I just lost all respect for stupid fuck Bob Lutz, i dont' care if he worked at BMW (he's no Paul Rosche). Irrelevant?? I'm even of the same opinion that they should have made more. And if they did, they would have made money on them, benefitting from economies of scale. bad that during it´s time was a faster production car avaible... but not made in the UK and for that reason ignorred by the english speaking world... the 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans tested with 404km/h on the same track the McLaren F1 reached it´s topspeed at the VW test track in Germany...ever wonder why the Veyron goes 407km/h...not to beat the F1 but to beat the Dauer 962 LeMans...

Well, nobody had independently tested the Dauer 962 LeMans at that speed and no proof exists of it having reached 404km/h. As a matter of fact the Porsche 962 never reached more than 390km/h on the Mulsanne straight in LeMans even with the 900hp racing version of the late 80's. Also I am not sure if the 962 could be classified as a production car since it was based on the Porsche 962 racecar and few of them were made road legal.

I also highly doubt the SledgehammerCorvette did 400+

There were more 962 chassis build than McLaren F1 (150>100) and at least 13 are Dauer road versions(2002 possible more), 6 Schuppan, 3 DP62, and several Koenig C62 that are 25-30 962road version 64 F1 big different? NO

The 962 race car had 680hp the Dauer road version 730hp!!!

The Dauer 962 was officel tested by the German TUEV at the VW test track in 1998 with 404.6km/h, the McLaren F1 and Veyron reached their topspeed at the same track.

the Dauer 962 LeMans had a completely different body than the 962 race version with 40% less downforce which allowed a much higher topspeed.

The officel tested 404.6km/h at VW´s own test tracke is the reason why the Veyron reach 407km/h...
