Actually that is not true, Julie Newmar was picked as the first and best Catwoman, but was unavailable for this episode as she was doing a Star Trek episode at the time.

It was only then that Eartha Kitt was asked to step into the role, BTW, I am not bashing anyone's pipe dream, just stating the facts as they are written in the Producer William Doziers book, he wrote on the series in the 1970's!
