  • Gran Turismo 4 Fail Music, great song! :)

  • get a bov turbo surge sounds cool but its not great for ur tubo plus it now has to re-spool.

  • Hehe, now that looks like fun; great noise and very tail happy = big :) 's

  • obviously the most underrated sports car ever manufactured....hidden in a "Chick Car" classification, thank God some of us realize it

  • NO INTERCOOLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Doesn't sound like a Lexus V8, sounds American.

  • what size is the v8 and does it upset the weight distribution?

  • @ethownzbh Most of the V8 swaps for Miatas add only 200 lbs depending on the engine of choice (there are bolt-in kits for LS, but Ford 5.0 and Lexus 4.xL are also popular. They DO effect weight distro but not as bad as you'd expect. In fact it's the high power and torque numbers combined with the Miata's short wheel base that make it hard to handle, not the new weight distro.

  • Well it has hat V8 top end power

  • im so siked to see this, im currently building a 1uz miata drift car myself, what rear end setup are you using?

  • i just got done watchin ferris buelers day off

  • too much power . maybe for drag race.

  • Watching this vide changed my prespectiveon Miatas lol they obviousy arent a ladies car haha

  • @Ryan0840 i used to be like that to until my buddy made me drive his it was a 1.8 turbo pushing 20 psi and just fell in love with them that day then a week later i bought mine

  • lmao i can't believe you have this song on here

  • would much rather have this set up then my 5.0 motor

  • I'm just glad he didn't catch those rotaries infront of him.

  • wow how does the frame not twist?

LOL the music was super gay! xD

  • Nice car you have there. Did you build it from a kit ,or hand fabricated. What transmission did you use to hold all the power it makes. Does look like a lot of fun to drive. Would like to build one my self some day. Any info would help. Best, yl

  • that miata sounds gnarley, id love to take it out, it drift's very nice out of the turn's, i just fit in the 240 z better.

  • SWEEET BUT NO TURBOS JUST V8

  • @KingBarlow He clearly shows you the remote mount turbo kit....

  • That car is just plain awesome!

  • That thing would make an awesome drift car.

  • Whats the name of the sound track to this video clip?

  • @MrSkweak Yello - Oh yeah :)

  • What type of transmission are you using with this setup. The Miata being built with a small 4 cyc motor would only have a low torque transmission, I would think ? Nice run the car seems to move & handle very well. Best, yl

  • @ylism wrong. the 6 speed xmission from the miatas are built ridiculous well. Most high powered, B motored miatas use six speeds. Mine ran at 383 ft lbs for years. never had an issue. Motor blew before tranny.

  • @JgHaverty This was my ? {The Miata being built with a small 4 cyc motor would only have a low torque transmission, I would think ? } I was asking a ? about the norm. Not making a statement. Hence the ? mark. Now he has a V 8 in the car, I don't know yet witch trans he use's. I know all manual trans can hold more TQ then there rated under the right conditions. Even you said yours broke after a while. When over TQ' ed . You missed the point of all my post. Asking what trans He runs now ?

  • @ylism my engine broke not my transmission lol. Most likely he runs an RX7 TT transmission with an adapter plate, OR a t56, but im just speculating. The 6 speed tranny on the miata is geared super close for some reason. I dont like it. But its a beast. Mazda makes fantastic transmissions.

  • @JgHaverty No doubt that Mazda trans are good. But you did say after your motor went "Motor blew before tranny. " Makes it sound like it blew as well just later on.Good day, yl

  • 3:18 yee haw!!! nice driving :) looks like you have 4 wheel steering-

  • what is the name of tthe song

  • @bajsraket Yello - Oh yeah :)

  • impressive engine good run

  • great swap but sorry ass driver scary bitch !~ as you see in the vid

  • you watch the same vid i did?

  • i bet the scoobie drier was like :|

  • Hilarious. I just see his face looking exactly like that. That was a day maker comment.

  • hell yea cluch kick the shit out of it and dirft that bitch

  • Looks like a handfull to keep it straight

    I Love It <3

  • Came myself @ 52 seconds.

  • sick

  • know i want a V8 miata

  • little drift near the end was pretty sweet. :)

  • Only complaint I have about this video....it's too short! :-)

  • Great Car! Terrific sound from engine and exhaust. Really tuff ride. Thanks for sharing it with us!

  • hey this wouldn't happen to be winton raceway?

  • who gives a shit. for a tiny car with a v8 turbo or not it hauls and controls like a dream

  • man I know you ride bikes like I do and all...but your car looks kind of slow for a V8 with twin turbos in a car that weighs less than 2400lbs.

  • ur brain must be kinda slow. did you not see that awd STI that he caught in a matter of seconds off the line? kinda hard to harness the true power of v8 turbo when your tires dont grab the fucking road lol.

  • sti who cares, they can't take off hard or they blow the transmission apart for one.

he should have used a LS1 engine like everyone else. they seem way faster than this one. and they don't have turbos.

  • You cant talk shit about an sti, because like most kids on youtube... you have probably never owned one, let alone even drive one.. or any cars like these. Id like to see you catch a rally sport, faggot. LOL! keep playing need 4 speed.

  • he probably chose the lexus motor because it's 1700 cc's smaller and will handle a lot better on a track with turns. the twin turbos are not factory.

  • No way man, this guy is hauling ass! The camera is mounted on the roof too which makes it look like hes going slower than he actually is. But yeah, hes bookin it

  • whats the song called?

  • Yello - Oh yeah

  • Fauk that miata I want that little rx3

  • That rx3 is a pretty cool fast car its been racing for yrs.

  • @TheBedfordboyz wasnt this song in grand tursimo 4

  • Oh god yes. I love the sound of a Toyota V8! SO smooth.. Is this the 4-liter or 4.3?

  • That is one tough miata. You should go to a racing school so that they can teach you how to use more of the track to be smoother out of the turns. You would cut probably 2-3 seconds a lap

  • Ha ha that's funny! Jeremy Lush needing to go to racing school! Anyone who can drift a car like that out of the sweeper with a solid concrete wall on the right has balls of steel and bags of talent!

  • I wasn't saying it as an insult, and yes everyone can benefit from going to a racing school. It's a far cry from drivers ed. You can have all the talent in the world but someone can always show you how to be a little faster. Still a great car though, I wish I had one.

  • someone in a race that has bags of talent doesn't spin the wheels in a race on purpose or accident.

  • There's one miata that nobody will call a hairdressers car.

  • i would call it a buff hairdresser's car. lol

  • ill get one in the next few months :p

    mx5 nc 2.0 @ winter = fun² as hell

    sum1 got a V8 for me? xD

  • holy shit a v8 miata twin turbo????????

  • LOL I want a Miata now...

  • LOVE that understeer ;D

  • whats that song title?

  • search yello and you'll find it

  • thats one amazing sound under that hood. oh yeah great video.

  • Nice job. I got a vid of a monster miata taking off in front me in an autocross event.

  • wow...the engine weight is the main weight!

  • bye bye subie!

  • hmm he's in a miata with probably alot more horsepower and has a better power to weight ratio so yea that subaru wasn't going to keep up.

  • thanks captain o

  • Rx7 was in front of you :P

Btw, did you mean that WRX is in no way STANDARD form?

  • the driver has massive skill!

  • thats some amazing shit bro!!!!

  • I am beginning to fall in love with all these Monster Miatas. They look so fun.

  • what is that 3.5 lbs to each horse? NICE !!!!!!

  • that means for every 3.5lbs of car there is one horsepower

  • only 5 psi?????

  • Are you insane? Yes. Yes you are. Wonderfully insane.

  • holyfuck that thing looks fuckin fun

  • fantastic creation you have there

  • Insane, seen ford and chevy V8's very different. Makes me wish my dad would let me take his Z28 to a real track instead of just the dragstrip.

  • This car is really cool. I bet it's so much fun to race! Good for you for really driving the heck outta it.

  • Great car!

  • Great lil car you have there!

  • Whats the name of this song?

  • Well, pardon me, Little Lord Fauntleroy - I guess not all of us have Mumsy and Daddy's money to spend on supercars jism-stain.

My $5K did me well asshole.

  • wow...i want another miata, so i can make it this evil

  • That sounds good.

Yeah the W58 or the R154 are both good choices for the 1UZ.

I still want to 5 speed mine, but it is too expensive atm.

  • Just makes me appreciate my stock Miata more.

    My '97 simply HANDLES.

  • No, it handles because it handles jackass.

You're right - I won't win any races, but when you can hit an off-ramp posted at 25 MPH at 80MPH and the rear doesn't even BEGIN to drift, you know the car handles.

That is every Miata - stock or otherwise.

You probably wished you had one...

  • Whatever your mom and dad can afford, I guess...

  • Well - You're replying aren't you?

    Dunce...

  • what retard? the miata is a sports car in its truest form, rwd roadster. sure when stock they don't have alot of power but they handle great. plus if you add like ten grand to one you'll have a mean porsche killa

  • I'm going to have to tag in for brodell here. The Miata is cited as creating the sports car renaissance. It's purpose built to handle and stop on a dime. It was designed from the ground up to be a car for the corners. There are literally thousands of people who use this car for racing in the SCCA. The class is called Spec Miata (SM). The Miata has PLENTY of credentials and should be respected.

  • all i know is i drift the shit out of a miata at waimea canyon.808

  • I bet they're great for drifting. I race in Spec Miata and they can put cars with a good bit more power to shame buy out braking them, and carrying momentum through the corners. They're underpowered little things, you just have to know how to use what you have.

  • @sharkythesharkdogg

If at this point in Miata history you still have the "gay" factor running around, ur simply not gonna get it. Why people don't choose to get it and yet call themselves gear heads is beyond. Light weight, rwd, short wheel base, modded mega power. Fantastic balance, nicely weighted manual steering telepathic communication through the seat of your pants straight to your brain. Nearly fully adjustable suspension (minus ride hight unless you go with coil overs).

  • true dat

  • LOL, and your replies are laughable!

  • I'm guessing thats a 1uz!

I loved that engine back when I had my SC400.

If the transmission hadn't been total crap that car would have been a beast.

    Lol.

I even cut the pipes off past the headers just to listen to it rumble like an american V8.

Dropping it in a 2300 lb car and throwing on a couple of turbos has to be incredible!

You ever think about selling this ride?

I've been wanting a V8 Miata for months now.

Ever since I got rid of my Vette, anyways.

  • W58 transmission swap for the SC400, it can handle about 500RWHP but if that's not enough then a Getrag V160/V161 that can handle up to ~1200 HP

  • Lol.

    Dayum!

I'm sure a W58 would be plenty for me.

I had been looking at putting a Supra transmission in back when I had it, but that didn't pan out.

I had big plans for that SC.

  • if you look around forums, you could've gotten a good deal on a Supra Tranny.

That SC engine is sweet though, 1uz... I was thinking of doing that swap into my is300 and dubbing it IS400-TT (with twin ball bearing turbos of course hence the "TT")along with a V160 tranny, but im kinda tight on money right now... lol broke college student. my project is on hold, at least for now...

  • Yeah, if I woulda really been determined, I could have done quite a bit with it.

The thing is, I had just had to give up an 08 Mustang GT/CS, a 96 Vette and an 08 Yamaha R6 because I lost my job and money got super tight (ramen noodles tight).

    Lol.

So I really didn't have a shot at that one.

I'd love to see an IS400, though. I think it was Chip Foose that took the SC430s 4.3 V8 and stuffed it into an IS. Which, except for the new IS-F, is the only time I've been in love with an IS.

  • yeah man that sucks, but there isn't anything you can do about it.. that's how the cards were delt... and a IS430-TT would be nice though... and I believe that was Rod Millen

  • fit traction controll and use 1st ;)

  • my understanding is that the 1uz rods/pistons are grabage... however all you need to take that motor to really sick HP lvls is just rods/pistons/arp bolts and you might have $2500 wrapped up in that. If you can "build" and engine for that your doing great. I dont think that you would spend much more building an LS motor though

  • they started making garbage rods in 1996 , but from 1990-95 theyre bullet proof, all forged and 6 bolt mains

  • I'm going to have to agree with Brendon on this one. I fail to see how he's talking shit when he has his facts straight. Though I will disagree with him on what's best to put in a Miata. Sliding an LS into a Miata is made easy with the help of kits. And an LS3 pushes 430bhp. Wouldn't be too hard to get it to 600. And I know the LS3 can take it. :) Though, if you're willing to do a completely custom job, I say go for whatever you want.

  • So you're worried about the initial cost of the engine? Trust me, that's the least of your fiscal concerns when running a project like this Miata. Anyways, an early 1uzfe can easily be had for a few hundred from any junk dealer. You can even pick one up on eBay from a seller called "Billsmithautoparts" for starting at $246.

BTW, its funny how often the vulgarity of a comment left usually reflects the intelligence (or lack there of) of the person behind it. Do your homework before you speak.

  • If your looking at a V8 for running bis power at little cost, The Lexus 1UZFE is your best option. The GM LS engines are beasts, but they dont take forced induction very well. The 302 Windsor from Ford, with the exception of the Shelby tuned ones which are rediculously expensive, arent very powerful and they too dont take big FI very well either.

The Lexus 1UZFE is simply the best. They're cheap to come by, very lightweight, and their piston rods and 6 bolt main means you can push 600+ rwhp.

  • LS engines don't take boost very well because they have high compression. That's nothing a set of dished pistons can't fix. LS series also have 6 bolt mains.

  • holy shit, that car's power to weight ratio must be SOOO much better than any super car ever created! wonder what the top speed must be at full boost!

  • Nah.. the SSC Aero beats it. Still, you can push a 4.2 hp/lb ratio at the engine without too much trouble. :)

  • nope, I refuse to believe it is that high. You probably mean 4.2 lb/hp.

The way you put it, if the car weighed 2000 pounds (still pretty light) there would be 8500 hp.

  • Haha, yeah. Sorry about that. :) Had my unit wrong. Thanks for catching it. For clarification, the SSC Aero (2007 Ultimate) has a weight to power ratio of 2.324 lb/hp. If we take an NA Miata and throw in an LS3 (430 bhp) upgrade parts of the engine (500bhp ROUGHLY) and hook up a supercharger (750 bhp... this is a pretty liberal estimate, you'd be lucky to break 700) you could get 2.667 lb/hp. With some weight reduction, you might be able to widdle that down to 2.5 lb/hp. Not as good as 2.324.

  • I hate replying to myself; but, I mistyped that number. That 2.667 figure SHOULD be 2.867.

  • No worries mate, it's all good.

  • twin turbos cos he can.

  • well actually 2300 lbs. but im sure 5psi is plenty that thing is probably a handfull as it is

  • this is like the CHEAP AC cobra :)

how much would it run to buy a miata with that V8?

  • lord

  • Or, he could jack both turbos up to 10 or 12 psi, and watch it fly. He might have to strengthen the wastegate springs to get the turbos to get that high.

  • he wants responce to get him moving out of the corners faster

not have to wait for paint to dry before turbos spool

  • Less turbo lag.

  • that kind of torque on a 2000 pound car?? i cant even imagine driving it...

  • goddam what kind of bov does that have?

  • must be a blast to drive

  • Miata - because sometimes a Volkswagen Cabriolet just isn't feminine enough.

  • Tarck452, compensation, because sometimes females think your own penis just isn't enough.

  • Awesome car. but theres only so much power you can put to the ground.

  • Hehe, the straight line speed makes it look like it corners slow. I bet it doesn't.

  • You have to take the corners slow in a V8 Miata--there's just not enough weight to keep the car planted. If you're not pointed in a straight line when you hit the gas, you're going to spin out. You can see this in the video a couple of times when he's drifting after hitting the apex of the turn.

  • Lovely haha, thats mint. V8 from Ls400?

  • nice, very nice

  • im doing a LS1 swap on my 95 and was trying to figure out how you fit the twin turbo's on you 4.0

  • if you watch the clip again their is a still shot in at 0.14 seconds which shows the twin turbos plumbed in behind the rear axel below the boot .

  • i assume it uses a remote mount turbo kit. not sure what he uses for engine management though.

If you are putting an LS1 into your car, i highly suggest getting cams over a turbo kit... you will murder yourself if you do!

  • Fucking sick... how much power you putting down?

  • whats the name of that song?

  • song called Oh Yeah by the group Yello dont ask how i knew that

  • haha thanks man

  • i'm guessing you know that because it's on Gran Turismo 4

  • haha batman is a keyword, awesome

  • cool miata mate, too bad you never caught up to the rx7

  • got a link to a site with pictures of the swap?

  • whats the quarter mile time?

  • I can`t copy this things, but Interesting, the exhaust sound is look a like new WRC sti has driven by Peter S,Cool !!NO won Wrc yet...`tiil now.

  • Nice footage, what a relief when the music ceased.!

  • I'd either go with a turbo on the 4cyl (been there, FMII. big fun) or swap an LS1 in (world class motor, lightweight, powerful). Prob next project. anything else is dumb (although the Lexus is cool).

  • the 302 ford is the easiest, from what i hear, but it's much heavier and has less power potential than an LS1 (or really, anything in the LSx series)

  • Here I am thinking "awesome I've just done the exhaust system on my miata" meenwhile all you guys have done it properly and put whopping great V8's in them. That car sounds soo good

  • Love the exhaust note :-) Sick car!

  • I wonder if I can stick in a 5.7 LS6 in there

  • you can. Been done multiple times, i believe there's a kit now.

  • how about a 4.6l gt motor?

    would that fit good?

  • If it is not any wider than 1UZ-FE motor its a bit of a tight fit from what i have seen we those big heads.

  • why in the hell would you want to use a 4.6l gt motor?

  • What lexus v8 did you end up using? Do you have a build thread on a forum somewhere I can look over? :)

  • i want 2 put a v8 in my miata

    how?

and no i dont want a domestic one

that lexus one sounds like a beaaaaast omg

shit wat v6 goes in easist?

  • V8'S go in easier then V6's.

    Try the LS1 motor lol

  • easiest is the 302 windsor from a mustang. And if you dont like the engine (who does???) put in a merce3des 5.o with 325 hp and 365 tq in standard trim.

  • probably the sickest car EVER...period! what is 1/4 mi times?
