Hey, very good, man! I have the same piano, and I feel that it's keys are a bit heavy... which is a good thing, I think, because it's easier for one to play other pianos. I actually taught myself the first movement of sonata 23 in F minor, and I was initially discouraged by the fact that I played it too slowly, and then I realized that my tempo was fine on the grand in the concert hall. But anyway... have you posted any of your own compositions? I'd be interested to hear them.
@AntonVonShrodinger hey, sorry for the late response. I haven't really been paying much attention to the site and have been busy. Hey slow or fast whatever as long as the music takes first as a priority, technique and showmanship and flashiness and all those things are way overrated and have been degrading the music itself. I have changed my style a lot since I posted these videos also in part due to the fact that my energy is more focused on composing now. Which brings me to your question...
@AntonVonShrodinger No, I haven't uploaded any of my compositions except the Happy dog video but that is just pure sillyness and fun as is obvious but I do plan in the future to star uploading all that I have been working on. Thanks for the interest! Best regards.
how long have you been playing when you decided to take this piece on ??? By the way you're part of my inspiration. I am now obligated to play as well as you do !!!
Have you played the Grande Pathetique Sonata Opus 13 ???
@thepathetique Hello there. Well, I started playin the piano about 5 years ago though now I am more focused on composing. I have loosened the grip a bit on the piano. But if I remember correctly I started working on this piece about a year into my studies and practiced it for about six months. Good wishes with your practicing just work hard at it many hours a day. Take inspirations from the musicality of great pianists. Thank you for being inspired in me, it is good to hear.
Gould's last name was actually Gold. His father changed it so they would not be mistraken as jewish family. So no relation to the Glenn Gould familial tree.
Glenn Gould's actual last name was Gold. His father changed it to Gould because they did not want to be mistaken as Jewish. Therefore there is no chance of a relation.
AWESOME!!! lol though i play it differently, at the first few measures, i cross over with my left had over my right at the triplets instead of switching. might be my fav sonata!!!
1:21 to about 1:33 PERSONALLY, i feel that the left hand was over powering the right hand a bit, but hey, i had a helluva time trying to play this piece myself and other than that, great job :)
great job on the piece. the section at 5:08 was a little off, rhythmically, but it doesnt take away from the overall performance. keep up the hard work. if you want (and i would appreciate if you do) you could review my own recording of this piece. i would be glad to hear feedback from a fellow pianist like you. :)
actually, its based on whatever you feel like doing, personally i prefer to put the left hand over the right, but hand switching is also acceptable. The Schnabel version says to hand switch, but others say to go over.
You kept my attention. However, I think there were many parts you could have played stronger, and I think you ignored to accent a lot of the more interesting parts. You have to get past the mechanics of the piano.
Sounds great. Watch for the softer dynamics; pp passages played softly could actually make it more intense. You could try using less of your weight to force or bang out the sound; lower your wrists to get a deeper, more stable sound. This would probably help make the alternating eighth note passages more even. Also, you might want to try staying closer to the keys on the allegro runs... it will help keep the energy in your fingers and not your arms/shoulders. Great job!
Wow that was an excellent performance. I greatly enjoyed it. I played this before and i think you did an excellend job with your phrasing and creating a very ominous character. Watch pp dyanamics though in cetain spots. The turns and rolls could be played slightly faster to give more life to the slow section. Anyways great with everything i greatly enjoyed your playing
i love der Sturm! ... very, very good interpretation ... I've seen the guy live (performing some avantgarde music) and this video does no justice to him...
Whatever is said nothing can deny that you've got a real good tempo.

well, I prefer playing it with a more romantic expression, but its not bad, you hit all the notes, I just feel it could use more emotion.

Kevin, that is wonderful playing. Not rushed. The songlike sections were deeply felt and executed. The contrasting sections are wonderfully drawn.
I REALLY would prefer that you could make these recordings on a decent concert grand, rather than the one in your practice room.
You and I entitled hear you on a better piano.

What's with the hand switching, you're supposed to cross your left hand over O_o but it's pretty good I guess

well, actually if you look at the sheet music it writes that you shouldn't cross your hands

I'd like to hear him play this on a piano that's less bright and "tinny" sounding.
Right hand is much stronger than left...work on getting the left less wooden sounding would be my best advice.
