ok, i have a question but i want your honest answer. i'm a new driver, meaning i got my license about a year ago. my entire driving experience is less than 50 hours. i only drve when i rent a car. i'm getting a car early fall this year and i'm thinking of getting an M3. i drove my friend's and fell in love with it the moment i got into it. do you think it is a good idea to start with that car?
@newsweekrocks It's easy to drive for the most part...but I wouldn't recommend this car for a new driver. As civilized as it can be I can attest that it can give you a false sense of confidence.

@ltrebl Yeah, I can do a walkaround. It might take some time to do it as I have the car in storage right now for winter. I might be able to make one from old footage though. And between the sedan and coupe? Because I'm 24 the coupe makes sense...but if I was older and had a family I would probably go with the sedan. Either way you can't lose.

@TheWatcherxx99 I always shoulder check in heavy traffic. Trusting your sideview mirrors exclusively isn't the best idea. They don't give you the ability to judge how fast traffic is coming up on you and they only have a limited view range. A shoulder check is a visual confirmation of what's around you which is why I do it.

Unfortunately for me, I happen to love cars too much which is why I have this car. At this moment I'm about 18 months from paying it off.
@AceFuzion It is a pretty comfortable car. The ride is a little harsh as would be expected from any performance car. I don't drive this car everyday only because I have a tendancy to speed when I drive it. I don't like getting or paying speeding tickets.
Not at all. It can be tough in older cars but in the M3 its very easy to learn. Clutch is very soft and has tremendous feel. The shifter is smooth as well.

Just in my experience watching the market, if you wait a few more years to see where the prices are at for used E90/92's, you may be able to pick up a used E90/92 M3 in near-new condition for half of the starting price. My guess is that in 3-4 years you'll be able to get some E90/92s for around $35k. Then its just about watching until you find one with the features you want. Then you could possibly pay cash on it and not have to worry about payments. Its all timing though.

@tallica4us I've been unlucky several times when it comes to law enforcement. However, I usually plead not guilty and go to court. 95% of the time the ticket is either reduced or thrown out. Most of my tickets have been complete nonsense and I claimed that I was being profiled in court because of the type of cars I drive. Most of the time the court doesn't argue with me about it.

@cabanos 2011. And I would take the M3 anyday over the 335i. While a lot of people claim that 335i's can beat M3's with mild mods (and they can) they don't feel the same in terms of handling characteristics or overall feeling. The M3 just feels special when you sit in it and that's what I love the most about it.
@foleygac I'd have to agree, I got a M-Sport 535i, ( going to slap a procede, and maybe single turbo it ) but driving a Legit M is like no other. Congrats on your 2011 M. :)

how do you like the car man? i drive a 2010 528 and I also test drove a 335. the 335 was great but felt a little more "rattly" in terms of quality. for example closing the door on the 5 it just feels a lot more solid. how do u like your m3 from a quality stand point? i got a 2011 328 yesterday for a rental while my 5 was at the shop, and that thing flew!! i can only imagine how fast the m3 is. well anyways enjoy your beautiful car man. safe driving

Nice! I thought I was the only one who still used the shoulder glance for hway use. Probably only necessary when exhibiting higher entrance speeds but definitely worth it. Recall one time I "relied on my mirror" and came up on a semi in my srt8 at about a buck and some change and man did i pucker! Almost was underneath like a scene in the F&F! @Exowar01 Thanks man. However, you can't always rely on your side view mirrors to tell you what's behind you. Especially true in heavy traffic where cars all travel different speeds in different lanes.

how do you like the car man? i drive a 2010 528 and I also test drove a 335. the 335 was great but felt a little more "rattly" in terms of quality. for example closing the door on the 5 it just feels a lot more solid. how do u like your m3 from a quality stand point? i got a 2011 328 yesterday for a rental while my 5 was at the shop, and that thing flew!! i can only imagine how fast the m3 is. well anyways enjoy your beautiful car man. safe driving

Nice! I thought I was the only one who still used the shoulder glance for hway use. Probably only necessary when exhibiting higher entrance speeds but definitely worth it. Recall one time I "relied on my mirror" and came up on a semi in my srt8 at about a buck and some change and man did i pucker! Almost was underneath like a scene in the F&F! Needless to say, I'm constantly peeking over my shoulder now - Nice M btw ;)

@antonio105x Thank you man. No, you're def not the only shoulder glancer out there. The shoulder glance is the most valuable asset to anyone on the highway. Side view mirrors are pretty much useless for the exact reasons you cited. I'll trust my eye first before I trust the small picture I see in the mirror.
