  • The quality of Barbara's singing never ceases to amaze me, she tackles this rather difficult song with her customary perfect pitch & diction.

  • Now i feel warm and safe!

  • I was living in Portsmouth, Uk., and watched this! I loved her, I loved it there, but was too immature to tough it out...

  • i love the hair cut

  • @carlton683 head like an explosion in a mattress factory, but im sure she would get the joke being half scouse

  • I think Barbara`s single of Answer Me was produced by Junior Campbell of Marmalade ?

  • @GeraldRafferty

Yes he produced the single and the album of the same name. Both superb!

  • Don't you just love this girl ?

  • One of my all time favourites.

  • Great video and song. Is this from The Two Ronnies?

  • The Mod in the National Gaelic singing festival - they have similar festivals in Wales and Ireland.

Mary Hopkins, made her name singing in Welsh, as Barbara Dickson did singing in Gaelic

  • @HunterstonB

Barbara Dickson has never sung in Gaelic!!!

  • Well just goes to show you. . . . A Mod gold medallist showing what you can do with 'grace notes'

The Mod? What's that? Mary Hopkins could tell you :-)

  • @HunterstonB Do you mean a Gaelic singing festival? I grew up in Glasgow and had a friend who used to sing at the Mod. Do they have it in Wales too, if Mary Hopkin was in it?

  • Great memories and a great song. Thanks Barbara, you are number one.

  • What wonderful memories this brings back. luv ya Dad RIPxo

  • One of my all time favorite singers singing a brilliant song.

    Thanks for posting

  • She's so attractive and such a lovely voice; anyone know who wrote this song? It almost sounds like a Christine McVie composition - really beautiful :)

  • One of the best UK female singers of all time along with Mary Hopkin.

  • I love you barbara xxxxx

  • i remember barbara from the two ronnies and am i right in thinking she was a backing singer with jerry rafferty.

  • She is so beautiful and a great singer and player, brought many nice memories back - h

  • Great thing about music is that it brings back memories. This reminds me of my first year at college, 34 years ago!!

  • Love it

  • Brings back memories of Maybury st

  • Thanks rightmoment, but some else has suggested it is s steel guitar. Though it just looks like a box with strings. Though come to think of it that's all a guitar is really.

  • For the musicaly illiterate can anybody tell me what is the instrument that seems a bit like an electric zyther?

  • I think its a dulcimar.

  • Wow found this and found myself thinking of why the years have gone by so fast Answer Me why I am so old now and was young when I heard this the first time and it seems only 5 mins ago!

  • What years was that? I rememeber , it is my most favorite tune

  • I think 1975-6?

  • Oh this song has many memories....looking forward to hearing Barbara singing it on Thursday night in Belfast!!

Agree with the bad hairstyle comments!! LOL

    xxx

  • Her first and, after all these years, still her finest hit single. Wonderful production by Junior Campbell. This knocks spots off 'Caravans' 'January-February' etc.

  • Kenrew.

A slower version of this was a big hit for

Frankie Laine in the 1950's but the B.B.C.

banned it and Frankie had to re-record it

    with changed lyrics.

Barbara's upbeat version in the 70's let us

know that great things were to come from this great singer and we certainly have not been dissapointed.

  • @5869074 'Answer me, Lord above' was changed to 'Answer me, oh my love'

  • She was the backing singer in a play called John, Paul, George, Ringo and Bert, at the Everyman theatre in Liverpool in 1974. I was there, she was fantastic.

  • Dear Darren and Gail,

Hope all is okay with you all...I'm always thinking about you all...How's your mother Marie...? I'd just adore to have some sort of a reply...

Much love to you all and your family's in bothAstralia and Bournmouth

  • Bad hair - But a great song and voice.

  • Old fashioned maybe, but the great thing about music is that it brings back memories. This reminds me of my first year at college. Long before I had to worry about grown up things like a mortgage.

  • Ken Bruce recently played this on his Radio 2 show when Barbara was a studio guest. She said afterwards it was her personal favourite of all her hits though she realised the fans favourite is Caravans.
