-so you know when you put taped foil paper and started building ontop of that for the alien do you do that for all your sculptures? can you still bake the sculpey with the taped foil inside of it b/c i thought that the tape would melt
@IHeArTrOcK20 Yes it does just fine.. The tape I use is called masking tape and its made of paper, so it wont melt. And the instructions only call for 275 degrees temp, which is not hot enough to burn the tape. so long as its completely covered in clay.. I also use wood with no problem (fully exposed) But like I ALWAYS say, keep a eye on the sculpture during the WHOLE cooking process.. this way if you notice anything odd like browning or smoke you can kill the heat and remove the sculpture. =D
I noticed the horns are hard. if you put an already finished piece of clay onto an unfinished can you heat it up again? may be a dumb question but i'm looking to get into sclupting and I don't know certain things
@Someoneodd11 Actually, what you see me doing here is putting a 2-part epoxy [the horns] into the sculpture. But for what you are asking, yes, you can use pre-cooked pieces in a uncooked project and bake as usual. If you are working with Sculpey III [a colored clay] their is a chance for discoloration from re-baking though. If your just gonna paint it though don't worrie about that.
@Someoneodd11 I have a video demonstrating how I work with that epoxy if your interested, I show all the basics on how to get started, its awesome stuff.. You can tool it, drill, carve, sand... hope that helps, thanks for checking this out!
You are so talented...never stop pursuing your art and your dream. Maybe you should send your videos to a local tv station to see if you could get a show...good luck and Keep Going!!
@TheBroodingTom Haha, I made that comment 4 weeks ago. I might not have seen the finished version when I made that comment, but I've seen the dragon since you've finished it and it looks great. :)
@ThePennyProductions lol.. ya, sorry for the late reply... I don't get all my messages for some reason =? For example, I did a contest video where any comment was a entery.. well, over a 1000 comments, and I maybe got 50 of them in my inbox!! It kinda sucks.. So I just "check in" on my older videos to see whats going on.. lol.. hay, thanks!!
@TheBroodingTom Ahh, I see. I think that its pretty awesome that you do that and try to still reply back to people despite having over 80 videos...pretty cool. But I get what you mean, so I understand. And haha, one day hopefully I'll get over 1000 comments on my videos. :D
@ViewtifuIWaitress .."a lot of patients.. sounds hard" But working on it a hour every now and then, before you know it your DONE!! In other words, no rush necessary.. BTW, My Emails are completely FIXED!! as of a few days ago... I went ALL THIS TIME without one Email!?!?! Its crazy cool ,because I can see the subscribers and comments [that's all I have checked for notifications] straight from my Hotmail!! Woohoo!! ABOUT TIME!
epicness omfg woo im makeing a dragon head in art class its never going to be as good as yours though but im only 14 in the 8th grade so yeah..... best dragon on youtube bro good awsome
@jeffdunhamfan001 Thank you so much for the complement!! I have a 6 part tutorial that says you may have a chance to do this!! CHECK IT OUT!! Scale it down to half size.. I'm so glad you like this!! Its not the best though.. a LOT of talent here on You Tube... maybe in the near future though....
@PLASTICPOPCORN4 Thank you, and I'm glad you asked.. That will be in part 7 I'm doing in [Build your own dragon series] That and the epoxy horns.. (that stuff can be tricky!! Thanks for visiting!!
Man, how do you use sculpty to make something that beautiful? Im sitting at my art desk right now just rolling a small ball of Super Sculpey FIRM in my hand and it's taking forever to soften, i've never been able to make something big like this before with it, I find it cracks when you are molding it and then it's an epic pain in the but to get back together... any tips?
@GlompoFie I am so glad you found my channel!!! I have plenty of tips!! I got a LOT coming up... in fact I'm finishing up some editing.. (on my 3rd try) It's driving me NUTS!! lol =P Let me get back to you?? I wont forget ya... I'm thankful for you visit.. I'll be back soon!! ~~Tom
@IamMohawk Its repair putty, I get it at wall-mart... pretty cheep too! Its a 2-part compound that comes in a tube. The outer part is blue, the center is white.. When you mix it together in equal parts, it gets HOT, then ROCK-HARD! They are NOT likely to break, in fact, they kinda dangerous.. nearly poked my eye out sanding!! ROFL!! sooo... I painted them orange, for safety. But it gives the dragon a tropical feel, huh? He's pretty cool.. thank you so much for taking a look!!
Oh its polymer clay.. I had really decided to do that but instead of having to actually buy the color clay, can you just bake it then paint over it? o.o
@catgirl2634 the clay in this video is unpainted polymer clay (super sculpey) and can EASILY be painted!! This clay comes in MANY colors, which can be mixed into MANY MANY different (new) colors.. You can actually paint (colored clay) like I did in my Micky mouse sculpture, to make painting much faster [ I used black color clay for Micky, then painted over with black acrylic paint] their are NO limits to SCULPEY!!! Thanks for stopping by! =D
@DalueCommentarys Thank you!! I can't say much without making myself seem... out of place, or even looney.. lol =P What I can tell you is that when I get all my ducks in a row, I'll do nice tutorials on how I do this stuff. My methods are simple.. relay! I want to wait just a bit longer, so I can build a bigger crowd. I'm also still trying to sort all the lighting and filming angles out as well.. Thanks again!!
Very nice sculpt
