  • Nice video. I've been practicing yoga and meditation for about a year now. I really don't know how I survived before that :) Go meditating!

  • I used to be really introverted but meditation helped me to resolve a lot of stuff and be more present in the real world. Still a work in progress of course!

  • im all for gay pride, but the orange has to go i detest orange haha stop putting your hair up like that you look AMAZING with it down

  • meditation is amazing, i do it while i stretch my muscles and after its really helpful

  • Well isn't that just a super quick nap?

  • love ur vids, i have a question for you, how do you think about gay asian? because i am, but i interesting in gay Western.

  • I dont do it as much as id like over the last few years problems have been smothering me and overwhelming me but i still think meditations great and under rated by most people i do (or did and will get back to) a mix of earth and air grounding and centering and my personal part is i created what i call a tree of life and when i started it was just a small tree and its evolved over the years and its a massive grand tree and a whole world has grew around it to very elaberate... my sanctuary xx

  • I still do my hair the way he showed me. well when its grown out ; )

  • hey John. i watched your video about long-distance relationship, and wanted to ask you a question. How often do you guys see each other and each you do see each other, how long do you stay together. THanks!

  • we need to trow this gay motherfucker off a mountain or a building stupit gay faggot

  • Hi John. Concerning the body and soul dualism I recommend reading "Descartes' Error" by António Damásio.

  • JOHN! what's your tattoo say? (the one on the inside of your right bicep)

    :)

  • I teach my patients with sleep disorders, namely adrenalin - serotonin pickup at bedtime, to do what I call the road of thoughts. When you have insomnia, you can't quiet down because of the rain of thoughts that inundate the mind. After a few moments, review the thoughts by name, not by content, and observe how they are crowding out sleep. Next, put pressure on the eye, gently with two fingers. After quieting eye movement, check the mandibular action and stop "talking" , etc.

  • Hi John, great video, I like to sit in our garden and it totally relaxes me and clears my mind. So good for the soul.

  • hey john that was a good video! by the way have you heard about abraham hicks?

  • Interesting video, but I'm gonna go off topic with the comment: I just wanted to say that I came out to my parents last week (after a loooooong time) and that I have also you to thank for that, I especially appreciated the vids you made with your mom so if you see this comment please thank her from me too :)

  • Definitely very calming. :-]

  • I've been a Quaker for several years now and we engage in silent prayer once a week for an hour. I feel it has dramatically enhanced my day-to-day life and I really feel it when I miss a Meeting.

  • Guess what, I just did meditate before coming here and watching your video. God, this is so amazing! I didn't know that you would also do meditate before, I did see some signs about this in your early video " I am a spiritual being having a human experience ", and I enjoyed it very much.

Thank you so much for making all these videos! Excellent work! You're like a guide of my soul! Love you!!!!!

  • Thanks Couver. I meditated just how you say a few months back and found it great. I did not sit down and think "i'm going to meditate" it just kind of happened naturally. I had forgot about it though (until this video) and wasn't sure what it was but yeah I guess I just sporadically meditated. I'm going to try and fit it into my life, I loved it, can't believe I forgot about it. Thanks.

  • I have been meditating for about five months and it has helped me become more calm and also it makes me less negative. I love your view on mind body and soul. I have always respected the mind and valued it however only in the late year have I considered spirituality and body. I started running a week ago as I think to be fully balanced we need to consider both our internal and external needs . Love your videos Hun , they inspire so many me included . Forever enjoy the now , robert xxx

  • Have you ever tried chanting Oms, or any other mantra? I do P90X yoga and at the end they do Oms and its sooooo cool. But, if you're interested in mantras, my favorite is the medicine buddha mantra. You should check it out.

  • I've been thinking about meditating for some time now and if your video isn't a sign then I don't know what is. Thank you!

  • Art to me is my meditation, I sketch, paint and draw anything that comes to my mind, I let all the anger, sadness, stress, happiness...well basically I just let my mind become focus, free of any thoughts and emotions, which helps me heal at a spiritual level. I know it isn't traditional meditation but this is what works for me, I will definitely try traditional meditation more now. Thank you. :)

  • I was all into your video...to which I strangely agree with... until I saw your Warrior Dash medal on the wall!

  • @shad3300 Is that a bad thing? lol

  • @Couver87 No. Not as all! I participated in the Warrior Dash in my state a few weeks ago...I just got excited that you participated as well. I 'm a total dork, I know. Nonetheless, love the video. Im actually going to try it....and I agree, your videos are so much better than others here on Youtube :)

  • Thank you so much for making this video John! i was curious if you meditated because you have such a clear and conscious mind. Just put up a video response, hope you can check it out =)!!!

  • informative/thought-provoking video. I tend to think of yoga as moving meditation and balance it and running with martial arts. I'll have to actually try meditation after yoga as opposed to just shavasana.

    peace

  • Hi, I love your videos. It's so great to see gay bloggers doing amazing things for the community with the image you and other transmit. My comment is to recommend to your viewers that self meditating is great because you really feel more comfortable with yourself. My advice is: perform meditating befor you sleep, it'll make you feel way more better by the morning. Also, your advices are excellent, practically what you say os what's needed to meditate :D. Greetings

  • @qwido25 Thanks. I am glad you enjoyed the video.

  • I find it impossible to think about nothing. Rather, my meditation I retreat into an alternative reality. something to calm myself and relieve stress. Nothing is kinda... annoying to me, so instead I think about serenity.

  • I have tried to meditate but I am soo lazy to do it lol

  • I did check out the website but its kinda me feel like i was going to watch a gay porn lol

  • Thanks John I have been wanting to try something like this for a while now. I have a lot of things going on in my life and this would really help to calm everything down a bit. 1 question that I have is that, would it be ok to listen to soothing music or is it better to just sit in silence?

  • Maybe the breathing thing will help me sleep. It takes me hours to fall asleep at night because my mind is always thinking about something.

  • did you know they did a study and it showed that the same change in serotonergic receptors that is experienced under DEEP meditation is the same change in the brain with those under the influence of psychedelics.

Psychedelics are amazing. Like they've approved testing with DMT and I think psilocybin for therapeutic purposes. Psychedelics WILL give you a spiritual experience. They literally will change your life

  • I practice biofeedback. Does that count?

  • My question, John, is how long do you spend in meditation at each 'sitting'? I can imagine that even that is very personal to each meditator, but what works best for you? Thanks John!

  • @justanote7 It totally depends sometimes honestly only 5 minutes other times 45 minutes. The longest I think was about an hour.

  • Bryan Meditates but I cant ;O(

  • If you are going to read a book meditation-related I would recommend The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Just discovered your channel when I saw this video on recommended videos. And the comment about Davey Wavey made me think that just may have been a nudge from the universe...I've been thinking similar things lately. I find that I go to his channel more for entertainment than the inspirational stuff he used to do...that's what happens to everything when it becomes too commercialized.

  • Thnx very helpful

  • thank you Buddha. this might be helpful !!

  • Thank u budda

  • One type of meditation that I find really easy is a guided meditation. They usually help you try to accomplish something. It is so much fun and makes you feel great afterward... also Buddhist mantras or hindu mantras are great too

  • i might do this

  • Interesting comment below.

I have never, in my mind, compared Couver87 to Davey Wavey.

    I do follow both.

Thinking it over now I realize I like both of you because of the positive nature of your videos.

One wears a shirt, one doesn't.

    Big deal.

Keep affirming human love, human sexuality, human interdependence.

And I will add that Couver87 sent me a handmade gay pride beaded wrist band that I love wearing.

    Thank you for inspiring.

  • lol random sound at 6:24 XD

  • Why does the background look like there are a million tiny ants crawling on it??

    :3

  • for, I go with the flow. Put it all into the flame & when my mind is blank I just breathe & be. After a while (5 mins to 3 hours for me) I revisit the thoughts & feelings that I discarded earlier. It seems the Universe brings to me the things that I need, questions, answers, decisions, need not want. I listen, I learn, I observe the circular cyclical nature of my life in linear time in the random pattern. I pay close attention to the people that come in & out. All this is easier with a calm mind

  • I like to meditate on an ocean beach or near a waterfall. Water produces white noise which can block out a lot of sounds, white noise is thought to be the sound the big bang made by some, waves are good because they are rhythmic which is nice for breathing. Next I do breathing exercises I learned in voice class. Once I've got nice deep regular breathing I visualize a candle flame & thoughts & feelings are added to the fuel until the flame is all. Now answers I was looking for, wasn't looking...

  • can you do a workout or diet video? I love the swimmer body type but have this stubborn belly ring that just won't go away.

  • i downvoted the video because of your comment of davey, not my smartest move but yeah... I don't watch davey for being shirtless or talking about sex...

  • I don't meditate, because it's hard to me to focus, 'cause I have tinnitus in both ears (a pathological unpleasant noise that keeps sounding 24h a day and that can be heard much louder in silence. I promise I'll try someday, but right now, I have no time and no safe places for me. Even my room has people going in and out all the time, because to reach my parents' room you've got to go through mine first, so...when I live alone again, I'll take your words and try! ^^

  • more meditation!

  • mate i just came back from the club and i thought i saw you!!! lol but wasnt :P but that guy was nice too :P

  • ok so i rely want one of the pride bolsters but omg im not paying 250 for one

  • How long the time do you recommend for meditating? How many minutes? Thanks.

  • You are so cute! :) You know, I might've tried meditating a few times. It's been a while, but I did check out some Buddha books before. I usually just pick up my electric or acoustic guitar and start playing. It's nice to get into that groove, and I am sure it might not exactly be the same as meditation, but I feel good afterwords. I'll try the meditation thing again :)

  • I actually told myself I was going to start meditating again tomorrow before watching this! It was meant to be...

  • Hey John, Patience isn't exactly my problem it's more the fear of being vulnerable. Think about it... vacating all thought makes you zone out the present, and for a guy who was victimized as a kid when vulnerable, leaving yourself that open is terrifying!!!! That's why i NEVER believe the "lean back and we'll catch you" crowd. Could ya do me a favor though boost my confidense by checking out my vids and comment. Newby here lookin' for support. thanks

  • So John. I know you have long distance relationship experience... My bf is in Brazil for the next month (I live in Canada), and we have only been together for that long! I can NOT stop thinking about him and I really need to focus on other things, as I'm going away to university very soon. Do you think meditation will help me? I feel like I'll just end up thinking about him the whole time :P

  • Part 2:

Your current LDR Boyfriend seems to know this as well, and you guys should stay together and get together ASAP.

    Namaste!

  • Part 2:

Your current LDR Boyfriend seems to know this as well, and you guys should stay together and get together ASAP.

    Namaste!

  • By 'soul', you mean that conscious awareness, or witness that is actually experiencing the world around you. By first becoming aware of that basic awareness, then re-identifying with it, rather than with your thinking mind, you can easily learn about who you are, where your mind and it's thoughts fit into the picture, and then you can control and understand your mind and its thoughts, and take ownership of your life. That is the power of meditation. Your current LDR Boyfriend seems to know this

  • yahhh!! love this vid! id definitiely love to see more meditating vids! also some diet vids! O: thats my dreammmmmmmm!!! la l ala laallala lal a!

  • I have a picture frame with the words Temet Nosce on my wall that when I awake in the morning it's the first thing a see. It means Know Theyself in latin. I saw it in the movie the Matrix and thought that was a great converstion piece and also to Know myself.

  • Dear Couver, me and my boyfriend who are in a long-distance relationship argue about little things. Please help! We love each other do death.

  • @mikeeownz Best advice ever give to me ....... learn to agree to disagree and let each other feels the way they want to be but can't project on to the other.

  • @theplaybouy We usually don't. But we argue about stupid stuff. He got mad because I said "I can feed myself" -.-

  • Thank you this video was really helpful since I have just started meditating and trying to take controlof myself.

  • thank you ill try it 2mrw morning b4 wrk soo thank u

  • i'd meditate with you.

  • Also, you should definitely do more videos about meditating and things that involve with your mind, body, and soul. I really love this video, i actually felt more calm watching it. Thanks =)

  • I'm still consider a novice at meditation, but I've been doing it for about 8 months. I'm such a strong believer in meditation because without it, I would go mad with everything going on around me. I find it useful to close my eyes in a cool place and focus only on my posture and breathing. I'd just watch my thoughts go by like a film strip, not focusing too much on any one thought. I recommend Shambala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior by Chogyam Trungpa to learn more on meditation.

  • cool just watching this video I feel really calm... like a cat in the window :)

  • @RikkyRocksandRolls Good. I am glad to hear it. I hope it gets easier for you to do in the future :)

  • I used to use a breathing exercise with my Judo club when I was at Central Michigan University. The first time I did this exercise, I figured we would do it for just five minutes. When what I thought was five minutes had passed, I turned and looked at the clock and twenty minutes had actually gone by. From then on, I started using an alarm.

Yes, I would love to explore this topic in greater detail with you. You seem so centered and peaceful. You'd make a great mentor.

  • I've actually started to meditate, so I'm happy to know that you do it too. I'd love more videos from you regarding meditation since it would be nice to get even more of an insight from someone who's been doing it for the past 4 years.

  • Nice video and you know, i rather watch your videos then Davey Wavey because he has gone downhill with the sluttyness but yeah Meditation is actually a great way to calm the mind, body, and soul. =)

  • @JoelAwesomenessShow I sometimes wonder if he would be able to get half as many views with his shirt on and discussing a topic other then sex.

  • @Couver87 Omg! I definitely agree. me and my friend said that before. He gains his fans by using his body not words and yes the only things he discuss about is Gay 24/7 at least you actually have other topics that involve anything in general and i that's what i like about your videos.

  • @Couver87 It's cute the way that you think that your philosophy comes anywhere near davey's. : ) In case you were wondering, you were much more than over exaggerating in terms of how many other video subjects he has touched on. Here are a couple titles for you. It Gets Better: Remembering Ryan. No Straight Pride: Why Is There Gay Pride? Message for Straight People - I Don't Want to Date Your Gay Friend,18 Reasons to Smile! Keep trying. Try 2 minutes of research next time.

  • @Couver87 John you are the ONLY worthwhile gay Youtuber! Davey Wavey is highly annoying IMO. He falls in the same category as Chris Crocker and Matthew Lush. JOHN YOU ARE THE BEST!

  • As a spiritual person I completely agree with you John. The mind is the sole link between the body and the soul. Through the mind we can tap into the true potential of our bodies as well as the true power of our soul and meditation is the process for doing this. Thanks again for another wonderful video John :)

  • @Couver87 I didnt needed to read the Joel comment to know you were talking about Davey hahaha.

  • @Couver87 I have an other way of meditating. Its kind of different and doesnt need an altar. All I do is to ask to the universe (yea I know it sound crazy) I ask to the universe a question like. How can I be a better human or How can I be more beautiful inside. And during the day an answer will pop out of my mind for no reason. I swear everytime I ask a question to the universe I get an answer. Im just sharing with you my method and I hope you will try it.

  • @liotie I do this too. You dont sound crazy at all.

  • @Couver87 Nice its just that there is not a lot of poeple who are informed about these things and it may sound crazy for those who dont know anything about it.

  • I meditate right before I go to sleep. I do it to clear my mind and I've found that I don't have near as many nightmares as I used to. There are still some experiences in my past that occasionally haunt my dreams. Stay sweet <3

  • Meditation has made me feel the best I have ever felt.

  • @MisterTellius Me too. :)

  • :] I've been meditating, and I never knew.

You may be interested in lucid dreaming.

  • I work 80 hours a week trading millions of pounds, i would love to have time to meditate but i really dont :( plus im so stressed i could never sit down for more than 5 minutes without getting an urgent phone call or checking corporate news :(

Im quite inspired by watching this though, i might just pick a time and try it...

  • Thanks...

  • I've been learning meditation and mindfulness techniques and it really is helpful. I've finally been able to come off of my anti-anxiety medication thanks to it.

  • I use to be able to think about "nothing". But now it has proven itself to be impossible |:.

  • Nice Idea , i will try do that : )) Take care John, be happy

  • I love you, lol

  • lolz I wish I got that totem bed thingy :D

  • Hi :)

  • I myself meditate as well, I personally sit with either music or not ...depends on how focused i am at the time...and concentrate on my soul...once i get connected to it everything falls into place (breathing muscles relaxing everything)
