make paper, fuel, etc..a tree is not wasted..i work in the telos area next to the pelletiers and telos is a huge area. the wildlife there is amazing, they are not bothered by us at all..so thats my story...
