That wasn't Peter Jackson. That was Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas, Cold Creek Manor). He basically invented the rig with Manfrotto. There is added stabilization but the beauty is you can attach almost any accessory to the frame including directional mics, lights, remote controls for the camera. It also allows you to hang, attach or mount the camera quickly and easily to almost anything. This is expressly for smaller digital cameras.
