He only mentioned the fuel economy on the HIghway, how about in the city ??? It is the biggest 'compact' SUV ... so you can't really compare the Equinox to the RAV4 or CRV
why would anyone get a toyota... look at the interiors of the new toyotas. They all use cheap crapish plastic. Even the new 2010 lexus RX stepped down to Tototas level. Want to get a good car for the money , then look at infiniti, really one of the best cars out there. Now getting to my point i would definitely take a look at this car.
that is one of the most hideous vehicles i have ever seen.... omg its so ugly! ford's vehicles are so dominating right now ... the new fusion is america's most fuel efficient mid-size sedan anyway ... so yeah... chevy sucks.
about 10 inches difference... But they are still in the same class. Doesn't matter. You said it's the most fuel efficient MID-SIZE sedan. The Jetta is Mid-Size, as well as the Fusion. The Jetta is more fuel efficient, like I said before.
But the guy I was talking to said the fusion was the most fuel efficient sedan in America. It's untrue. Now if he said the most fuel efficient 'mid-size' sedan, then I would not have confronted him.
I just wanted to correct you where you said the Jetta was mid-size.
Although I don't exactly get where he got that the fusion was the most fuel efficient car in its class. The Malibu and Camry perform much better in that area.
Pretty cool. I think it looks great, and it sounds like it is going to run better. If GM keeps pumping out vehicles like this, I don't think they will have to worry about the economy in the future.
GM is in trouble because they try!! they try and bring people new and exciting thing!! GM spends alot of money into diffrent and new ideas. look who created the musical cars GM in 1964 with the pontiac GTO. look who invented the first Auto transmission 1955 the oldsmobile hydramatic. so the whole bail out thing really is understandable cuz GM trys to make people feel like they have a car. no some stuped toyota that was built in the sam plant as a tamagotchi pet like fuck!! GM FOREVER!!
That's true, but look at the 700 Billion given to CitiGroup. What did they do with that cash, go on their own personal Corporate retreat. There was no order to give the money back, and CG just Splurged. The Big 3 promised to pay it back within 3 years. Look at what Chrysler did in the 80's. They got a bailout, and in a couple years paid back every cent with Interest. They are promising to do the same this time around, and people are skeptical. Its not like the Big 3 never paid back a Gov loan.
I'm against all these bail outs its a bunch of BS. Most of these CEOs that ran these companies into the ground have been given millions even though ruined their company, I mean seriously? Do I get anything for not blowing a bunch of money? The country is broke but they just keep printing money and throwing it at the problem like that will fix it.
And they may promise to pay it back but they never gave a real answer on how they were going to start making a profit again so why should they have received money?
You obviously never heard the Big 3's Restructuring plan. All 300 some-odd pages of it read to congress. It included killing/selling brands, promising to make hybrids/small cars instead of focusing on SUV's/7 seaters (although their SUV's are selling like hotcakes, especially the Lambdas. ) etc.
I have heard it but it doesn't issue the problem of the unions and the high wages. If they went through bankruptcy it would have forced the unions to renegotiate wages to a more reasonable rate. But that is only the beginning, the Govt needs to ease regulations on what the auto industry can do but it also needs to place tariffs on foreign vehicles. The Japanese are notorious for selling things at a low in the states to put US companies out of business. Ie: no US TV companies anymore.
Yes it does. They said they would most likely kill the unions and all that other stuff. GM recommended placing tariffs on foreign vehicles, but the Congress/ Senate said it was a bad idea for a reason that is unknown.
Did you see how they have spent the money so far? Chrysler spent $600,000 on an ad campaign thanking us for the money we didn't want to give them. GM has the most promising line up especially the Volt but Chrysler will not make it through 2009 they have been predicted by multiple analysts that they will go away and I was surprised they have made it this long.
Chrysler has always wasted money. I'm mainly for the bailout for GM and Ford. I see the Cruze, Volt, this new 30 MPG Equinox, VUE Plug in Hybrid, Malibu hybrid, 2010 SRX, Tahoe/Yukon and escalade Hybrids, new 41 MPG Fusion Hybrid/ Milan, Ford escape Hybrid, MKT, MKS, Mazda3/6, S40, C30, etc. I see how good these products are from Ford and GM. They give promise to us that they will change their ways and once again make people feel confident in Domestics.
Typical uninformed GM lover; the company strategy is "going backwards into the future" as one co-spokesperson of GM said in his own words. These companies fail because they're ignorant. We can continue to build good cars in the U.S.A; but they simply refuse to implement proper technologies; and oil companies are in bed with manufacturers and commissions. People can build an electric car in their GARAGE that gets 60+ miles per charge. How's that for efficiency? GM = Ignorant (fail).
While most of the things you say are true (Thepiratejoe), osvst brings up a good point. Toyota and Honda gained popularity by simply copying American and German cars. Look at the early Lexus' they look almost identical to the Mercedes cars of the same year. Without GM, these Japanese and Korean cars wouldn't exist.
Thank you for your good spelling and grammar (Thepiratejoe)!!!
whats with these shitty cross-overs why make a dam station wagon or get a fuckin van station wagon for the millage and van for room this is shit its not aerodynamic and it doesn't have all the room of a mini van fuck that but i guess chevy mini vans suck balls anyways what got g.m. in trouble is they can only make trucks/suv and corvettes right same with dodge thats why ford is the only company that didn't have to take any money they can make a ok small car and van and mid size
You refuse to give credit where it is due. Now the entire global economy has changed. Local markets are more important than outsourcing. The Asian market will have to focus on exporting less and cultivate their local markets, and Americans will have to import less and export more. You need to realize that the American disparity between import consumption and no export is a symptom of what was ailing the American market, out of control consumerism. Face the facts people we had a fake economy.
Hi I have a question. Where were all you, "American cars suck," people at during the 80's and early 90's. You know back when the big three were engaged in planned obsolescence. I was only a teenager and I knew that those cars stunk. The moment that the American car manufacturers pulled their heads out of their butts was when GM announced North Star equipped Cadillacs. For some eleven years they have improved starting with reliability. Now the price is right and even the interiors are better. TBC
Stop making wierd designs, they rather be better of copying some top leaders... Ford's whole line up looks funny. GM's sedam(?)is dead, they only use it for getto taxi..
Looks the same as the Toyota Fortuner released 2004 as one of the models of International Innovative Multi-Purpose Vehicle in 140 countries, America not included.
I just hope that even if they estimated it to get 30MPG the savings we will be getting does not go to quality problems later on. I would advice the UAW to improve your workmanship so that your company does not go bankrupt. Quality problem is what's keeping us away from buying American cars.
No shit Sherlock. The statement says that Chevy should copy other companies, because thats how Lexus became popular....when you learn to read get back at me.
GM has a hybrid. They decided to stimulate the hybrid market by offering it on the premium model range. LiPoly batteries are expensive, too expensive for the average consumer on even a small crossover vehicle. Look to Cadillac for a hybrid SUV. The more affluent people buy that hybrid the more the battery technology will drop in price, which will help Chevy fulfill your gripe by producing less expensive versions of hybrid vehicles.
chevy's broke, and vehicle's like this are their problem cuz noone wants them cuz they suck on gas and CHEVY DOESN"T GET IT! they keep building bigger cars that do worse on gas and then try and steal billions of dollars from North Americans... i danno, you do the math, if you ask me this is a prime example of why the big three are in teh shits and are going to remain there for a long long time
They run on smaller engines than before, they are direct injected, and have MUCH finer materials throughout. If you were to say this car is bad, then a Corolla is a fail.
the bailout is going to go to the bigwigs so they can get their severince package when their company goes under... there is a much better use for that money seeing as we can rely on europe and japan for decent cars
You all keep missing the point. Very few cars are selling. while Chevy and Ford reported market losses in the low 20% range, Toyota reported a 17% annual loss and Honda reported a 10%. Now you may say that means Honda is healthy and it is but that is because scooters and motorcycles have enjoyed a renaissance in sales and Honda is the only manufacturer I mentioned who builds bikes.
sounds like he says it gets 3 miles per gallon lol.

No the fusion isn't the most fuel efficient sedan in America. The Jetta TDI takes the cake with 49.1 MPG.

Actually the VW Jetta is classified as a compact car.
The fusion is ford's mid-size car.
The VW Passat is VW's mid-size model.

ok, but they are still both sedans, no?
HakemEX 3 years ago
Yes they are both sedans but they aren't the same size class. You really can't compare them because they are not meant to compete.
The fusion is less fuel-efficient because it is a whole size class larger and weighs a lot more than the Jetta.

But the guy I was talking to said the fusion was the most fuel efficient sedan in America. It's untrue. Now if he said the most fuel efficient 'mid-size' sedan, then I would not have confronted him.
