Other countries can't get away with it, but the US can, because it's a reserve currency, and many countries around the global world still use it or are pegged against it. As long as their is demand the dollar will stand. Also the US military threat is backing the dollar. Also, a low dollar value is good for US manufacturers to export, and good for people that likes Gold. We all win.
