feels more like samba than belly dance... she is a very good dancer and is lively and very engaging, unlike some technically good dancers with deadpan faces. but having seen her in other videos, she gives an impression that her technique is limited. heavy shimmying, turkish drops and head bangs are her thing, but what about layered moves, undulations, clean isolations?? her arms and hands appear stiff and unfeminine sometimes. she sure has the ability, just doesn't fully come through.

I have seen real belly dance. This is a modern dance with belly dance moves added for sure, but I realize that. I happen to like it in addition to liking more traditional styles as well. Not all Russian dancers dance like Maria. They each develop their own style and I think they are amazing.
