its the greatest art to control an instrument but to make such music like vivaldi...there´re no words to describe...awesome...amazing...wonderfulll...all the beauty of the world
I would chose Vivaldi over Mozart. Evryone likes Mozart so much because he was a prodigy. I would pick Vivaldi over Mozart because the music of a prodigy always sounds so lazy
It's crazy to compare Mozart and Vivaldi. You don't need to search the best: each of them is the best one! The sense is a music. Just listen it. There's no sense to compare, because the Music will always win.
Comparing Baroque to romantic is like comparing sculpture to painting, they're two different arts and none is better than the other. It's a matter of opinion.
Its cool to see so many talented people playing simultaneuously in cooperation on the same instrument. I love how the soloist doesn't neccessarily synchonize a change in notes with a change in stroke of the bow.. indeed can sustain a note through a change in direction.. Very cool.
lol WOW. Well you are kinda close but I'm sure during that age the Harpsichord was still being used, but I'm sure what you call "Medieval stuff" would be called Folk music nowadays, not entirely sure just correct me if I'm wrong.
Traditional folk music is (by in large) is music that did not come from the pen of the great composers. Folk music music was the music of the poorer classes such as Gypsies, tradesmen, and journeymen. It wasn't written down but passed on from generation to generation. Because of this many variations of a tune or song emerged and the name of the composer forgotten. Remember the majority of the poor classes were illiterate. The music was not multilayered as this came about with notation.
@Bshow1212 We simply don't know who wrote the sonnets but Vivalldi definately used them. Some verses are straight out of the Hebrew bible e.g.'For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:..'Ecclesiates Chapter 3
This song sounds very similar to some ones played in the PS2 game "Shadow of Colossus", a game that have won prizes by its soundtrack wich is made totally by an orchestra.
It's a pick-piano they played at the time of Baroque. not the ordinary piano of our time, which is played by hitting its strings with hammers. this "piano" can't produce sound in shifting velocities as you might notice, i find it quite interesting
This performance was AVERAGE. The soloist didn't think about the musicality of the piece, or how this piece is from the Baroque era. Lacked rubato at vital times, dynmaics, were dull, need to vary more at certain parts. The notes however at c.5:30 were played in the baroque style. Plus, the soloist was dull to watch, no movement.
I haven't played the violin for a few years now, and have forgotten a lot of terminology. Could you please remind me what "rubato" means? Which instrument do you play? Here are the technical terms I DO remember:
spiccato--bouncing the bow on the string
pizzicato--plucking the strings with your right-hand finger
vibrato--vibrating your finger to give prolonged notes a warm feeling
staccato--playing with short, separate strokes
leggato--playing with smooth, long, connected slurs
The summer movements were a suprise to me. I didn't think they were summery as in summer my part of the world (Southern England) but if Vivaldi was trying to convey sultry heat and the feeling of lethargy experienced with heat and humidity and the brooding thunderstorms then the movements are spot on.
I like how they read Vivaldi's description of the song (it was Vivaldi's description wasn't it?) I thought the largo was a bit fast but each to his own I suppose. Good stuff.
This is my favourite piece of music ever. I love others but this was the first and blew me away. Never will I get her and never will I want to, for she is so much more than I am and I would never wish to reduce her to my level.
