  • Great video, but holy smokes, what's with the neon green??? ;-)

  • Old macks are cool new ones look like shit, they make good cement trucks

  • Jazda jak możenie takim truckiem :) Pozdrawiam :) POLAND :)

  • DAME UN PASEO EN ESE R600

  • Lordtaw, you are a dummy! Yes I said Dummy! I have 3 confirmations your info is WRONG! Count them, 1-2-3. Don't f**k with a MACK Man or his WOMAN!

  • @lordtaw Also fuck you YouTube/Google for making me hack up the URL's in order to post.

  • you dumb fuckers. i have been reading your posts. no one has any idea how this works. the pole closest to you has 5 gears. the other has low, high, and rev. thats it. it is a trx trans. it was called a 12 speed, but had 15 speeds. 5 high, 5 low, and 5 rev. i know because i have been a mack truck mechanic for 15 years. plus we haul a lot of turkey shit with 1970's r-models. they are all tip turbine engines with 12 speed trannys.

  • @Ladylawless8

Dear lord.... The 12 speed TRTXL1070 had an air shift knob on the main stick with HI-LO-N-R. Second stick called the mud stick had just two gears, hi & low, you just used first gear on the main stick with the mud stick in low. later they replaced the stick with a switch on the dash, The transmission in the video is most likely a true Mack twin stick duplex/triple/quad box. That R model has a metal dash which was from 1963-1973 and the END(T)673 + twin stick was an option in an R.

  • Nice work! My first truck job was on one of these right after learning on a 13 speed. A learning experience for sure.

  • love the green

  • @studeystudebaker50 agreed 100%, very nice.

  • It is very wonderful.

  • And the driver knows what he's doing to shift twin sticks without touching the clutch

  • The right stick is used just like a two speed axle, it's called split shifting- without a load you can use it as a 6-speed- you shift 1lo-2lo-3lo-4lo-4hi-5hi. This is completey different from a Roadranger 9 speed which is much more common these days- they also have 5 gears and then a 2 position air shift valve on the stick- you shift lo-1-2-3-4, pull the switch up and go back through 1-2-3-4. The actual shift pattern is lo-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8. These are much easier to learn than the old split Mack 9

  • The left stick has 5 forward gears+reverse, the right stick has lo and hi range- to use all nine gears, you start in 1st on the left and lo on the right, shift the right stick to hi, then you shift the left stick up to 2nd and the right back to lo-then the right stick is shifted to hi-this is 4th gear- then the left stick is moved to 3rd and the right stick back to lo and so on until you get to 4th gear on the left stick and hi on the right- then you move the left stick to 5th, which is 9th gear

  • I am so confused how the two shifters work.

  • @killswitchdeath from my understanding its basically like a mountain bike with the gears on the crank and the gears on the back tire

  • @quadkid4 Thanks! That makes a lot of sense!

  • @quadkid4 thats pretty good man, never heard it like that before, probably would have helped me when i started out.... makes alot more sense

  • @killswitchdeath the left one is the gears and the one on the right is your splitter, put it in first gear, then put the splitter in low to start off, then run thru the gears... when you start to reach the end of your gears,, put the splitter in a higher ratio then start the gears all over again... it takes time but i started on a newer pete, that had the splitter oon the gear shifter... made it alot easier

  • @Jeffreyrno Thanks Jeffrey! I think if i ever had to drive something with this type of setup, i could actually get it moving!!

  • @killswitchdeath no problem man, glad i could help.. it's alot easier than you think,,, just gota get in there and learn.lol

  • @Jeffreyrno Would it be easy enough for a first timer to learn on? I've wanted to fix up a semi truck ever since I was little and hope to build a show truck someday.

  • @Fireheart528 hahahaha..no

  • @Fireheart528

Its not hard to learn shifting a twin stick. If you can shift an un-synchronized gear box (Fuller/Rockwell/Mack) then you can shift a twin stick. You just have to remember that you split the main gears (1-5) using the compound. I have a B61 with the 9 speed Mack duplex and its pretty strait forward. You can even shift it like a 5 speed when your unloaded. leave the compound in HI and shift 1-5. Although if you have a light load you may want to shift 1-4 in LO split 4 and shift to 5

  • @killswitchdeath Lower ratio* sorry really tired

  • that green looks fucking stupid im sorry.

  • @88pie88 Fuck you, stupid cunt.

  • At least you don't have to worry about falling asleep in this truck with this lime green

  • Is that a cable parking break?

  • Awesome sound!!

  • that is one green Mack 0_o

  • omg omg omg omg omg this is awesome!!!!!!! i liked!!

  • I'm so confused, But I liked whatever it was you were doing!

  • what type of interior?

  • nice very nice

  • thats a nice truck.

  • my fav is either the 6spd or 12 in there the 2 sticks kinda neat though

  • you should wash your pants!

  • Real Men have 2 sticks, love to hear an old Dog bark.Hope to have an old B-model.Scratch gears?

Even if you did,and you didn't,a Mack is so tough, you could put bolts in the Trans.and it would put out paperclips.Anyone that Critiqes shifting has never driven a twin stick.Keep kickin that Dog.

  • got a nice R600 hood, early model 60's nice shape, alot of new Mack chrome in the box, horns, split dogs, hood dog, mack script, bunch of stuff, new old stock owners manual and used shop manuals if anyone is interested. Had a 69R 600 quad box.
