  • this is touchy because we have it in our dnas; when I listen her, I remember.... de ja vu

  • I'd love some lyrics and a translation! :D The title (Hearing You) is intriguing.

  • The Sami culture is Nordic and northwestern Russian. It is likely some Sami have a turanian background, but you cannot generalize it. Sami are mixed with different peoples. Read more about the Sami. It is not as simple as previously told, and for the Hungarians it is even more complex. Language is not equivalent with origin. If some of each person many ancestors lived in a certain place it does not mean that the person is from there or descends from there only. Each of us is of mixed origins.

  • Boine is Norwegian and Nordic, not Hungarian or Indian. She is a really great. My favorite singer.

  • After a horribly tiring workweek/workday I had to come here and liten to her. And yes, I am Hungarian as well...

Soothing, beautiful, even better than a shot of pálinka.

  • she is very good! :)

  • She is brilliant

  • i adore this woman

did sami travel to be the cherokee?

  • Actually, yes. They were once the same. In East India, then one group went East, to North America and the other group went West to Europe than got separated (some scientists claim that they separated into the Hungarians and the Samis.

  • wow, I have never heard about this cultural separation of Hungarians and Sami - and NA Indians - but it gives a bit of meaning to the fact there are only two languages in Ugrofinnish branch of languages - so exotic to other Europeans...

  • yup:)

And we (Hungarians) have a lot in common wtih NA Indians....

  • If was possible to travel across the Bering Gulf about 60 000 years ago.. and there actually are much more languages in the Finno-Ugric tree of languages.. nenets, estonian, ostyak, vogul, hungarian, hanti, mansi.. 22 actually counted, some of them disappearing or gone..

  • Sorry, have to correct, actually 15, because I accidentally counted also the Samojedi languages of the Uralese group... stupid of me. Anyway, the nubber is changing.

And I also like Dead Can Dance.. and Buffy St.M. is my forever favourite.

  • You didn't finish your thought. You started: "If was possible to travel across the Bering Gulf about 60 000 years ago...' Than?

  • i think he meant *it was* otherwise it would be *If it is*

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, so?

Why are you telling me that?

He's the one who messed up.

  • dude im not trollin, was meant to be a helpful comment relax, simple typos happen thats all :), lol,

  • Yeah but it still wasn't my type-o, dude:D

  • Well, more than two...Hungarian, Saami, Finnish, and Estonian are all part of it, as well as several other smaller languages.

Also, there is no evidence to support the claim that the Saami and Native Americans are related. There are some superficial similarities, but nothing concrete.

  • I've been thinking alot lately about the connection between Saami people and the nomadic cultures in the very central of asia (Tuvan, mongolian, Altai and so forth).

The resemblance and the "spirits" are quite close to eachother, not to mention the importance of heritage (As far as i've read and understood about them).

Also heard that some old joikhs include overtone singing before the joikh to conjure the right spirits for the song :)

  • @Cosmikh0bo i love tibetan and mongolian folk songs - after listening to sami music - i feel they send out a similar message telling their life and their beautiful land. I feel their passion for their land through their music.

  • @HalaBasinah Indeed. I can feel the connection.

  • This is great!! Seems like Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance picked some tips of this woman... or otherwise? They are both great anyway... :)
