Am I the only one who ABSOLUTELY loves this song, most importantly the GLEE version, but it just isn't the same when you can't see Santana crying? It was SO FREAKING sad and powerful :( I can honestly say that I almost cried watching them sing this.... and listening to it after that brings some emotion out of it.
I've always loved this song but I particularly like the glee version. I think the way it was used in the show adds so much more to an already emotionally charged song.
@WiJuMa It's not the song itself, it's the sentiment behind it. I'm guessing that you're straight so it's kind of hard to explain, but when you're coming out to yourself it's a shitstorm of emotions. I think for Santana this song was less about realization, and more about taking the first steps to accept herself. She knew she could because Brittany would always be there for her.
I hoped I helped to clarify a little... It's one of those things that aren't easy to put into words. :)

watch the movie Coyote Ugly again. All the singing parts, make you think it's Piper Perabo, a professional actor singing but it's actually LeAnn Rimes singing, a professional singer and musician. LeAnn Rimes re-sung each song in a different style. Listen to those clips and then listen to LeAnn most popular songs, sounds like a whole different person. There are professional actors and professional musicians, MY OPINION, it's takes your whole soul and hard work to do either.
@BradOrok thats sounds like a slight sound engineering to me. My opinion IS, they either re-engineered the Dxie Chicks verizon or they had Natalie re-sing. Listen to it closley with the other verizon. Not similar in voice, tone can be similar in from singer to singer but pitch and style can never be fully imitated. Hearing the vibrato on certain notes and even the harmiones give me a hard time to believe it's a different professional singer OR EVEN Gwyneth Paltrow. I have a hard time.

@TheLella13 Fleetwood Mac if I am correct. Stevie Nicks came from the band Fleetwood Mac. It is from their album Rumors, hense the episode's title was Rumors.
@chipmunkspy5 I agree, since they both have amazing voices. But I think for the story's sake, they needed Gwyneth to do the main part as the girls (at least Santana) were a little confused and scared to come out with, and figure out, their feelings, even in song. @blackrose89891 It's about changing...Stevie Nicks originally wrote it when she was in Aspen with Lindsey Buckingham and her father told her to go back to college or quit the band. She saw her reflection and looked back on her life and wrote the song. In this version it is supposed to be about Santana's love for Brittany. The "landslide" is the events in her life bringing her down.

@ThisMyUsernayme Well they're not INSULTING the old songs... if anything they're making them more popular. What people fail to realise is that a cover means that they really like the song and wanted to try to do it justice. Obviously the original will always be the original but that doesn't mean this one can't be just as good.

I have to say that the idea of glee doing covers over the oldies is a really clever idea, its making the younger market from 20(and younger) like the older music like Beatles, Fleetwood, Police, Bon Jovi and so on. I do admit they have done the odd bad cover, but it happens. Glee is about music culture, and connecting people through it, like rebecca black's song was done as it was part of music culture. So enjoy the oldies and the newbies <3 :)

@chipmunkspy5 I agree, since they both have amazing voices. But I think for the story's sake, they needed Gwyneth to do the main part as the girls (at least Santana) were a little confused and scared to come out with, and figure out, their feelings, even in song. As evidenced by Santana crying (or almost crying) throughout the song.

I like this version much better than the Dixie Chicks - and surprisingly - I prefer it above Stevie Nicks' version.
Some places it seems a little flat (without emotion) but all around this is a great version.

@blackrose89891 It's about changing...Stevie Nicks originally wrote it when she was in Aspen with Lindsey Buckingham and her father told her to go back to college or quit the band. She saw her reflection and looked back on her life and wrote the song. In this version it is supposed to be about Santana's love for Brittany. The "landslide" is the events in her life bringing her down.

What people fail to realise is that a cover means that they really like the song and wanted to try to do it justice. Obviously the original will always be the original but that doesn't mean this one can't be just as good.

I have to say that the idea of glee doing covers over the oldies is a really clever idea, its making the younger market from 20(and younger) like the older music like Beatles, Fleetwood, Police, Bon Jovi and so on. I do admit they have done the odd bad cover, but it happens. Glee is about music culture, and connecting people through it, like rebecca black's song was done as it was part of music culture. So enjoy the oldies and the newbies <3 :)
