Just download the app called better cut along with the icon packs you want and get busy. And the Droid is a very nice phone, but when it comes to comparing it to the nexus one, it ain't even close. Also, you're actually saying the iPhone is better because "you can change the theme by hacking your phone"? The one thing that iPhone has is the app store. Um, I'm going to have to call a lot of BS here. The N1 CAN be rooted and can have every aspect of it changed, even the entire OS can be changed (Want to run the Hero's OS, no problem). You can change every little aspect of the phone, easier then you can with the iPhon. I do own both, and my N1 is rooted and modded to MY liking. the N1 is FAR better then the iPhone, it may not be as popular yet, but it's gaining momentum.
Nexus one hasent made any new things. all reviews compare the SAME thing in better quality. The Nexus One just copied the iphone in a better quality sort of way.
But if there's a phone that can take your dog out and it's the only one, and you live under a rock there's no point in buying it. You don't buy just cuz it's the first one that takes your dog out, you buy it cuz you need a phone that can take your dog out.
The android is the better phone, anyone disagreeing is simply wrong. The only advantage the iPhone has, is that it's more popular because it's way longer available. If it was vice versa, apple would have pumped the iPhone with awesome hardware trying to win customers.
iphone definitely has the best onscreen keyboard but that is about it. the appstore is larger but the life of the phone has been how much longer and most iphone apps cost money while a ridiculous amount of android apps are free and android phones come very customizable without having to jailbreak and lose warranty. if nexus one improves the keyboard response and maybe finds a way to release a "nexus two" with a mutlitouch loophole iphone is dead
That's the thing, though, they don't even need to release a new phone. All HTC devices since before the G1 even, have had multi-touch capabilities built into the hardware. For legal reasons though, it has been disabled on the software level.
Some company has a pending suit against Apple for ownership of the multi-touch patent. Once that blows over, all HTC has to do is release a new version of the firmware, and all HTC capacitive touch phones will have the capability.
That's not true. The Sprint HTC Hero uses multi-touch at least on the keyboard, and the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi use multi-touch. Apple doesn't have any legal hold over it, hate to burst your bubble.
The point still stands though. It is disabled on the software, not hardware level, so an official firmware update, or just loading a Cyanogen rom would activate multi-touch.
Yeah and jailbreaking an iPhone gives you multi-touch, side-loading apps, new notification systems, multi-tasking, and everything else that Android offers.
The iPhone 3GS is clearly a higher quality of device in terms of usabilitiy and smoothness in the UI... It's a lot less complicated to give the iPhone everything Android has than it is to give Android the things that iPhone does so well..

To start off. I don't see why, there is even a discussion about this being a new "iPhone Killer" there wasn't an old "iPhone Killer." On a second note, I personally own an iPhone 3GS, and I absolutely love and adore my phone. This in not to say, I think the N1 is a piece of shit. I make no assumptions . There is no need to compare these 2 completely different phones. iPhone was the innovator of the Touchscreen Smartphone, and it's great that others have jumped on and kept up. So thumbs to all.
i still like the iphone though. i store my music on it and ipods in generals really has great quality. i think i would get the nexus 1 and the ipod touch
Bozardio, you also should consider that you are comparing last year's iPhone with the most recent development of Google, HTC, and T-Mobile, so if you are questioning the basis of "being relative" then that is overulled by the fact that the N1 is brand new, and the iPhone 3GS is ~6 months old, and yet can still compete with the N1.
iPhone has bigger app store, more built in storage (although N1 can be expanded to 32GB) and arguably an easier interface (for people who suck with technology). In every single other measurable sense the N1 is superior. I dumped the iPhone for the N1 and couldn't be happier. The screen is amazing, loads everything very quickly and best of all you don't have to use iTunes. I've let a few iPhone users user my phone and they plan to dump them for the N1.
Sorry dude, but some of you're information is way off. The nexus one is much more customizable than the iphone even after you jailbreak the iphone. You CAN change the icons and whatever else you want. The nexus one can also be rooted so that you can basically control everything about the phone. Also, almost the entire android marketplace is filled with 3rd party apps! lol..and the nexus one is basically a souped-up droid without a keyboard.

Also, like I said below, name a few features Android can do that the iPhone can't. Argue that you need to jailbreak for many of the features all you want, but the option is there, and jailbreaking couldn't be any easier. It's as simple as opening a program (Blackra1n) and clicking "Make it ra1n".

Aboe showed a demo of Flash 10.1 on Android, I just happen to be special enough to be playing with it. HERO/ERIS and Droid all support flash, Apple does not. Adobe is fighting Apple for it.
Your third party multi-tasking takes away from your locked CPU, my built-in-native-to-my-OS multitasking is much better. The GC on this phone blows Apple away anyway.

I don't know why it bothers you people so much when someone prefers an iPhone. I'm not hating on the N1. I think it's a great phone. IMO, the ultimate phone would be an iPhone OS with the N1's hardware and WebOS's UI. Talk about badass.
@iChrisRAWR Ease of use is a relative term. In some ways I've found Android much easier to use. Scrolling is just as smoother (if not more smooth) on the N1. iTunes syncing is not necessarily a plus since iTunes is a PITA bloated piece of software. The multitouch on safari is nice but hardly a dealbreaker + safari's flash capabilities are severely limited, and we don't need a jailbreak community since it's already open. Nothing you listed makes iPhone good enough to compensate for lack of specs.

IMO, the iPhone is better than both, but I think almost everyone can agree that the N1 is better than the Droid. The only thing the Droid has that the N1 doesn't is a flat and crappy physical keyboard, but I prefer virtual keyboards anyway. Well, I guess Verizon's network, too. For now.

The Nexus one has better hardware in almost every aspect, but doesn't have the iPhone OS. Fewer capabilities? Name a few things Android can do that a jailbroken iPhone can't.
And I'm not stuck with AT&T. AT&T is great in my area. I'd have them regardless of whether or not I have the iPhone. But I really hope you're not arguing that AT&T's network sucks, and then use T-Mobile as an example of a good carrier. AT&T's 3G footprint is small, but T-Mobile's is microscopic.

Um, I'm going to have to call a lot of BS here. The N1 CAN be rooted and can have every aspect of it changed, even the entire OS can be changed (Want to run the Hero's OS, no problem). You can change every little aspect of the phone, easier then you can with the iPhon. I do own both, and my N1 is rooted and modded to MY liking. the N1 is FAR better then the iPhone, it may not be as popular yet, but it's gaining momentum.

iphone definitely has the best onscreen keyboard but that is about it. the appstore is larger but the life of the phone has been how much longer and most iphone apps cost money while a ridiculous amount of android apps are free and android phones come very customizable without having to jailbreak and lose warranty. if nexus one improves the keyboard response and maybe finds a way to release a "nexus two" with a mutlitouch loophole iphone is dead

That's the thing, though, they don't even need to release a new phone. All HTC devices since before the G1 even, have had multi-touch capabilities built into the hardware. For legal reasons though, it has been disabled on the software level.
Some company has a pending suit against Apple for ownership of the multi-touch patent. Once that blows over, all HTC has to do is release a new version of the firmware, and all HTC capacitive touch phones will have the capability.

That's not true. The Sprint HTC Hero uses multi-touch at least on the keyboard, and the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi use multi-touch. Apple doesn't have any legal hold over it, hate to burst your bubble.

The iPhone 3GS is clearly a higher quality of device in terms of usabilitiy and smoothness in the UI... It's a lot less complicated to give the iPhone everything Android has than it is to give Android the things that iPhone does so well..

To start off. I don't see why, there is even a discussion about this being a new "iPhone Killer" there wasn't an old "iPhone Killer." On a second note, I personally own an iPhone 3GS, and I absolutely love and adore my phone. This in not to say, I think the N1 is a piece of shit. I make no assumptions . There is no need to compare these 2 completely different phones. iPhone was the innovator of the Touchscreen Smartphone, and it's great that others have jumped on and kept up. So thumbs to all.

Bozardio, you also should consider that you are comparing last year's iPhone with the most recent development of Google, HTC, and T-Mobile, so if you are questioning the basis of "being relative" then that is overulled by the fact that the N1 is brand new, and the iPhone 3GS is ~6 months old, and yet can still compete with the N1.

iPhone has bigger app store, more built in storage (although N1 can be expanded to 32GB) and arguably an easier interface (for people who suck with technology). In every single other measurable sense the N1 is superior. I dumped the iPhone for the N1 and couldn't be happier. The screen is amazing, loads everything very quickly and best of all you don't have to use iTunes. I've let a few iPhone users user my phone and they plan to dump them for the N1.

Sorry dude, but some of you're information is way off. The nexus one is much more customizable than the iphone even after you jailbreak the iphone. You CAN change the icons and whatever else you want. The nexus one can also be rooted so that you can basically control everything about the phone. Also, almost the entire android marketplace is filled with 3rd party apps! lol..and the nexus one is basically a souped-up droid without a keyboard.

Also, like I said below, name a few features Android can do that the iPhone can't. Argue that you need to jailbreak for many of the features all you want, but the option is there, and jailbreaking couldn't be any easier. It's as simple as opening a program (Blackra1n) and clicking "Make it ra1n".

Aboe showed a demo of Flash 10.1 on Android, I just happen to be special enough to be playing with it. HERO/ERIS and Droid all support flash, Apple does not. Adobe is fighting Apple for it.
Your third party multi-tasking takes away from your locked CPU, my built-in-native-to-my-OS multitasking is much better. The GC on this phone blows Apple away anyway.

Ease of use, smoothe scrolling, iPod with iTunes syncing, best mobile browser, some AMAZING apps and great games, the entire jailbreak community (met some awesome people through jailbreaking), best copy/paste integration in a smartphone, great support, etc.
I don't know why it bothers you people so much when someone prefers an iPhone. I'm not hating on the N1. I think it's a great phone. IMO, the ultimate phone would be an iPhone OS with the N1's hardware and WebOS's UI. Talk about badass.

@iChrisRAWR Ease of use is a relative term. In some ways I've found Android much easier to use. Scrolling is just as smoother (if not more smooth) on the N1. iTunes syncing is not necessarily a plus since iTunes is a PITA bloated piece of software. The multitouch on safari is nice but hardly a dealbreaker + safari's flash capabilities are severely limited, and we don't need a jailbreak community since it's already open. Nothing you listed makes iPhone good enough to compensate for lack of specs.

And I'm not stuck with AT&T. AT&T is great in my area. I'd have them regardless of whether or not I have the iPhone. But I really hope you're not arguing that AT&T's network sucks, and then use T-Mobile as an example of a good carrier. AT&T's 3G footprint is small, but T-Mobile's is microscopic.

another thing, its ppl like you that is letting google take over. the only thing i use from google is youtube and thats only cause theirs no other option out there as good. so buy the phone, i couldnt give a shit. but remember that they are recording everything you do on that phone... txt, phone calls, internet browsing, note taking, etc. i like my privacy and thanks for the iphone, i was able to remove admob which in its scripts, it was able to listen to my calls. learn a little noob.
