  • I completed the Dawnseekers demo... Very good. Also when I went on your site, couldn't read the text... but it looks like your making a Super Smash Bros remake for the DS?

  • @Oveneise thanks ! :) as for the smash bros thing, the screenshots I posted are taken from a demo of the Dawnseekers engine adapted to make a side scrolling game. I used some smash bros 64 environments for fun and to prove it would be possible to make a 3D remake of smash bros on the DS. But no, I'm not working on such a remake myself, sorry. :(

  • @Oveneise hi guys nice homebrew, have you heard of sandbox engine ds-dsi? i just released v004.5

  • is this dawnseeker?

  • @DarthTemplar312 a very early version of the engine I made for dawnseekers, yes. :)

  • @smealum welll are you still making homebrews

  • @DarthTemplar312 I haven't done much in a while, but lately I've been working on an iPhone shoot em up.

  • Hmm when it will be released?

  • @biolobom a demo of a game using this engine has already been released; it's called dawnseekers.

  • @smealum Oh lulz sorry for Dumb question ^^

  • it's supposed to be an rpg not an fps

  • im going to play the demo

  • i played it and it should be a real game out to buy

  • looks good. more like a modded quake2 ds game though but its good.

  • if u turned that into a multiplayer game lol it would be awsome

  • OMG! This is one of the best Three Dimensional games (homebrew) for the DS! Good job! I would like to test it if i am allowed ;)

  • no way this can be a ds game, even a homebrew... it looks way too good. wow im in shock lol. great job, cant wait to test it out. so this proves that the DS can have a hell of alot better graphics (even tho i love the DS how it is, an up on some things cant hurt)

  • Thanks. :)

  • you already downloaded cod4?

  • DSi has greater processing power. So the DS itself has a pretty good graphics card. But the DSi= greater processing power..

  • cant wait to stars making DSi games :)

  • call of duty modern warfare mobilized?

  • COD MWM is awesome! btw join my clan in mph.

  • I ahve COD MWM! But I cant play it till christmas

  • @gtas123

no, it looks bad in ur computer, but it will look good on ur DS

  • @soniik actually this games graphics are complete shit

so many ds games look better than this

  • Hey did you make another video of this game?

  • No, not yet; I don't really have enough to show yet to make another video, but there are new screenshots on my website.

  • u should make nazi zombies from cod5

  • Yh tht will be good

  • can u send me a demo link?

i cant read spanish on website

  • so download link?

  • The game is still in development, and will probably be for the next few months. :)

  • what software didi you use?

  • If you click on the link in the description it is ds map editor

  • It uses Payk's DS optimized md2 model loader for the models (gun and enemies), but everything else (static and dynamic lights, map loader/renderer, collisions) was written from scratch by Smealum.

  • Can you tell me how to write dynamic light and collisuins?

  • is this quake 2?

  • No, it's not, this demo just happens to use the blaster from quake 2 because i didn't have anything else at the time...

  • whats homebrew ?

  • Si t'as besoin d'un compositeur pour ta bande son, n'hésites pas à me contacter. Mon style : Rock, hiphop, Electro. Bonne continuation à ton projet.

  • This looks promising, I'm going to buy a DS flash card soon, I'm also interested in DS homebrew development, although I'm more of an artist than a programmer. It would be cool if you made this a 3D engine so other people can simple use it for their 3D projects. anyway, keep up the good work!

  • Holy crap, it looks great, keep working :)

  • Smealum, you are doing well!

I am very impressed. Great job. Hope to see more stuff from you. But the MD2 loader isn't the best approach. Prepare some matrieces in the stack and use a static displaylists which jumps in the stack would be the fastest way, i found out. I may write such a bone based modelloader soon ;) Greetz and keep up the great work.

  • Hehe, thanks a lot Payk ! I've actually worked on optimizing your MD2 renderer a bit, and with only a few changes i made it be twice as fast ! So yeah, I'm sure there are still many ways of improving it, even though the way it is right now is just fine for me. :P

  • Hey what software did you use to make this homebrew game?

  • It's coded in C, using libnds. :)

  • so what site did you download it from? and do you make the game on the PC or on the DS?

  • Lets just say, you have no idea what a coding language is therefore you cannot code a game

  • Great homebrew job. It reminds me of Medal of Honor Underground for the PS1

  • The engine looks nice but graphics could use some work and so could motions. Why was the guy's gun always movin around like that?

  • Thanks. Don't worry, the graphics are just temporary. As for the gun's motion, it's due to the video capture process. I won't go into any sort of details here, but basically, the video capture slowed the game down to 7FPS instead of 60, so playing normally was hard. I then had to speed it up to 60FPS in order to give a good idea of the game's normal speed, but the result is kind of strange. ;)

  • It looks fucking great for a homebrew FPS! Can't wait for a demo.

  • Halo-style wifi multiplayer would kick ass in this...this looks fantastic.

    Keep up the awesome work!

  • Sell the engine, it's already looking better than some DS games! Great work.

  • You sure this isn't the Renegade Engine?

  • Comment removed

  • The description not.

  • looks proising looking forward to test it

  • Wow, this looks awesome! Great job man! :D If you finish this and release it it might very well end as the winner of the GBAtemp homebrew bounty :)

  • Well done, man. I hope someday I'll be able to shape up something like this.

    What devkit are you using?

  • This looks awesome!

I'm looking forward to playing this on my DS..!

    Please, keep up your work!

  • Looks awesome, I just hopped on over here from DS-Scene and all I want to say is: Keep up the awesome work smealum, I look forward to a playable release soon, and 6 months is not soon enough :P

  • Looks cool.

Please keep up the good work.

    I give you 6 months to complete this! ;) ;) ;)

  • Trop bien! Du 60 fps constant en plus! Essayes de nous faire un bon jeu smealum...

  • Before anyone asks, yes, the gun is from quake 2. All the graphic resources (models, map, textures) are temporary and there purely for testing purposes.
