I love this song and Rachmaninoff so much! One of my long term goals is to learn this very concerto and play on a big stage with a symphony:) Props to Lang Lang!
I love this piece so much- it doesn't matter who plays it. And his interpretation is interesting. Think I like Rachmaninov's interpretation better. :-p
I would recommend listening to performances by Kissin and Cliburn, both of which are here on YouTube. Lang Lang reminds me of Liberace, entertaining, but not really up to scratch for concert performance.
@boboandjacob I have already listened to the interpretations from both Kissin and Caliburn. I have to say I thought Caliburn's was the best until I listened to this. I have listened Kissin once I think his interpretation is too solid and not quite smooth. For me, Kissin's interpretation doesn't stand a chance against this.
He has the best interpretation of Rachmaninov Piano Conc. No. 2 I have ever heard. Hands down. It's like he's breathing it, and the orchestra actually dampens this performance..it can't respond to the piece with Lang Lang's quicksilver. He is just magical !

How bloody slow is the beginning !!!! This isnt that good anyway. He plays lightly and 'above the keys' watch kissins peformance, then you'll realise how bad lang lang is and that he is just a bloody fake and a show off.
Divine performance.

Such an organic performance! A computer could never replicate that beautiful use of rubato!

@callum6660 Yeah maybe he's a show off, but every1 has their own interpretation of a piece, that slow beginning was pretty interesting to watch.
