To laperdepaperhond312, maybe it's a psychological thing that the mother has. Maybe in her childhood, she came from a broken home and her mother was a bad mother as well. She is displaying some of the behavioural patters that she saw but she is also striving to be this "perfect mother" and in turn doing the opposite. I believe she is repressing alot of the childhood memories she experienced in her childhood. I am not a psych major, this is just a guess. LOL!!!

@MochaSkies -> The mother suffers from Munchausen By Proxy :) It's a a psychological syndrome wherein the caregiver lies or exaggerates a child's mishealth, or even purposely makes them sick, in order to get attention from doctors. I'm not a psych major, so that isn't a really the full story, but I know of someone with the other 'form', Munchausen Syndrome.

Usually they will make the child sick enough they need to stay in the hospital so they can get attention from the staff. Unfortunately if doctors don't notice it, and its bad enough the children will die.

In layman's terms, she is purposely making him sick, so she feels and thinks that she is "taking care" of her child.
