i swear, this band never seizes to amaze me. the new stuff has its own style and flavor much like rhythm chord & melody but in a very different way i think. ive had it for about 2/3 weeks now and im still hearing new things as if ive never heard it before. just an amazing band overall. i would sell my soul to be in a band like this. music at its finest.

but I have to agree with Kyuteh... about the chord Structure and the Jazz thing going on ( i admittedly hate Jazz) it sort of bores me.. Too bad because the Singers voice is amazing and the piano playing is good too :))))))

@GothLolitaOrchestra Well said. I may not share youre opinion, but it's nice to disagree without hating on each other. Anyway, if you have time, you really should check out their other stuiff. They have such a varried style it just blows me away. Some more jazzy, some less jazzy, some pop, some latin. You might like it, you might not. But give it a try.

@ILikeToColourRed just because a song has a major tonal center doesn't mean it has to use common chord progressions. Just look at mainstream fusion (weather report, dave weckl, etc). All I'm saying is, to me all their songs have the same feeling and emotion to me, and I would like to see some more variation.

Besides, you can get away with writing simple chord changes if you put a lot of feeling into it. James brown, the beatles, and fleetwood mac are all good examples.

@kyuteh Well, it was stated that their music was supposed to be aspects of music everyone can like, so I guess everyone loves jazzy progressions :P. But I like this though, now if they release like 3 more albums with just this on it, then it will get very boring.

They are like the best of jazz, progressive, fusion, rock, indie and (i can't believe im saying this) pop...yes the singer is fucking amazing, has a poppy contemporary jazz sound that actually isn't annoiying...im actually starting to dig this band.

Explain, please. I find their lyrics pretty thought provoking. This song for ex, who would think to write from the prespective of a drowning person.  Their other songs, like Breathe Again, very unique.

Yes but that is not necessarily the lyrics, that would be the concept of the song. Their lyrics on the other hand, I just find to be a bit literal. Usually you can find songs that have symbolism in them, that give a lesson of some sort, like a double coded message (find out what the symbols mean, then what the lesson is). RoK's lyrics are more among the lines of telling first person stories.

But you're right, that really just adds to their uniqueness.
