I have no experience with rattlers. When I first saw this video, it wasn't until he stopped rattling that I realized what that "background hiss" was. Very cool. I also didn't realize it was legal to keep rattlers as pets. I knew you could have them in rattlesnake "rodeos" and whatnot, but not as long-term pets. Interesting. :-)

You could always feed snakes (venomous or not) frozen thawed. With long tongs, you can make the mouse appear alive by jiggling it around. The snake doesn't care if it's killing something or not, it's only trying to do what it has to in order to eat. It's humans that care whether or not the snakes are fed live or pre killed. Personally, I'm going to feed mine frozen thawed when I do get it.

His water dish and hide were taken out to shoot the video. All 27 of my snakes have a water dish in their cage, however not all of them have a hide as I have noticed some didn't use them so they were removed, the snakes in my racks don't have any because the tub acts as a hide, or they are too big to warrent needing a hide. But thanks for the concern.

This is a little over a year old Western Diamondback Rattler. Nothing real special but they are everywhere out here where I live, So I cought a baby and have kept it. He is real reclusive so I had to set up my cam and leave the room, Then edit the video small enough to post here on You Tube.
